*The day was great and once again, Wicapi Wakan evaded her parents' eye and wandered quite a distance from home. Once or twice she had stopped and looked back toward where she had come then around at the unfamiliar land. Just when she was feeling lonely something popped up and she would chase after it as if the item was her best friend. It didn't matter if the object was just a leaf upon the wind or a small butterfly that happened to be fluttering about. If it moved she was after it, her small multi colored wings fanning out as she tried to fly when her 'prey' flew higher then her head.*
"Come back here!" She whined as a small butterfly had gone higher then she liked, "Wica only wanted to play."
*Pouting, the young filly looked around where she had come to be. It wasn't like home, the forest before her was darker then home, a lot darker. Blinking a couple times and tilting her head to one side, she wondered how far she had gone just chasing after a butterfly... She also wondered what or who could live in such a dark place, stepping closer she soon took two steps backwards, wondering if anyone would be mad if she just appeared.*
"Hello?" she called softly a little too frightened to speak loudly, "Is anyone in there?" *Her head tilts to one side* "Can I come in?" she wondered blinking again and soon started walking until she came to the tree line and stopped again to see if anyone had heard her soft voice... She hoped not...

Ah, it happened everytime. Each time a stranger would approach the edge of the woods they would fall for it's usual charms and tricks. The nymphs had deliberately made the exterior as daunting as possible, ensuring that the branches of the trees on the outside remained as battered and twisted as possible. With every branch seeming to reach out in an attempt to trap a passer by it was hardly the most appeaking of places and yet...Well, not a day went by when someone or something didn't stray into the lands guarded by the rather misunderstood stallion.
He had to admit, it had been a few weeks since his last visitor and during this short break had had been granted the time to mull over all that had occured in the previous weeks. In particular, he had taken time to consider all the changes that were slowly brewing beneath this surface of his dark coat and the problems they were already beginning to cause. He really had suffered a series of eventful months and while each and every one of them gave him a headache, the lack of a certain individual gave him an even worse headache!
How bizzarre for the hermit to crave the attention of another.
Nevertheless, it should not have been surprising that he was unphased when one of the birds within the trees fluttered to his Grove to inform him of the rather vulnerable visitor that lay just beyond the edge of his territory. Had it been an adult, he would have left the individual alone but with his informant declaring the potential visitor to be a child...Well, unfortunately this gave him little choice. One who prided himself on honour would not permit a child to wander alone, especially on the mountain slopes were certain locations were rather dangerous and the weather could turn violent in an instant.
Thus, it was with a somewhat disgruntled snort that the stallion moved himself from his stronghold and steadily made his way towards the forest's edge. Given his size and familiarity with his own territory this was far from difficult and within moments he was there - just in time to catch the faint and almost ironic request from the little one. He had to admit he was both impressed and surprised at the same time, to find one with such manners at such a young age.
...Especially when he thought back on his previous visitors.
"It is often unwise, to ask rhetorical questions," he stated softly, slipping out from the shadows just a little. The twisted branches seemed to shift and bend against his rather great weight but this wouldn't be hard to picture given the the sheer size of the stallion in comparison to the tiny babe. Nevertheless, he simply couldn't stop himself from correcting the babe despite her vulnerability - a force of habit, one he hadn't quite nipped in the bud at this moment in time.
He didn't mean it in a malicious way, it just happened.
"Or you will receive answers you do not want," offering a rather ghostly smile, the stallion scarcely raised his voice. Once again, he had reverted back to his hermit like ways and in the last few weeks he had savoured the fact that he did not have to shout or raise his voice to be heard. More often than not, he expected another to strain their ears to hear, particularly when they were in his lands.
That being said, in the rather silent region they were in it wasn't hard to hear the stallion despite his soft tones. Tones that were much easier for his throat to endure, even when talking at length...
Alas, it was with such things said that the stallion observed the tiny female for quite a long while. It seemed he had a knack for attracting baby girls, or just females in general but even his adoptive children were both little girls. He wasn't sure if this was a sign but as the cold winter winds began to drift against his thickened hide he permitted a flicker of a grimace to enter his expression. She wasn't that old and she was already stood in these temperatures?
"You had best come inside," he mused at last, flicking his braided tail against his flank to dismiss the quiver in his limbs, "Or you shall catch a chill," he added, turning round to proceed inside once more though he did pause briefly to unfurl a wing. If she hadn't already noticed by now, he was a rather bizarre looking fellow but recently (and even his mother had noted), his demeanor had become considerably warmer. Granted, he still didn't like visitors but he made less of a habit of emerging from shadows in a ghoulish manner and simply appeared instead.
...Alright so popping out of the shadows wasn't much of an improvement but it was a start, right?
All the same, he might have looked rather frightening but the wing propped up against the branches to hold them out of the way should have been a tell tale sign that he wasn't going to eat her. A self confessed vegetarian with a liking for seaweed was unlikely to devour the foal even if she were the most infuriating creature on this earth, he would simply find a way to get her home quickly!
Well, he would try to - however had she caught him on his birthday it might have been a different story and he would have once again been wallowing in self hatred for doing somethign he utterly abhorred. He could guarantee that a foal wouldn't survive that onslaught.
Looking back expectantly, the stallion's amber eyes turned to assess the tiny female and he arched a brow. While her pelt was a much darker colour he could have sworn he had seen those markings somewhere before...

