First off I would like to ask the crew not to lock/delete this within two seconds of seeing it. I feel this is something that most people of gay/bi/lesbian sexualities should see.
In 1998 a college boy by the name of Matthew Shepard was visciously attacked because of his sexuality. He was attacked and then left to die hung on post like a scarecrow. He did die, and the words that came out of the people's mouth that found him were, "Oh my God! That isn't a scarecrow." His parents upon hearing this were outraged, they didn't understand why their boy, their first child was attacked just because of his sexuality. Then they realized that the nature of most people of humankind is a wicked one, most humans can't see the good in people, they only look at their differences. So his parents eventually filed a lawsuit against the three boys who did it. They claimed that they were just trying to rob him, but out of luck, one of Matthew's friends testified against them saying he saw them harrassing Matthew. Still, the three boys were let off with a minimal sentence of 30 years, and nothing else. The fact is, homosexual rights are virtually non-existent in the USA. In many states today there are sodomy laws and laws forbidding the right to love who you wish. There are no laws that protect homosexual rights, no laws that protect the homosexual, no laws to protect them from the cruel world. I find this terrible so I ask every member of this guild to try and make someone they know a little more open-minded, because that is the key to bringing about safety for all. I would just like to state RIP Matthew Shepard, may your memory live on.
I assume you are free to post in here, and discuss laws and such. I'm just rather upset because I am possibly facing a lawsuit because someone found out about my sexuality. It hurts, and I think gay/bi/lesbians deserve equal rights.

And, weren't there only 2 killers in the Shepard case? I played one of them on stage...

The sodomy laws have been repealed at the federal level. You might try going up against marriage, though. We recently made that illegal in Louisiana.

It really is sad.
*Curses Bush under his breath*
People go through these things every day.
*Curses a bit louder for the people who support him in office*
Currently, in this point of time, there is minimal we can do because most of the people who are Democratic are moving to Canada. If they leave, America will be covered by Republicans and the world will not be a safe place anymore.
*Screams out how stupid people were to ACTUALLY vote for the nut job*
It is a something that will happen. Either people band together to oppose it, or we just say how much it sucks.

Draxe federal level my arse...*fake glare* It is considered sexual harrassment if someone learns of your sexual orientation. So you don't have to tell them. It's still wrong, but it doesn't mean that, à la sodomy law, you can get arrested for blowing a nice fellow. We have a lot of work to do, and I'll get to it right after I get legally laid. 3nodding
