Why do you fight? What draws you to it and thrive on it? I know not everyone does but im wondering for those who do why. Im trying to figure something out and i was just wondering what others think.

Because it's something that demands my complete and utter concentration on the immediate state of what my body is doing, which is something I don't care about. Therefore, it enables me to not care about anything important for a while. This is good. Nothing else is engrossing enough and yet sufficiently unrelated to the rest of my world to do this.

Because it's fun, and I like the adrenaline rush. If I don't get a rush, then the fight isn't fun. I hate fighting people who hold grudges because if you beat them then they just keep challenging you. And if you don't accept, then they think you are afraid of them or some crap like that. I fight for enjoyment and survival on the streets, not because someone wants to try and beat me up because of a grudge.

Self defense.
Sparring is for getting stronger and for me to continue developing my martial arts experiment.

Tatsuya_Kawajiri Because I like touching other guys. Fair enough. I know plenty of boys who very much prefer to fight girls, especially when we grapple. rolleyes

Not Everyone fights. But within that majority there is the minority that is are naturaly good at it or want to learn. I'm gifted with great strength, most of my friends not so much. what fighters there are have the same choices as anyone to do good or bad.

You've probably figured it out by now, but I just like the competive edge between two individuals. It's almost like a conversation between two people, like sex almost. Weird as it sounds, think about it and you'll see that the two actions are similar on a mental level.

That describes my number one reason for starting martial arts also. I have a very stressful job, so keeping my mind off of it for a few hours at a time is priceless. Also, I love to be allowed, nay, encouraged to hit and kick people.