*She had been watching the trees as her nubby legs quivered from the chilly winds that blew over the mountings, but her home too was in the mountains. ones a fair distance away of course. Her wings fluffing out at her sides, Wica stepped back a few paces as something did answer her calls and questions. Looking up at the strange stallion that came from the shadows, her golden eyes grew a bit wide at the sight. He certainly was a bit stallion, possibly bigger then her father, but he was fairly large to, to her small size of course.
Ears that had fallen back soon perked up so that she could catch what was being said. Though her head tilted to one side as she took in what was being said to her. Another cold wind rattled over her small form and she lowered her head to let the cold just wash over her small body like a tide over the seashore. It was getting colder and she hated the cold, at the invitation of getting out of the cold. Though her pace was slow at first, when the larger stopped and looked back did she pick it up a little.*
"Who you?" she asked once she had gotten just about to the stallion's side, though minding to remain back a little... Just in case. "My name's Wicapi Wakan, though Daddy calls me Wica for short." She smiled as her pale white and lavender tail twitched behind her. "You live here all alone? Or are there others?"
*She was full of questions, but she stopped after the first few, she had learned a while ago not to ask too many questions at once or it would make a mind explode when trying to answer them all. Her own wings fanned out at her side a little before closing them again, she had to look at his own, they were certainly different then hers. They looked like they were fit for swimming or something... This only piled on the questions within her small mind as she tried to still her tongue from asking them all to once. But she had to ask this one last question.*
"Can you fly?"

"There is one more soquili within these reaches, my daughter," and that was all, now that she had matured she was somewhat of a wanderer but he was always aware of her safety. Much to his approval, while she often wandered around she never really left the protective embrace of the forest and thus she remained unharmed. She respected his need for distance but was always aware that he would be there if she needed him.
...Other than her there were no others, he wouldn't permit it.
"As to whether or not I can fly - " he paused briefly and glanced down at the tiny filly, her steps wobbly in comparison to his own sure steps. He had to admit, the way in which foals wobbled and pranced about was rather endearing. They seemed completely unaware of their surroundings and yet were exceptionally curious all at the same time. Blank canvases, that's what they were.
"Can birds sing?" He replied at last and offered a bemused smile, folding his wings against his side once more in their upside down manner. They may have resembled a kalona but they were much bigger and unfurled in the most peculiar of manners - hence their appearance.
"But all the same, it is a pleasure to meet you Wicapi - though I would enquire as to where your parents are."

*Well that put and ol' red light before her other questions that soon pilled up like a wreck. Stopping in her track she had nodded when he announced that there was only one other that in the forest, another female like herself. Though when she was asked, 'can birds sing?' that stumped her. Well of course they could, that was a silly question. When didn't a bird sing? Besides when it was dead mind you. That thought made her shiver even in the cold around them.*
"Of course birds can sing, silly." She giggled as her pale colored tail twitched behind her, much like a canine's tail. "My parents?" This she muttered more to herself then anyone else.
*This statement made her head hang a bit, her parents would be very cross to hear that she had wandered off. Mommy's bear would surely ground her this time, if not anything else. She sighed before looking back up at the stallion, her gold gaze watched him as he seemed to watch her.*
"Mommy and Daddy go by the names of Tsa and Andy." She whined thinking of what parents would do when she got home. "Mommy's bear, Lucky, will ground me for sure now..." She looked back toward where they had come her small wings pulled very close to her sides. "He's always threatening to ground Penny and me if we go something wrong. Now he might have a reason..." She shivered again, still remembering that one threat that she took seriously. She didn't want to lose her wings and become like Penny, grounded from the skies.

