Introduction

It has been nearly 25 years since the fateful day that I, Juanita L. Callahan, took refuge from Joanne Virella, the school bully, in the neighborhood library. It was on that day that I found the book. It seemed like an ordinary "So You Want to Be a..." type book, you know, the ones that have the pretext of helping children to learn more about their dream jobs, when in reality, all they do is deliver a crushing blow of realism to said children's dreams and imagination. But this one was different. This one's title was "So You Want to Be a Wizard," and its purpose was not to crush the dreams and imaginations of little children, but instead to help children with potential along the path to becoming full-fledged wizards. It has been proven that younger wizards are indeed the strongest ones. Why this is remains under debate. Perhaps it is the boundless energy of children that lends itself to any wizardry they perform, or perhaps it is because their minds are more open to the world around them than an adults. (Years before I ever found the book, I used to talk to a tree in my backyard, and it used to talk back to me, and this was without any magical training whatsoever.) Indeed, children are more attuned to the Speech, the magical language that every single thing in our universe understands, than adults are. This is why you have been chosen to fight for the cause of Life and Light. All you need do is take the Oath below. If you cannot take it, you will most likely be stripped of all your wizarding potential, for magic does not live in the unwilling soul.

What the mortal says is a lie. Magic can indeed live in the unwilling soul. I did not want to be one of the Powers That Be, so I rebelled. Against Them, against Their creations, against Life itself. I am the creator of Death, Hatred, and Sorrow, and yet, Life's magics still flow through me, ebbing silently away in my heart. I am the Lone Power, He Who Is Eternally Damned and Eternally Damns, He Who Eternally Rebels, Is Eternally Cast Down, And Is Eternally Redeemed. If you rebel against the Light and the Life with me, I assure you your rewards will be great. I can teach you how to cheat Death. It is, after all, my creation. Fight with me, and you shall reign eternally over whatever part of the universes you wish. Fight against me, and your death shall be slow and painful.

Oath

The Wizard's Oath, taken from "Instruction and Implementation Manual, General and Limited Special-Purpose Wizardries, Sorceries, and Spells, 933rd Edition," commonly referred to as "So You Want to Be a Wizard"
"In Life's name and for Life's sake, I say that I will use the Art for nothing but the service of that Life. I will guard growth and ease pain, I will fight to preserve what grows and lives well in its own way; and I will change no object or creature unless its growth and life, or that of the system of which it is part, are threatened. To those ends, in the practice of my Art, I will put aside fear for courage, and death for life, when it is right to do so--- till Universe's end."

UNDER CONSTRUCTION

NPC's (played by me)
Name: Juanita Louise Rodriguez (Maiden Name: Callahan), AKA Nita
Age: 37
Alignment: Powers That Be
Rank: Senior Wizard
Specialty: Wizardly theory, precognition
Personality: Nita is kind and caring towards those that deserve it, and would gladly sacrifice herself to preserve other lives, in fact, this has almost happened on more than a few occasions. She is also a bibliophile.
History: Nita's training in wizardry began when she was 13 years old, when she found the "Instruction and Implementation Manual, General and Limited Special-Purpose Wizardries, Sorceries, and Spells, 933rd Edition" disguised with the title "So You Want to Be a Wizard." That night, she took the Wizard's Oath, and the next day, her ordeal began. As events unfolded, Nita and her friends Kit and Fred (a sentient white hole which was summoned to them during a spell they were working on) were forced to go through a temporospatial claudication (otherwise known as a worldgate) that had been temporarily dislocated due to unscheduled spatial interruption (in other words, it had been moved because of construction going on in the original area). Nita, Kit and Fred had found themselves in a neighboring dimension, a twisted version of their own, where there were no people, and carnivorous, sentient cabs and other cars roamed the streets of Manhattan. They soon found out that this dimension was the creation of the Lone Power, and that He had stolen the "Book of Night With Moon," or as Fred had called it, the "Naming of Lights," and its darker counterpart, the "Book Which Is Not Named," and was planning to use the latter to make their home dimension like the one they had stumbled upon, while keeping the former under guard so no one could read from it and set the universes right again. They foiled the Lone One's plan, though, and escaped back to their home dimension with the "Book of Night With Moon." But the Lone Power followed them back, and began drastically changing their dimension with his powers, so Nita and Kit made ready to read from the Book to set everything right again. Kit began reading, but the Lone One's power proved to be too much, so Nita took the Book from him and began reading the section on the Lone Power itself, planning to make a change to His very being. However, the Lone One blotted out the sun, and thus, its reflection on the moon. Without the moon, the book could not be read, so Fred floated up into space, blowing his quanta in an emission as powerful as a star's. The light from Fred's last emission restored the moon, and Nita was able to change the Lone One's name in the Book, reading it aloud with Kit to make it true, and thus the Lone One gained the chance, if he so choosed, to side with the Light and help make the universes better places. Over the following years, Nita had many more adventures, but she eventually married Kit and had two children, Asmaria and Ace.
Appearance: Nita has brown hair and brown eyes, and wears clothes that are comfortable, not really caring about style.

Name: Christopher R. Rodriguez, AKA Kit
Age: 36
Alignment: Powers That Be
Rank: Senior Wizard
Specialty: Mechanical or seemingly inanimate objects
Personality: Kit is a bit more mature than Nita, despite being a year younger than her.
