who: Endless & Rune Bivrow (and possibly others at Fierra Place)
what: an impromptu meeting, of sorts.
where: Fierra Place
when: mid November.
why: they have some things in common that might be good to talk about with someone else who understands. Green wings with their peach 'eyes' shifted in the cooling wind as they tilted to catch the breeze. Feeling the undercurrent holding her aloft the female kitsu nodded calmly to herself. The wind whipped at her loose chignon of strawberry blonde hair, threatening to pull strands out though it did not succeed. Rune paid it little mind, nor seemed to notice the chill of the air. She was a SeeD. A White SeeD. Accustomed to the chill of a ship's deck even as far north as frozen Trabia. She did not even yet wear her cloak over her normal attire of peach hued off the shoulder cropped shirt and hip hugging green skirt scattered with peach blossoms. Soft green eyes focused upon her objective, equidistant from the two HQs. Fierra Place. The winged female had not been back since her impromptu picnic with Valefor & Seer. She had seen AearHwesta a time or to since and from his happiness, the lovesick puppy way the sailor sang when he visited, Rune concluded that Seer's confession of love had indeed gone well. Still, she wanted to see for herself, check on both Seer & Valefor. Ask how they were doing.
Which was a big step for the shy SeeD, who all her life had chosen to stay by the wall unseen, forgotten, & overlooked by those around her. To take the initiative, even to 'catch up' with friends -especially by any means other than going to where they were and watching silently from the sidelines- was almost alien to her.
But then, what else did she have to lose?
Sighing at that thought Rune Bivrow shook her head then flicked her strawberry tipped tails until the Elven runes spelling her name that encircled each shivered as if alive as the fur comprising them shifted. Enough of that. Fanning her wings she glided to the front door, touching down first with her back legs as if expecting to stand upright on the two booted paws before pulling her wings in and settling her front paws to the ground as well. A quick pat of her hair & ruffling of her wings to put hair & feathers back into place. then drawing in her breath deeply, she rapped her paw upon the door.

 Endless had been "arting" lately, as Kitsyn often put it, doing something to focus his emotions on other than moping and feeling sorry for himself. He'd wound up painting several landscapes, things from far away places among the kitsu lands that most which lived in the area had never seen. Places at which he'd felt calmed and at peace, if briefly, in the past. It made him want to go out and visit them again... and yet he wanted to stay. He had a family now, and in spite of his quavering feelings he had no desire to lose that now that he finally had it.
The starry male had wandered into the kitchen for a snack without realizing it, lost in a state of bemused unawareness while pondering over his current painting. A state of unawareness that was broken abruptly about three steps from the fridge when he heard the knock on the door. He peeked out into the front room to find it deserted, an unusual thing at best, and decided he'd best see who was there and take a message, at least. No one ever came to visit him after all. Not since Lily and Ed had...
He walked to the door and pulled down on the handle, half-opening it and poking his head around to see who was there. Even though he'd cut off the train his thoughts had been trying to take there was an unmistakable air of sadness about him that he didn't realize was there, one that Rune might well recognize in the vaguely familiar way that Endless recognized her. "Rune?" Suprised to see the SeeD, he went ahead and took a step back to allow her to enter. "What brings you out here?"

It still felt odd, not picking up thoughts and getting warning from them as she had when her GF had been juctioned. For a brief millisecond the SeeD was startled, not having expected the starry male to be the one to enter the door. It still barely lifted her soft clear voice in volume. "Oh! Endless!"
The softness of her light green eyes flickered in sadness, sympathy, compassion & understanding as she automatically stepped inside as Endless moved for her to do so. She remembered him from the search, but also from seeing him around when the drama was unfolding and before. "I... came to find out from Seer & Valefor how things were...." Her soft voice trailed off and Rune looked around the empty room in gentle surprise. Then her ears shifted, listening for sounds in the direction of the Aeon's aerie. "They're not here... are they?"
Her upright carriage sagged visibly as her eyes sought out the glowing whites of Endless' eyes. Disappointed, yes, but even more so... there was a thread of desolation, as if from something Rune was trying to keep out of thought herself but that came through in her stance. Automatically trusting the starry male for his good standing with her 'family', for the underlying sadness her own inner sadness picked up on & reached out for with trembling tendrils. Subconsciously something in her realized that checking up on the females was not her only driving force to come. It was not yet clear to her what however.

