Elizabeth, as she called herself, was going insane. Not in the sense where she tortured little rabbits and threatened Mara, but where she jumped around the halls preforming dramatics that only the specimen would be allowed to see.

It wasn't very professional to act dramatic afterall.

"And then he had the nerve to touch me on the shoulder!" she shouted defiantely, repeating the action of Mara's own shoulder. "So I smiled, reached back as if to grab his hand and!" she did so to some invisible person, "flipped him right onto his sorry a**!" She jerked the invisible man over and did a victory dance around him, flinging her arms about and grinning like a madwoman.

"Oh was he hurt!" Mara asked in a sudden, worried for the man, but also concerned of what would have happened if Elizabeth hadn't given him a taste of her medicine.

"Maybe a large purple bruise. But maybe it can be fashionable!" A wink from the strawberry blonde followed. "Now its your turn for a story."

Silence echoed. Maybe she shouldn't have said anything. After all the time they'd spent together, Mara still politely refused to discuss her past. Oh well, time would heal that Elizabeth supposed.

Nhadala was passing by to meet Shouko in the Greenhouse when she heard the yelling. Her head snapped to attention and tip toed over to see what was going on.

Whoever it was didn't sound like they were in danger but it didn't hurt to look and make sure they were ok. If anything they sounded angry to poor Nhadala. They weren't yelling at someone were they? She quickly picked up her tip-toeing pace and quietly peeked her head out from behind something nearby to see who it was.

She blinked her eyes as her clothing and hair rustled quietly. Another Vale? She had never seen this one before...How could she have missed this?

"Eh?" Elizabeth spun around as Mara was not only quiet but staring off in some direction.

Upon examination of 'over there' she found the peering Vale and instanty paled. Behind her back she kept her fingers crossed. Hopefully the specimen hadn't seen. It wouldn't be good for that to get out, now would it?

Hmm. . . what to do now? This was rather awkward.

It was Mara who broke the silence. "Hello," she said thoughtfully and walked forwards. They were timid steps, but Elly was overjoyed to see the girl introduce herself for once. She was always so quiet. . .

"I'm Mara."

Nhadala starred for a moment as Mara came foreward and introduced her self. She took a step back and looked at the ground timidly. "H-hello....My name's Nhadala..."

She looked up to face Mara, and peered over at Elly for a moment before speaking up again, "I'm sorry if I disturbed you....I heard yelling. I thought something was wrong!"

Not another timid one! Elizabeth wanted to bury her head in her arms and scream for mercy. What did she ever do to meet and/or get stuck with the nervous ones?

Even so, she loved them. They were a challenge and to gain their trust left her feeling warm and charmed inside. It seemed to be a purpose - one that she could carry out until she could walk no more.

It was like that song, 'I'm skipping and hopping on a moon shadow, moon shadow, moon shadw.' And something about losing teeth and not having to talk.

"Oh, no worries. Sorry about the yelling, its something I do sometimes!" she gave a wink, and nudge Mara who smiled in return, but looked extremely uncertain about it as well.

Both, however, stayed distant as they could see Nhadala was a bit shy. It was better to let the other approach first. Mara knew that more than anyone.

"Are you lost?" Elly asked after a bit. People were always lost in here.

"Lost? N-no. I'm not lost," Nhadala smiled, coming out of her hiding place and into plain view since she didn't feel run off by Mara and her researcher. "I'm going to meet mother..."

Nhadala patted the wrinkles out of her petaled clothes and smiled at Mara and Elizabeth. She looked at Mara warmly and spoke slightly in monotone, "You get to see your mom a lot, don't you?"

Nhadala referred to Shouko as "mother" dearly, and assumed that Mara's caretaker was also her "mother". It was a naive assumption, but Nhadala was a naive girl. Regardless of how long she was around she knew little of the others, or how to act properly when around people. Shouko wasn't around much to teach her that.

Well, that was relieving news. It meant that she didn't have to waste time directing someone elses specimen back to where it belonged. It probably meant something else, too, but she wans't going to delve that deeply into it at the moment.

Mother?

Elizabeth wasn't under reference that any of the Vale had children. Maybe there was an adult that none of them knew about? But that didn't make sense because they were all born of seeds. The result was a very odd look of shock on Elizabeth's face.

Mara, however, understood. "She's a friend," she corrected, though without the scornful tone. "And yes, she's around a good deal." She wondered if this girl wasn't able to. What an awful thing to have happen.

"Don't you live with yours?" Elizabeth asked shortly, doing her best to edit her tone at the end. She couldn't help it, she got agitated when she was confused.

"Oh, I see," Nhadala commented, turning her gaze to Elizabeth, "Live with mother? No. I live here with all the other Vale. Mother lives in a big pink house with all her other kids. She's very busy working at a hospital. And she comes here to see me when she has free time."

Nhadala smiled at the thought of that free time, "She's here today because she doesn't have work."

Nhadala looked back to Mara with an innocent look, but her tone gave off a hint of jealousy in it when she spoke, "You're so lucky to have someone around all the time..."

It seemed that this one shaped right up. Maybe not so shy afterall. Perhaps just timid of newcomers? What in her past caused it? Maybe there was no reason for it at all.

"Lucky for Mara I work here," Elizabeth stated. What was that supposed to mean, lucky for? The strawberry blonde debated on it for a second, but gave up. The residule frown stayed on her forhead. She was going to get wrinkles.

"Hospital . . . " Mara echoed. It was a place she would want to work, helping people every moment of the day. Seeing the smiles of children she knew she could save. Making life better one step at a time for people of all kinds.

"You must be honored to have such a mother," Mara whispered softly, awe in her voice.

Elizabeth gave her a look. Where the hell had that come from?
PostPosted: Fri Nov 16, 2007 12:46 am

Nhadala smiled, almost smugly but she wouldn't let them see it. "I am. She does lots of good things for people and even though I don't get to see her much, that thought alone is enough to make me understand."

"Have you ever seen a hospital, Mara? I haven't, but I heard they're big and really clean..."

Mara shook he head. She hadn't seen one either, but she'd heard all about them.

For the most part, it was from Elizabeth complaining about the health care system. She'd talked about it costing $14,000 just to resow a ring finger. Mara had no concept of money, but resow and finger fit in her head quite nicely. What an amazing feat, to be able to re-attach things and have them work successfully again.

"And really expensive," Elizabeth muttered. "I should move to Canada." She corrected herself after a worried look from Mara set her straight, "But I won't."

"Elizabeth cut off her ear on accident once," Mara explained.

Nhadala starred at Elizabeth horrified at the prospect of cutting off one's ear, even if it was accidental. She placed a hand to the side of her head to feel around for her own ear and sighing as it hadn't randomly fallen off without her realizing it.

"T-that's horrible!" Nhadala blurted, quieting her tone a bit after she realized how bad she had sounded. "It must have hurt a lot."

"But how does one..." Nhadala decided to stop asking her question there, it was rude to ask people personal things, especially ones about things they may have done that they might have regret about. Granted...She really wanted to know how someone cut off their own ear, even if it was accidental.