How was he meant to know the names of her parents? He was not all knowing in that regard, he simply became aware of their presence and forced them to leave. There was no time for trivial conversation, these were his lands and strangers were not permitted within them. It was simple and he would never provide idle chit chat to those who disrespected his grasp upon this region - she was just lucky he was a soft touch for children.
However, when she replied in terms of his bird remark she highlighted just how young she was and he shot his eyes to the heavens as though cursing the fates. Once again they had thrust a young child into his midst and while he was certain her parents loved her dearly, he was once again expected to protect and ensure its safety. To make matters worse, the fates had yet again thrust a baby girl into his midst as though it was sign...or something.
Really, the spirits were cruel.
Azumoth could do nothing more than release a sigh as she explained her situation and with a slight shake of his head he began to walk further into the forests. It was almost immediate, as he drew further in the air began to warm ever so slightly and the daunting and twisted trees seemed to relax. Things seemed warmer, more gentle the deeper he went in and much more comfortable. Oddly, it was a little like him!
"Why did you wander off in the first place?" Well, he might as well ask.

*Wica had been watching the stranger with large golden, curious eyes. She watched how he moved, how things moved around him. Once and a while her head would turn as she looked at her surroundings with such wonder as her wings fluffed out as it was indeed growing a tad warmer then it had on the outside. She liked the warmth, the cold certainly wasn't her style. Even if her parents lived in like, one of the coldest places on earth. Her pale colored tail twitched behind her as she took in the sights, the sounds and the smells of this strange forest and wondered if the stallion would mind if her parents moved in...
Mother then likely...
Her ears perked up a bit as she was asked why she had wondered away from her home, her parents and into his territory. Well that was a simple question to answer, if she could remember what she had been doing. Stopping for a moment she closed one eye as if to think. Deep within her mind a small flicker of blurred color slowly came into focus against the black canvas. Oh yes, a butterfly, it's deep colored wings fluttered about her mind as she soon caught up to the darker one.*
"Butterflies, daddy had once said that his sister chased butterflies and well. I like chasing them too." She pipped bouncing a little from side to side. "Did you ever chase butterflies?" She asked tilting her head to one side, watching him very closely. It seemed that she wanted to know everything, even if she would forget most of it tomorrow.
"Daddy also likes to tell stories about how uncle Biscuit lead him on a trip that made mommy angry. She still seems angry at Uncle Biscuit. I don't really know why." She shrugged as she blabbered about nonsense that this one wouldn't possibly care for. She was young and her tongue had very little restraint sometimes. "Daddy never speaks of why mommy's angry with him, but I do wonder..."

Biscuit?
Azumoth was simply incredulous as memories began to seep back into the front of his mind. Ah yes, Azumoth remembered Biscuit, a relative of the phoenix he had rescued a number of years ago. Mischievous and a lover of mares, Azumoth had found it completely ironic and hypocritical that Biscuit would then send another stallion in to potentially deadly territory in order to proclaim his love.
...Then again, it was his sister. In a way, Azumoth suspected he might be the same with his adoptive daughters if he had been a better father to them - at most he could simply swear to destroy anyone that broke their hearts.
But wait...
Raising a brow, Azumoth once again turned to the tiny mare who bubbled with excitement and energy. Ever moving, ever talking she didn't seem to stop and it was a wonder to him that she hadn't already grown tired. Perhaps, by nightfall she would have collapsed in a heap and would be snoring loudly but for the time being he would endure her chatter. It was harmless chatter after all and oddly enough it seemed to be honest replies.
"I thought I recognised those markings," he mused at last as he eyed the swirls on the petite female before releasing a mild chuckle. Ah, why had he not seen it before?
"Let us put it simply, your Uncle put your father's life at risk when he challenged him - had he failed he may not have even been here any more."