End smiled in a faintly pained sort of way when Rune asked about Valefor and Seer. "No... they're out with their respective m...ale companions." He could have kicked himself for tripping over the word mates like that and having to change it... There was a distinct shadow of heartache on his features right then, though he tried to shake it off.
"Seer's supposed to check in before too long, I think, if you want to wait a little while." He almost seemed suprised as he said it, though it was more because he was looking up at the clock and noted that the time was later than he'd realized. "I'm not the best at entertaining guests... but I know Seer would hate to miss you. I'm sure she'd come over and visit if she wasn't so distracted with Aear all the time..."
That still sort of threw him for a loop. Especially because of his own relationship with Atae. His feelings were of the big brother/dad bent in regards to her... and nothing more. Not even an inkling. Though he wished he'd maybe feel an inkling toward someone... his thoughts invariably trailed to Lily no matter what he did, didn't they? He shook himself again with a soft sigh and glanced at Rune. "Er... want a drink, or a snack? Was about to get one myself..." Just keep your mind off it. It's not... that... hard. Right? ...Right?

A flicker of a wince touched her at mention of the others pairing up followed by a distinct aching feeling. Even in her own pain Rune saw the shadow upon Endless. It looked so much like she felt inside...
Rune nodded. "I've nothing keeping me from waiting... if I won't be an inconvenience to you. I wouldn't mind a drink, thank you, but after I can wait in the main room. You needn't feel obligated..."
There was a soft push in the back of her mind that reminded Rune of how M'din would tell her things when the GF was still junctioned to her. Before she woke as a kitsu without his familiar presence. Well... it had always served her well before. Perhaps it was a residual imprint of the guardian force within her mind. They had been junctioned long time. "Endless... please stop me if I'm being to forward... but how are you doing?"

Endless just shook his head as he padded toward the kitchen to retrieve a glass of water or something. "Why would I mind? We're all practically family with everything..."
Her question made him pause though, literally, mid step, he just... stopped moving. His brow furrowed and he opened his mouth, closed it, and sat down, curling his tails around his paws like a kit trying to comfort himself. "Me?... I... better?" He tried to look at her, tried to pretend for a moment the way he always did that he was O.K. And then his ears fell and he sighed. "I don't... really know."
He wasn't sure how he was doing, and he wasn't sure if he wanted more to talk to someone or bolt right now. Gah... he was a mess and he knew it.

Family. Yes. They were nearly that, were they not? Rune nodded absently, her soft smile slightly sad upon her maw. Family... still it was difficult seeing the others of herself happy though she was happy for them. That was not to be her lot... not that way. So she should come to accept, no matter how difficult.
And yet how much harder must it be for Endless, who so loved their Liliana? With gentle eyes she watched the starry pelted male halt, softly watched his every reaction & listened to his words with a look that seemed to say it was okay to be however he was -to feel however he did. Even with only the words of others combined with what little she saw of the male on the 'hunt' it was saddening to see him drop his ears, sitting like a frightened kit being brave. Heartache... it was still there. Rune would bet on it. She would bet on it... because she felt similar.
Only how much more is it for he, who so nearly had his heart's desire, who had a taste more than seeing it on another? But there was in her soft green eyes a sad understanding, her own aching heart with its dream shattered laying open by circumstances more than anything else. Fate... it seemed... was fickle. With a smooth graceful motion Rune reached her right paw towards Endless' paw, stopping just beside his tails where they curled around them. "Would it help... to not be alone?"
The White SeeD's own ears fell then, a soft silent cry in her eyes. Alone... she always felt alone. But he need not feel alone. Or perhaps... perhaps they could be alone together. Would some sense of solace for him be found then?

A compulsion to talk, a subconscious acknowledgement of that look in her eye that told him she understood, she really did, overcame his innate need to be a wall everyone else could lean on and let him crumble, just a bit, for just a moment, and at least attempt to lean on someone else.
"I... I was alone... for a long time. It's... hard..." He paused to swallow a lump that threatened to rise in his throat. "Finally opening up to someone... and... feeling for them... and not knowing how to feel or be around them when they wind up with someone else. I mean... I have a family again, now, but... they're... still strangers, more than not. I don't know how to..." he trailed off there, waving his paw ineffectually to try and prod some sensible utterance to describe what he was trying to say.
Then he just sighed and stood back up. "What did you want to drink?..." Avoidance... was the only real defense he had against himself. Against his feelings and his usually vain attempts not to drown in them. Avoid it, and don't think about it.

She was not one of the affection givers, always ready to step forward with a hug or nuzzle of comfort. But Rune was tempted if to uncertain to act upon it. She listened, ears flicking forward to capture the disjointed words. Words that bore so heavily the weight of the feelings behind them. At least so it felt to the White SeeD.
Rune waited, not even interjecting as Endless clearly switched the topic. He needed to talk about this.. about Liliana... as much as Rune likely needed to talk about her futureless dream ... and Seifer. But suspecting that she let the avoiding work. Briefly. "Tea, if you have any please." Endless seemed a tea kitsu, and tea could be very soothing. Easier to speak over -having a cup between one's paws, able to look at the steaming beverage rather than one's conversation partner if wanting to avoid eye contact politely.
"I can't imagine it would be easy." She said after a moment, her tone gentle. "She does want to see you again, you know but doesn't want to cause you more pain than she already has." Her voice a clear whisper, just enough for Endless to hear alone. A pained look touched her eyes, uncertain still whether she should have said as much and yet feeling Endless had the right to know one way or the other.

