A starry stallion galloped calmly across an open field; his muscles ached from the bad sleep he had the previous night and he decided a little ‘jog’ to his breakfast would help increase the blood flow. He neared his favorite apple tree, a large old tree that stood out like a sore thumb; it was rather alone in the large field and, almost all the apples except those at the very top, had been stripped by previous visitors.
Suirien was a little disappointed; the apples that had been left were ruby red… yet, as he noticed earlier, were far too high for even him to reach.
His heartbeat began to slow, his breaths returned to normal.
He searched around, scanning the horizon for any other trees he didn’t know about and began to notice the changes that had taken place within the few short weeks: The leaves had changed from greens to glorious reds, oranges and yellows. The wind had picked up a chill, threatening to frost the landscape any day.
“Hmm…” He thought out loud, shaking his head from the distractions as he looked over his shoulder once more towards the tree, then he had an idea.
Suirien lined himself up perfectly with a tree; with one swift and mighty kick, he had made it rain apples. One apple in particular landed on Suirien’s rump with a rather hard punch, sending him bucking for a moment before realizing it was only an apple.
He laughed the embarrassment off as he nosed the ground around him for the fruits of his labor, crunching through a rather sweet and delicious one as he began to relax once more.