*She had come to a halt with her chatter as she went back to observing this older, larger male who didn't seem to really keep his mind in one place, or it was to what she thought. But when he turned and looked back at her, she froze for a moment as he announced that he had seen her markings before. Yes she was colored similar to her mother, but her markings were much like her dear father. Complete with wings were her brother was like mother.
When things turned to why Mother was angry with Biscuit she tilted her head to one side and hastened her pace to try and prance at his side, though she kept falling behind a little and had to pour on more speed. Sure his pace was easy, she just had shorter legs. Fluffing out her wings a little she stretched them out before folding them again, at the time she felt like they were weighing her down.*
"What do you mean? Why would Uncle Biscuit do that? Did Daddy do something that upset him or something?" she asked barely stopping for a breath until the end. "Did you see Daddy when uncle..." *She had to pause to remember how he had worded it.* "put daddy's life at risk?" she finished lagging behind a little.
*She had to wonder how big this forest was, it seemed like she had been walking forever and her legs were starting to hurt. Looking around and soon back toward the direction they had come, it did look like a long way. She couldn't see the tree line where she had once been through all the trees and things. As well, she was feeling thirsty, she wondered if there was a stream or something around where she could drink. Looking around again she noted that she had again stopped and soon raced to catch up once more. Curious to know where they were going.*

They were headed to Azumoth's Grove - to put things as simply as could be. It was the warmest region of the forest and until Azumoth could figure out exactly where the little one lived (so he could return her) it was best that he kept her warm, well fed and comfortable. Ah, while he may have muttered and complained about visitors he was perhaps one of the most hospitable individuals that would ever been encountered.
...It had been his upbringing, Moppet (despite being a raccoon) had done a fantastic job of ensuring he remained studious and well mannered despite his emotional baggage. Even he had the decency to accommodate the vulnerable and this little filly was the epitome, the very definition of 'vulnerable'.
Oi, he really was a soft spot.
"I ensured your father found what he needed," the stallion replied at last, failing to mention that he had only done it because he wanted the stallion out of his lands quickly. Alas, he had other reasons too - for he supported Andy in his endeavours and it seemed the gesture had been well taken but he would never admit that either.
"I assume your mother received that desert orchid, that was what your father sought..." he explained further before coming to a halt to examine the little one. For all her energetic ways she really did appear to be struggling and Azumoth gave himself yet another kick to the backside (figuratively speaking)...no wonder he was such a poor father.
"Are you all right?"

"Desert Orchid? I guess Mommy got the flower. They don't really talk about it, but Mommy does always say something about a pretty item that they had hidden somewhere at home." babbling again she came to a stop just behind him and nearly running into him. "I'm alright, I think. Just a bit thirsty." She nodded as she was ready to find a good place to just collapse upon the ground and lest her poor legs.
*Her eyes did sparkle a little as she seemed to be quite taken to this larger, unknown stallion, but she did miss home. She wondered how far she had wandered. It was quite a distance, across the valley below and up another mountain side. At the very least, Wica looked around again as she again stretched her wings, showing off the array of colors from dark brown to a gold like her father's colors. Beating them a couple of times she barely left the ground before settling down again.*
"This place is darker and deeper then home. We have a nice lake outside the willow grove. Mommy says there's a waterfall as well. But Penny and I are not allowed to see it until spring>" She sighed, she wanted to see the waterfall, as well as go 'down' the waterfall. "Ther's where Lucky's threat of grounding come in. He says that mommy went down the waterfall that could have killed her. But once we're older, mommy says that she'll take us down it."
*At this a splash of giggles came from her throat as she though of splashing down in a pool. It sounded like a lot of fun, though she had to wonder how much fun as it didn't occur to her that the waterfall was quite large and dangerous to her little life. She was much too young, but she had a lot of spirit for one so young. Having folded her wings back to her sides she awaited to be led on to where they were headed, hoping that it would be a bit brighter then within the thick of the trees.*

Aha, so there was something wrong!
Well at least he had seen that and gave himself a mental pat on the back. All and all, he listened to the tiny mare and even savoured that very rare moment that only parents were meant to see. Hell, he was relatively sure they had seen her try to fly but most young knew how to fly a little more steadily before they met strangers... In a manner of speaking it was really quite comical but so very special at the same time.
Would he have that pleasure some day?
Well no, quite obviously. He had shoot himself in the foot with the only mare that had insisted on being near him and while he craved her attention and desired her in a way that was far from appropriate he could never have her. Really, it put a bit of a dampener on the proceedings but with such a thought in mind he could do nothing more than savour the little scene so that he might think back on it fondly.
He had seen a baby attempt to fly...
Not one to be broody he didn't dwell on the issue for long and instead he offered a ghost of a smile as he began to walk once more. Nodding ever so slightly in agreement with this 'Lucky' fellows opinions about waterfalls, he soon came to a halt at what seemed to be a wall.
"Waterfalls are dangerous in winter," he said simply tilting his head to the left ever so slightly as his horns pierced the 'wall' and began to draw it back like a curtain. In truth, it was actually an ivy curtain across a very unique area in the forest. The slopes had formed in an unusual way and thus a wall of rock had been left standing alone within the forest. Shaped in a very rough semi circle, it trickled with a small water pool at the centre of the arch with ferns lining the floor. The ivy around the front, clinging to the high reaching branches of the canopy provided a curtain and a shield against the winds.
...The warmest area of the forest was a huge wind breaker.
Ideal for a family some might add, but Azumoth simply enjoyed it for the comfort it provided.
"If you fall in, you will get cold and ill very quickly," he explained while keeping the ivy back with his horns, the filly still fixed in his peripheral vision despite the odd angle his head had been twisted to.
"Quench your thirst in the pool, if you wish."

