It was confirmed on Stephenie's website.
Personally, I'm not too thrilled with the decision. neutral  Opinions, anyone?

She's a really good actress and I don't hate the fact that she's playing Bella, I just had my heart set on Emily Browning.

I have to agree that I'm not to thrilled with the final decision. I personally don't know why or how she was chosen in the first place, but now I have to wonder about who's to play Edwards role. Hopefully all the actors/actresses will be able to play their roles properly in the end.

I wasn't too thrilled at first, but then I thought back to some of her other films.
She is actually a pretty amazing actress.
Although I personally don't think she looks "Bella", she will still do an amazing job at the acting.

Now it all depends on Edward...

As long as this Kristen girl is a good actress and is believable as Bella, I don't care. I still have my imagination--and there, my own little version of Twilight will exist.

I honestly haven't seen any of her other films so I have no opinions as far as her acting goes. She doesn't look too far off of Bella. She definitely doesn't look 17. She looks very mature for her age.

She must be a good actress....but her? Bella? N.O. Ugh...to be honest she looks dead in all her pictures...i mean her eyes are so...bleh....man...I was soooo hoping for Emily Browning....-___-

well you see this is how it is:
emily browning did audition i believe, though she was demanding to be paid 3-5 million, and the company didnt want to pay that high for her, cause they were going to pay 1-1.5 million to the actors so kristen stewart got asked to play the role on saturday and on monday her agent confirmed. so she is officially playing bella swan.
personally i feel they made a "in the middle choice" i mean theres things like make-up that can do amazing things people so need to critcize the looks..but she is quite good and quite pretty but she has this hard look..and i imagine that bella wouldnt,
i agree the edward is going to put everything into perspective.. by the way for all the gasaprd ulliel fans. im sorry but he didnt even audition =( i was his fan too and was so sad when i heard the news but he is working on 3 movies right now and simply wouldnt have time =)
i hope i gave all the right information OH YEA filming starts in feburary so keep an eye out..

I like the idea of Kirsten Stewart playing Bella. Atleast it's better than having some unkwon. She is a really good actress and she can probably play the part of Bella really well. I really hope they pick a good edward.

I would've still wanted her to play Bella. She has a soft look that Kristen just does not have. I'm not questioning her acting skills, but there's a personality that must be there as a base where the actors can work.
And I think Kristen just doesn't have that.
