He had forced Blackfire to follow him as he led her to new training grounds. She was probably exhausted as he had worked her until she could barely stand, giving her no in-between rests, but that was fine by him. Kalonas did not need rest! Of course, since Blackfire was only half-Kalona she probably had smidgen less stamina than he anticipated. Ah, well. She was his daughter, his tool, his heir. She would do as he said! However, her rebellious spirit was putting him on edge and he felt the only way to control her was to teach her a lesson about disobeying him, and then continue to train her until exhaustion... and then continue training her despite that. She was allowed no rest! He glanced back to see that his daughter was lagging behind, and he snarled a silent warning towards her. She needed to pick up the pace! The training grounds weren't any farther but if she continued to slack in speed he would have to whip her into shape. He ignored the blood that dripped down her heaving body and the smaller, minor wounds that could later be infected. She had Kalona blood. She would survive; getting sick was no excuse, either. His lips pulled back into another threat to urge her onwards, and so the young half-breed pulled together her last bits of energy to follow her marching, never-tiring father.

She grunted silently as she trotted... marched... after her father. He was being far crueler than usual today, but that was to be expected. Earlier this morning, she wasn't sure how, but he had discovered the one secret she had been guarding ever so closely. That she had escaped their 'home' and had confronted, met, and lingered about others. For her, that had been forbidden. She snarled to herself as she thought about her sister; Hinode was free; free from Windflame's evil for he looked upon her with pride, despite all her obvious flaws. Hinode most certainly wanted to make Windflame proud, but her sister was as clumsy and silly as their mother... Recently, Windflame had torn away from Ringlet with a few final words, saying he no longer wished them to be lifemates. It had torn her heart apart to see the devastation on her mother's face; how unlike Windflame, she knew her mother was thinking, and yet... so how like him. Windflame was a walking contradictory... she straightened when she heard his silent threat, and immediately drew together all the energy she had left despite her wounds, despite her bleeding, despite her pain... she moved faster, her aching body burning as she did her best to avoid being beaten by her father. Indeed, such was the role of being Windflame's heir...

It had been a good while since he had eaten something decent. Rabbit and foxwere easy kill, proving to be not challange. The last time he had taken down another horse... Why, it was past a week now! Persephonix's icey eyes narrowed into a sharp glare as he walked, taking long strides. It digusted him what he had stooped down to dining on, as he was fairly sure that if he encountered his dear rat of a sister, she'd be dead within a few seconds. He could not give her what she wished, for that would be a gift to the wench. The Kalona's stomach growled in protest as Persphonix decided that he'd better hunt down another unlucky prey.

"Stupid vile creature," he spat as he thought of Merciette away from him, hiding herself well. She was going to pay severely for making him go throug all this. They're home in the mountains was surely taken over by some other Kalona, or in the worse case scenario, a lesser. He shivered at the thought with disgust as he trekked, vaguely picking up on a very familiar scent.

The scent of blood.

It wasn't very strong... But it didn't smell like some small fry. A light smirk tugged at the stallion's lips as he turned to head in that direction. So some creature was hurt, eh? Not severely, it seemed... His ears perked as he tried to listen for who was out there, but could only hear hoof-setps that did not belong to him. His smirk was at a standstill. There were at least two of them... He was not up for a two vs. one battle. Though Persephonix was very sure he'd win it.

Then again, he was very sure that Merciette's leg was broken, but she got away, didn't she?

Windflame paused as he sniffed the wind, and frowned. They had company... probably Blackfire's blood might have attracted an unwanted stranger, and so he stopped his silent, marching tramp as he turned to face the newcomer. His fangs bared to show warning for the intruder, he waited silently as he gestured for his irritatingly slow daughter to get behind him. Despite how he did not care about her feelings or condition, he would protect her. She was a valuable tool, needless to say.

She hadn't noticed the sudden tension in the air until her father had snapped his jaws, making her jump. She moved as quickly as she was able and lugged herself behind him, and then lay down, thoroughly winded and exhausted. She licked at her minor wounds, hoping the bleeding would stop. She wasn't sure how she'd pissed him off this time except that she had gone places without permission... She closed her eyes to take in a quick 5 minute nap, hopefully, whoever was coming wasn't the kind where she would have to fight... she was tired as it was... but her father was experienced and an expert warrior; he more than likely wouldn't lose.