*Wica frowned a little as he had agreed with Lucky that waterfalls were dangerous. She knew that, though she forgot most the time when she tried to get away from her family and find the tunnel that lead to the waterfall to see for herself. The only she had known of the waterfall was the sound that she could vaguely hear from where she and her family slept.
Following behind this stranger, it seemed that he watched her a lot, like a guardian or something. She often watched him as well, but more out of curiosity then anything else. When they came to a wall, she stopped just off to his side as she looked up at the greenery, it looked very odd, then again everything looked odd in this strange new place she found herself within. Turning her just a little she watched him pull back a portion of the wall revealing the pool inside.
Water! Stepping forward, she had been ready to jump in and splash around, much like any other foal would do, but his warnings of how cold it was made her stop. only nodding she crept to the pool carefully and knelt down before it. Her tiny rear sticking comically up into air, her pale tail waving back and forth as she drank. The water was cold and soothing to her raw throat. She had to wonder why she talked so much, no one had ever told her to be quite before, not that she knew of anyways.
Standing again she turned and stepped out of the small 'cave' and back to his side. She looked up as her nose still a bit shiny from the water that clung to her velvety nose.*
"Am I annoying you?" she asked as her ears drooped a little off to the sides of her head. "I don't mean to if I am. No one's told me if I talk too much, I'm sure I do, but no one's said." She shrugged looking down at the ground in some shame of herself.
[[ If I messed up how the pool looks, just tell me and I will fix it. ^^ ]]

((Lol think of it more as a raised bird bath, it'd prolly be big enough for a foal to stand in but they couldn't move around in it))
This foal was the weirdest one he had ever encountered - she wasn't strange in a bad way but everything she did caught his attention. Every little movement caused him to raise a brow and it took every ounce of his self control not to chuckle. She really was very adorable, clearly from a settled and warm family who encouraged the little filly to enjoy herself and to be secure in who she was. The manner in which she chattered away, pranced around and swung her rump in the air was enough to prove that.
...Even if the wiggling rump did make him want to snort and break into a fit of laughter.
Only a child would get away with that.
Nevertheless as she enquired as to whether he was annoyed by her chatter or not his brow did lift a little higher. Now he had to admit she did talk a lot but every foal from outside the forest seemed to do that. It wasn't something that annoyed him, in all honesty it made a change to hear the chatter given that in recent months he had royally screwed himself over in terms of any form of social gatherings.
"If no one has said you can assume that you do not talk too much," Azumoth reassured her as he stepped inside and allowed the vines to drop behind him. What little wind had been seeping through stopped at that moment and with a shudder the stallion adjusted his body to the heat and comforts of his grove - ah it was good to be home.
But now for the important part.
"So, how far have you wandered from your home?" Even if she could give him a rough description, he could find it...

[[ Oops. xD That's what I was thinking, but wasn't sure. xDD *Will have to remember that* ]]
*Backing up a little and pulling off to the side, she watched him enter the grove, Her eyes soon turned to the swinging vines before they came to a halt blocking the wind. Wings stretching out again, it was nice here. Much warmer then home, though she knew that she had to go back, even if it was colder. Her parents liked the place and so didn't her brother, they hadn't even explored the complete maze of tunnels that were within their mountainous home.
Home. An ear turned as the stallion had asked her of how far she had wandered. To put things to mind, she had no idea, across the valley at least. She knew that, after escaping a back door of the mountain her family lived on. After a long pause she looked back up and opened her mouth to speak.*
"Across the valley and upon another mountain, like straight across I think. Home had a large mountain lake and many trees that seem to weep. But the lake you couldn't miss if flying. Which..." She looked at her own wings. "I can not.. Yet. Daddy says I will as soon as my larger feathers grow in place of the fluffy ones." She noded slowly.
