*The bitter winds blew about the mountain cliffs as the sun slowly edged its way over the peaks. Andy was the first to rise and greet the sun, spreading his large wings at his sides, he looked back toward the foals that lay beside their mother, his dearest Tsa. Folding his wings down again, Andy walked over toward the lake that sat in the center of their home, just outside of the willow glade that protected the new family from the cold wings and falling snow. There was a light dusting of snow on the ground, and a thin layer of ice upon the lake that had yet to warm ever so slightly. Lowering his head to drink, Andy's ears remained perked up to listen for anything out of the ordinary. Namely predators, but the small valley they lived in was secluded and held no predators besides those from the skies, but they were of very little threat to anyone. His mind eased as the icy water washed over his dry throat, Andt all but lost himself in thoughts...*

*the small brown and swirl colored filly stirred as cold air filled the void of where her father had once laid, snuggling closer to her mother and brother, a small whine escaped her as her then legs pulled in close to her body. With a small shiver, her golden gaze opened at the blurry world about her, it hadn't been long since they had escaped their baskets and entered this new world with wonder. The filly lifted her head and looked around as the glade slowly came into focus, but her head ducked back down as a chilly wind blew over, seeping through the willow branches. With another whine, Wicapi Wakan, tried to snuggle herself even closer to her mother and brother, though her attempts more then likely pushed her brother further away from the warmth...*

Tsaluyi goaned softly as her young daughter shifted beside her, the cold winds moving throughout their meadow and stirring the lake. The winds upon the mountain seemed to be cooler and more swift than they were on the ground where the mountains and trees blocked those winds. She shifted, flopping her head across her daughter's frail body to warm and soothe her. She had been long awake, as sleeping seemed impossible with two yearlings even in the most comfortable environment. She opened her eyes slowly, giving a soft smile to her love beside the lake before shutting her eyes again, trying to get back to sleep with her young foals, though she knew it was likely a futile attempt.

When the foals had first escaped their baskets, Lucky had been elated at the chance to retry 'training' the foals he was to look after. He'd been more or less dissapointed to find the foals had far too much of their mother in them. Was it really so much to ask that they not scamper off every five minutes for one reason or another? Yes. Apparantly it was. He had been sleeping away, giving room for the family to be together, though eventually he'd been coming nearer to comfort the foals on the cold mountain top. He trudged around Tsa's side, curling himself around the young colt whom Tsa had just released to warm her daughter. There just wasn't enough warmth to go around. Andy, Tsa, you better not be thinking of having more foals anytime soon...

The young colt shook when the warmth from his mother left him for his sister. He grunted when another warm body attached to his side. Though he was comfortable, he didn't want to be like this. He couldn't spend all day laying around. The sun was up, even though it wasn't warm, he wanted to get up and play, or at least move. The wind whipped through his pathetic excuse of a mane and he thought twice about moving. Didn't stop him though. He raised his head, and opened his eyes. Even though the bitter cold wind stung them, they remained opened. He was determined to finally see where his place of living was and what it looked like. His brown eyes scanned the landscape, it wasn't what he expected, but it'll do. His tail swished back and forth and the little feather moved with it. A smile emerged as he watched its movement. Penny couldn't wait to show himself off to the world. He had wondered if the world was ready enough to handle him.

*Hearing the stirring behind him, brought Andy from his thoughts as his head rose and turned back to look at his family. A smile crept onto his face as he watched the filly snuggle close to Tsa and Lucky 'cling' to the colt. Turning around he nuzzled against his love and soon against his children, one was already holding his head up and looking around.*

"Come on kids, Lets give your mother some time to rest on her own." He whispered to Wica and Penny, before nudging them a bit.

*Wica whined again as Andy nudged at her to leave the warmth of her mother. Closing her eyes tighter and tried not to move, but she was nudged anyways. Her legs shaking beneath her body, she pulled herself away from the warmth of her mother and into the cold air. Her soft coat bristled in the cold wind as she moved closer to her father, to snuggle against him.*

"But Daddy, it's cold out here!" Wica whined looking up at the silver stallion, "Can't we have a home that wasn't cold?"

Tsaluyi's eyes fluttered open again and she stood up quickly to be closer to her foals. "No, I'm fine dearest," she claimed brightly, flashing a smile at him. It was surprising to all, even Lucky, how quick and intense her mothering senses had come to her. She was told that they would likely not be as strong whenever she had another set of foals, but that mothering instincts were often like this for first time mothers.

