Older than the trees of the forest is this tale, it goes back to a time of darkness, a time of beginnings. You see my brothers, in the beginning, there was only a dark ocean, surrounding a sheet of ice that stretched to the Heavens. Upon this ice lived Bear Mother, the first creature, and Sky shaper, the second creature to be born from the snow.. Bear Mother grew lonesome, and she and Sky Shaper bore many children, each child becoming the first of all creatures.
"The first Creations, were named Summer and Winter, and were beautiful. Winter, a young girl, had a heart as cold as the ice, while Summer, her laughing brother, was as gentle as a summer breeze, and as warm. Skyshaper gave them a world of their own on which to play and live. For a time they were the first children, given sacred powers to watch over the cold earth.
Summer, the child of Beginning built mountains and vallies from the icey ground, filling them with trees and fruitful plants. Winter, who carried the power of ending, disliked the changes to this world, and would often tear down whatever threatened the world she had been born to. Water swallowed mountains. Winds tore down great trees. Sharp Chasms split flat valleies. Both treated it as a game, one creating the land while the other would tear it down, making it a cycle of neverending change and rebirth. And for a time, they were content with the game.
Bear Mother bore more children, of many mystical properties. Among them were the first humans. They were beautiful, and guileless, pure and full of promise for the newly budding world. As they spread upon the land, Bear Mother looked upon them with good favor.
Winter, not liking this, cast her shadow over the bright place Sky shaper made, our world. For many years it was winter, cold and fierce, so that not even the mighty Snow Bear could survive it. This saddened Bear Mother, who turned her daughter into the wind, saying 'never again will my children harm their own.' This saddened Summer, who loved his sister very much, and so Bear Mother turned him also to the wind, so that the two could cavort forever across the world.
Yet none could fortell what the future held....
Eregon is a land where gods walk the earth in the guise of mortal flesh, taking care of their mortal kin in secret while keeping one or the other from gaining to much influence over the others. But because of the Fate of the first children of Bearmother, there are an intricate array of laws that govern the gods and their interactions with mankind. The breaking of which could possibly spell the destruction of all creation...

RuleBook (under Construction) Rules of Play1) No moding 2) No pervy pervy, keep to gaia and guild tos 3) Character to Character Combat minimal, and better have a valid ic reason. 4) No Auto's. Auto once, you are warned. Auto twice you are penalized. Auto thrice and you are banned from this thread. 5) NO killing charas without permission from the player and forewarning the GMs in pm. 6) Technology Level: Medieval (think typical D&D) 7) Magic Level: Whether it is learned or innate power, mortal flesh is not made to tamper with the magic , which is considered to be of the gods. See rules of gods for anything beyond chemistry or herbology. Suppliment RulesPlaying Gods: (as can be expected, the play of gods has to be strictly regulated to keep game balance. Playing mortals and tricksters are more encouraged, but within limits a god is accepted.) 1) A god does not age and is unaffected by disease. But they CAN be slain just like a normal mortal, though their powers can potientially make it more difficult. This is because they must take on a material bodily form to interact with the world of mortals. 2) For every power claimed, the body takes a physical or mental flaw that will be determined by the moderators. Mortal flesh was not made to harness the power of the gods, so the more powerful the ability, the worse the flesh suffers for it. "The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak." 3) Tricksters are limbo children, demi-gods. (and are the only demi-gods in this world). They have forms of their own, embodiments of nature. But they are unable to seek counsil or aid from the other gods, who look on them with a type of contempt. Mortals see them as fools and jesters, amusing or annoying as befitting their actions. They do not have spectacular powers or abilities, but share in their brethren's longevity. 4) Other than tricksters, gods must play two seperate personalities. The one of the god and the one of the "vessal". The vessal is the personality of the flesh. They may have been mortals at one time and are now used to encase your essence, or perhaps they shared their form with you at birth. This second personality has its own set of beliefs and morals, and at certain times become the dominent personality. The conditions where the god must become dormant and let the vessal act on its own must be approved by a GM. 5) Every diety, including trickers, have a spirit item which their vital energy is linked. The destruction of this item means the gods existance is permanently erased. The item could be anything from a flower to a star in the cosmos. 6)Each god has their own "region". Trespassing into this region or killing another god's disiple can trigger a violent war, and can mean losing the favor of the higher gods. By angering The mother and Father Gods, you could potientially lose your god status or your spirit item could be destroyed. exclaim Gods can be killed. If they are slain in mortal flesh, it will be 1000 years before they are able to take/construct a new vessal.

