The lab didn't have windows, but Mara could hear it.
Patter, patter, pitter, patta, pattita, pattu.
She wasn't sure what it was, but there was another distinct sound that often went with it. She was sure it sounded montrous and beckoning. Seeing that the latest was her own opinion it seemed she was right. It was dragging her out now, daring her to leave when Elizabeth was absent.
The green skinned creature flicked her gaze out the slightly cracked door. Normally she'd have little qualms about wandering about, but the deep howling voice kept her ill at ease. She swallowed hard and then dash out into the hall, her golden hair trailing steadily behind her. The low sound echoed out again and Mara found herself plastered to the wall and breathing heavily.
She'd never felt such fear before. Where was Elizabeth?

Opuntia wandered down the halls. Reevaluating the classes and the homework he had obtained from his classes. The boy was currently studying how to control his powers more carefully.
They where still on the topic of meditation, but Opuntia was more interested in how to control his power to levitate objects. So far the cactus boy had been able to keep his focus on a pen that levitated close to his head.
The sound of needles scrapping down the corridor echoed as Opuntia placed his palm against the wall and allowed his needled lined skin to scrap away and play there tune.

Then the screetching started. It caused Mara to jump out of what little skin was left sticking to her body and inch backwards along the wall.
Her breathing heightened, as did her heartbeat, and she carefully turned the corner, her eyes squished closed. Maybe, if she couldn't see it, it wouldnt be able to get her, or something along those lines.
Unwanting of tripping over anything, she opened one eye warily. Darkness peered back at her from all sides. "Be brave, Mara," she whispered to herself. "Brave." It was a word that escaped her time and time again, especially in the face of meeting new people.
With each step that sound got louder and louder - like the nails of a wolf on tile, creeping closer, ready to rip her throat out. Elzabeth had shown Mara a few pictures of wolves online and the specimen had found them to be horrid beasts, capable of nothing but bloodshed.
Rounding the corner Mara was relieved to find that it was simply another as herself, making a ruccus, but the rain was still falling and the wind was still howling.
"What's that noise?" she asked him softly, not looking in his direction for fear she might upset him, but too afraid not to ask the question.

Quietly the boy lifted his head up and stared at the woman. Never before has he seen a woman like this around the facility, but then again he never really got out much.
"What noise?" Opuntia asked, rested his noise making hand by the side of his body. He didn't realize how much noise he was making. First of all he thought he was the only one around... in this part of the facility at least.

She could feel his eyes on her, and she buried her head farther away sheepishly. The one noise stopped, that horrible screeching that rattled her teeth, and she looked up when she adressed him.
"You. . . were making the noise," she admitted, feeling a little silly, but the howling wind continued.
She felt very out of place among his gaze. How was he not afraid? Could he not hear it? "The woheooo sound," she tried, unable to immitate it in the slightest.
This boy, he was covered in very dangerous looking spikes, but that was no judge of his character. Mara tried to smile for him, but found it was a hard task to undertake when confronted with the constant pattering of the wind and howling shaking the windows.