Endless was relieved that she let him change the topic, though he winced slightly when she mentioned that Lily wanted to see him. He was silent for a moment and then sighed heavily. "I... I know. I'd like to see them too... both of them. I never really got a chance to know Ed before... everything." He shifted uncomfortably. "I just... well I have a feeling having me hanging around would be rather a damper on their..." Cough. "Spirits. I thought I'd wait a... while."
It was a little easier to talk... around the subject. Not really having to explain his feelings, and able to keep from dwelling on the directly. Though what he'd said probably revealed more about him and his current state than he'd likely realized. Still he just couldn't bring himself to stay put and keep on the topic without some distraction and trotted to the kitchen to make some tea. He didn't even look at what blend he'd grabbed, subconsciously going for one of the more soothing assemblies he'd put together. He was gone for several minutes before he came back with a little tray with tea and bowls. He glanced around briefly before setting it down. "Oh... do you wanna sit out here or... one of the side rooms or something?"

She nodded lightly, able to follow what Endless was saying. Very understandable, considering what the pair had likely been up to since things were more squared away between Edward and his brother. Rune had learned the events of that night here & there. Sometimes the White Seed could almost swear she still had more access to skills M'din had afforded her. Hints of telepathy & empathy -pale shadows of sporadic instances. She let his words hover around her, letting him say what he could, thinking of what he said while Endless made the tea.
Only after the tea was there did she speak. Her eyes had grown distant & thoughtful at the question. "Here is fine. One place is no different than another."

Something about the way Rune was acting, something about the subject they'd been prodding at, something about the way he was feeling... but what she'd said made Endless thoughtful too. He was silent for a very long moment, brooding over something... and then he smiled faintly. "No... not all places are the same. Some places are just places... and some places... you belong."
He was home here, for all the heartache he'd been through here. It was still better than when he'd been alone. For all he'd thought of leaving when it first happened... he was glad he'd never made that decision. He liked being here... even if it was difficult for him.

A moment and Rune registered Endless' words and blinked softly. Belong? Did she belong? Yes... she supposed she did. However... that did not much change her feeling that way. It didn't matter the place... her thoughts, her feelings did not change. Truthfully, sometimes it was easier to be somewhere other than 'home' so that she did not come across the two Rune & Seifer pairs there. Which was odd in itself for sometimes seeing them together lifted her spirits while other times Rune could hardly bear to see them out of the corner of her eyes. The way the Anthro Moth Relm had been acting lately only heightened the later.
She reached out absently for one of the bowls on the tray, wrapping her paws around it & seeking warmth rather than a sip. "Yes... I suppose that is true..." She flashed a quick soft smile, still very sad. "Still, belong or not it seems to matter little where I am. They feel the same."
Rune translation: she felt the same. Lightly she blew on her tea. Then sighed softly. "We neither of us know what to do with ourselves, do we." It was the closest her quiet and clear voice came to being unable to be heard, that she murmured softly.

Endless reached for a bowl as Rune did and settled down, looking blankly into the cup. He was quiet for a very long moment before answering, and when he did he had one ear up and one ear down in that manner he had when he felt slightly suprised or puzzled. "No, I don't... guess we do, do we?" He ran a claw absently along the rim of the bowl. "I guess it helps... after a fashion, to know Ed's going to take care of her, and that she still wants me around." He gave a tentative sort of quizzical look. "You... don't really have that, do you?" It was sort of a stab in the dark, but the way she was acting, he knew something akin to his own problem must be bothering her. And maybe... it would help them both, to try and help eachother.

Pale green eyes looked up over the rim of her bowl during the silence. Cute thing he did with his ears, Rune thought objectively. Only Seifer had ever brought her to think more than objectively about him. She nodded lightly, gave a small tenuous smile as he echoed her, then breathed in some of the steam from her tea for the warmth as Endless ran his claw around the rim of his. Her smile softened and grew at hearing that those things helped, then almost turned away at the first hint of question in End's glowing eyes. Eventually she did, but not fully. Just enough that there was no direct eye contact, looking slightly over his starry shoulder beyond his purple ruff at nothing in particular. "No. No I don't."
Rune looked back to his eyes then, her own distant and sad. "It's different though. We're not even friends." A light smile. "I am glad that helps. You are a good kitsu, Endless."
