80GB model.
It's either 40 or 80. And 40 has no BC.

If you can find the 60GB model anywhere, get that. It's got nearly full compatibility.

Last I heard the 60 gig has been sold out pretty much everywhere. You would be lucky to find one now that its no longer made.

Si-Shen Last I heard the 60 gig has been sold out pretty much everywhere. You would be lucky to find one now that its no longer made. My store stocked up on them (200 units about), and we are down to our last 15 by the time I left today.

"Nearly" is mentioned because there still are a few errant and usually slight problems with certain PS2 games. I think there was a list posted somewhere in this guild at one time, but I don't have it saved.
Mostly these problems include the graphics quality going down by the slightest smidge that the naked human eye couldn't perceive it, but there are the occational glitch that doesn't occur when the games are played on the PS2.
Sorry I can't give any exact examples or any evidence, but this should just prove to you that the "nearly," while called for, is so unsubstancial that it's nothing to worry about in the 60 gig model. ;D

wingedbunnie is right, I have the 60 gig model and if there are issues with games, ive not noticed. I think the biggest issue arises with games that have vibration functions you cant turn off, however that will change this year with the new controllers coming out, I believe they are calling them Dual Shock 3. I might have run inot an issue with FF XII, but its hard to tell, it frooze when you return from the Desert with Penelo after getting the Sun Stone, never happened again, so its hard to tell what caused it.

oh well i have never encountered any problems with it so far it is truly an exceptional console by far the best of all of them and i am glad i am in a guild that agrees with me biggrin like for example i was playin FF7 on it and it is my bro's coppy and he can't look after nything so it is scatched to hell and my ps3 was playing it ok, it was just the FMV's that it had trouble with and now i am stuck at the ones in cosmo canyon when you go inside his machine thing (i am amazed i managed to play it nevermind get that far)

Ah, finally found the link: http://www.us.playstation.com/Support/CompatibleStatusThat'll give you a pretty good idea of which games can be played on which type of PS3 and what problems may or may not pop up and whether or not they can be fixed with a firmware update or not. : D Looking up FF XII, I don't see any problems like freezing in certain areas. Since you said it never happened again, it might've just been one of those spontaneous secular problems. I never actually played FF XII myself. I just watched my father get through it. I liked the story, and Fran was cute. <3