Setting and Story It had started as a gentle flurry in the midst of summer, little flakes dropping one by one to the earth as children stood in the doorways of their homes or ran into the streets to dance in the flurry of white. Men and women looked on in astonishment as the white flecks of ice fell to the warm earth, cooling the soil and blanketing the land in a cloak of white.
What had begun as a novilty and a wonder quickly became a curse. Within days, the soil was frozen and the streams were covered in a thick layer of ice. Crops died from the cold, leaving the fields barren as farmers frantically tried to gather and salvage what they could. farmstock burrowed in the white cloak for clumps of grass and dried pine leaves.
The setting opens at a small village roughly three weeks since the abnormal winter began. People are mostly inside their snow laden homes to excape the bitter chill, though a few can be seen working in their fields to salvage a few seeds or near the forest's edge trying to hunt out small prey for dinner.
This morning, a Jester has come a calling, telling the tale of Summer and Winter. The mayor has had a time keeping him from breaking anything in the process, and is quite a round fellow that is seen with contempt by the townspeople. There is rumor he made some sort of deal with a wildwoman that practiced herbology and minor divinations and went back on it, which might have resulted in the towns ruined state.
Also just outside the town, a woman of pure white, rumored to be the vessal of the Winter witch herself, is found in these regions of the Summerlands, her mind all but destroyed and little more than a moving doll in the period of dormancy of the Winter witch. She is also being lead around by a lanky blond haired youth with crow feathers tied into his hair and clothing. There purpose here is yet unknown to all save the young Tricksters within the village circle.

The Jester's tale was done, and Yonah, taking a step forward, brought his hands together ina single solid booing clap of applause, "Well spun, good fool!" he declared, "As good as any shaman's song!"{

The figure gave a broad grin and bowed low, tipping an expensive vase over to the exhausted dismay of the mayor, who stood red faced ad sweating from trying to keep his lovely treasures from being demolished by this interloper. Fortunatly the expencive piece fell onto a pillow with a soft thud. "Ah, a man of the north! Tis so good to see the native garb so far down in the Summerlands. You know the story well, I heard ye keep up with me all through. Though as will the case with all stories...only half the tale is told in verse."
The two boys laughed between each other and their friends as they mimicked the lanky tricksters exagerated walk and actions. "I'd hate to keep the poor sow so tence in his pen, maybe I'll just step outside and have a little rock soup."
One of the children caught this phrase and looked at him curiously. "You can't make soup from rocks!"
"Oh i can, and it is most delicious. Never a better food on such a chilly day. I can't start the day without a little rock soup. I might even let some taste it to prove how tasty it is. But if anyone wants a taste, they have to contribute something to the pot."
Curiousity was getting the better of the children as they reached into their pockets for nuts and berries they had found hidden in the house, or a piece of vegitable handed out from the day before. "Come along then, young ones, lets make a fire, and I'll teach you the fine art of rock soup."

Kalona smiled to herself when she saw that the villagers had found the food she hid away. It had been tricky to do so, since she didn't want the squirl to find them again, having wanted the food to be just for the villagers, Kalona watched the squirl with intrest, to see what his reaction would be.

He chuckled, clapping the fool on the back as he led the children outside, "Well spoken!" the children all mulled out after him, and Yonah turned to Kalona wiht a sparkle in his eye, "Would you like to come wiht me my friend, and visit upon the pups for a bit?"

"How are the little ones doing in this weather?" Kalona looked down at Yona, and even quciker then she realized, mussed his hair. "I know that sudden changes can't be to fun, even if the little pups have never known warm weather."

He grinned, "I took precautions agaisnt hteb ite of the witner queen." he admitted, leading the trickster to the wagon Beta female had taken for her den. There, covering the wolfess and her cubs, was Yonah's own thick traveling cloak, ":They are warm, and.. asleep." he chuckled, seeing the one wiht the spider splash on her chest on her back, kicking little forepaws in sleep.

Kalona smiled down gently and gave a light chuckle as she reached out a finger to playfull tickle the small wolf pup's tummy. Such small life, even in the cold if winter, it gave her hope that soon the sun would return and warmth would once again spread over the land.

The lanky figure had a small audience as he showed the children the art of rock soup, which ended up being a masked ploy to show them the advantages of pooling their resources together to make enough to fill their bellies. He grinned and cavorted around before shooing the children off to their housesto tired but grateful parents. Sitting on his mule, he pondered over the village setting a moment.

The trickster had wandered off, so Yonah made his way to the fool, nodding respectfully as he came up, "That was well spun, good fool, to brighten the day a bit for these people."

" T'was the least I could do traveler. These people are in hard times. And things will be gettin' harder." The fool said with sudden seriousness, which was a strange thing to see from a man in bright colors and jingly bells.
It a flash, the expression slipped away like a snuffed candle and the jeery laughter started anew. "Old sow looked as if he would sweat himself to death in the chase. Wonder how he makes it through the day."