She smiled down at her young daughter when she asked about the coldness upon the mountain. "Wicapi darling, winter is coming fast. No matter where we live, it will be cold when the snowflakes fall and the earth freezes. It will get better come spring. Until then, isn't it nice to live where it is beautiful, at least?" She threw a mischevious grin to Andy and added, "Besides, this mountain has the best water slide."

Lucky glowered at Tsa and raised his voice though he was burrowed halfway down in the grass. "Yes, the waterslide neither of you is allowed on, ever. I'll not allow either of you to break your necks the was your mother nearly did. Such a wreckless mare, even as an adult." He had romped over, eventually climbing up Tsa's back leg to look down on the young foals as to appear more intimidating. "And if I ever catch either of you on that waterfall, you are grounded for life." He glowered at the young couple's brood, ignoring his slight bouncing due to Tsa trying not to laugh, unsuccessfully. At least she made no sound... maybe they wouldn't notice?

Penny rolled his eyes at his sister, "I like it here." He paid attention when Lucky spoke, although, he wouldn't listen. His eyes rolled again and a silent sigh escaped him. No one would have noticed had his breath not have been visible. "You can't ground me. And good luck grounding the one with the wings," he chuckled a little bit. Penny's legs shifted and he hoisted himself off the ground. He shook his head and looked at his father and then his mother. "Permission to explore a tad?" He just wanted to check out their home, his mother was right, this place had a feel about it, something calm. The winter wind thrashed his so called mane around and the beaded dream catcher attached to it thudded against his neck and made it itch slightly.

*Andy chuckles as he watched Tsa stand quickly and proclaimed herself as alright. he wouldn't argue or it would be he who took a cold dip into the lake when she was done, not that he wouldn't have gone alone. Though he had to smile at Lucky's attempt to 'threaten' the foals about going over the waterfall. He had worried about Tsa when she had gone off it some time ago, before the foals were even thought of. He was sure that they would learn not to go off the falls just yet, not when the pool below was surely frozen over.*

"Your mother's right Wica." He nuzzled against his daughter, "Wait until spring and things will be warm again, for now lets all enjoy the day, Alright?" To which he got a whine in reply before looking toward his son. "Of course, just don't wander too far." Andre nodded giving his boy a nuzzle as well.

*Wica sighed as it seemed that her needs for warmth, and a warmer place to live were shattered by the will of their parents. wanting to stay at their mountainous home. Looking up at Lucky she tilted her head a but bitting back a small yelp at the mention of being grounded, in the effort of pulling her small fragile wings in closer to her body. Frightened that the bear meant pulling her wings from her body.*

"Nu!" she screamed in fear of the bear and darted away from her parents and over toward the far side of the lake, not wanting to think about losing her wings. "No meanie bear thingy going to ground me, nu nu nu!" She shook her head glancing back a little toward her parents and brother, hoping her actions didn't frighten them, which her father did look in her direction a little, worried...

Tsaluyi let out a chuckle at her daughter's interpertation of Lucky's words as he climbed off her back, the need for intimidation gone. "Grounding means you're not allowed to leave home, including flying. That doesn't mean anyone will pluck your wings, lovely," she informed her, trying to stifle the giggles. She looked to her young son and gave him a smile, stepping towards her bear. "Of course dear. Take Lucky with you. Consider him a small encouragement to keep out of any real mischief." She nudged Lucky forward, ignoring his grunt of displeasure. Why did he feel the need to protest when he knew he would always lose, when up against Tsa anyways?

She sidestepped cooly, nudging Wica as well. "Why don't you go along with them sweety? You can practice hovering a bit!" Tsaluyi grinned at the thought of her daughter learning to fly someday.

Lucky was clinging tightly to Penny's foreleg, glaring at his charge a bit. Couldn't she just ask him to play babysitter instead of pushing him around? Clearly not. But Tsaluyi would be Tsa, which was more good than bad so it wasn't too awful. Ah well. He let go and wandered the meadow as Tsa gave them the legistics, hoping that her foals would become better friends if they were left 'alone'. If only they would turn out to be more normal than Tsa and her siblings seemed to be...
