Starfleet Personnel Database
Captain Ryugi Kazamaru is one of the youngest captains in Starfleet History. By age twenty-two he had already graduated top of his class at Starfleet Academy, spending six years taking courses from nearly all fields of Starfleet, including Medical, Engineering, Science, and Command fields. After his time there, he had gained enough knowledge and credits to apply for any of the major fields, but followed through with Command.
During his time at Starfleet Academy, he was briefly affiliated with Red Squad, but eventually left them to pursue other interests. In addition to his outstanding academic performance, he is credited as the only Cadet to nearly beat the Kobayashi Maru scenario without editing the computer program. He lasted with the longest recorded time on the simulation, Thirty-Seven Minutes and Fifty-Two Seconds.
He dropped his vessel out of warp at Maximum transporter range, before taking the Maru's crew onboard. A message was sent alerting the Klingons that the ship was on a rescue mission, but, as programmed, the Klingons pressed the attack. After transporting the injured aboard, he waited for the Klingon Vessels to pass by the derelict Maru before destroying the vessel and heavily damaging the Klingon Shields from the resulting explosion. A quick drop into warp was used to get behind one of the Klingon vessels and a full volley of aft torpedoes aimed for their warp core destroyed it, and even further injured one of its counterparts.
Then, while taking full fire from one of the remaining two warships, and with shields buckling, Kazamaru successfully destroyed the weakened second ship, but not before his shields had collapsed and crippling damage had been done to his ship's engineering section. However, Kazamaru ordered a tractor beam locked onto the last Klingon Vessel, and used it to disperse its weapon's fire while he ordered his crew to the escape pods. He then manually fired the ship's aft weapons, heavily crippling, but not destroying the attacking warship. His last order was to self-destruct his vessel and make a note to Starfleet about the happenings. He'd given most of his crew just enough time to escape the resulting explosion, eliminating the target with minimal casualties to the pods.
While Kazamaru did not "beat" the simulation, or "survive" the test, he did complete his rescue mission at the cost of his life, ship, and with minimal casualties to his surviving crew. However, he had violated a treaty in the process. He justified his actions by stating that a few human lives meant more to him than a few words scribbled on a document, and he was willing to die for his beliefs. His actions were a testament to his words, and he "passed" the test of character with flying colors, and received a commendation for exceptional command skills.
His Kobayashi Maru test would come back to haunt him when he served on the USS Garfield from 2379 to 2382, a Galaxy Class science vessel on a diplomatic mission near the Romulan Neutral Zone. He was a Lieutenant Commander at this time, having been given the honorary rank of Lieutenant on his first posting due to exceptional performance in crisis situations. The Garfield was attacked by a group of Romulan Separatists who did not want the Federation to reach a peace agreement with the Romulan Star Empire, and during the ensuing chaos the Commanding Officers were killed in action. Kazamaru quickly assumed command, and after destroying two of the three Romulan Warbirds, the remaining Romulan vessel had cloaked and left the fight.
The encounter earned Kazamaru a promotion to Captain, skipping the Commander Rank all together at urging from various Starfleet Admirals including Admiral Paris and Admiral Janeway, who saw his intuition and battle strategy as a valuable commodity after losing so many vessels in the Dominion War. Such skills were few and far between, and the Starfleet High Command felt that Kazamaru would be best suited for the command role where his abilities could be fully utilized.
Soon after his promotion to Captain, he was given the command of the USS Ragnarok, a prototype Starfleet Vessel meant to usher in the new era of the 25th Century. He eagerly accepted the offer and continued to work with the shakedown team as the vessel's commanding officer. He is still in command of the vessel, and will remain her captain for the foreseeable future.

Designer's Notes
Class History -
The Ragnarok Class Starship started out as a competing design for the Starship that would eventually become the Prometheus Class. However, soon after its conception, the design team found that the Prometheus concept had much more power, and as the contract was to be awarded to whatever design team yielded the most efficient combat oriented starship, the Ragnarok Class was cast aside, still left on the drawing board, having never been fully developed, and the Prometheus Class would go on to be the most powerful ship in Starfleet's Line.
But the curtain would not stay lowered on the Ragnarok Class forever. As Starfleet pressed onward towards the 25th Century, they had been crippled by attack after attack by the Borg and Dominion wars. Resources had thinned considerably over the last few years, and Starfleet's vision shifted towards ships that were cheaper to build, efficient, and that could serve multiple roles. During the confusion as design teams rushed to submit projects, one team rediscovered the Ragnarok Class Concept in storage, and set to work refining the design to be more efficient and cost effective.
The Ragnarok Class won out over many other concepts and was put into production in late 2376, the first Prototype Vessel being Commissioned as the USS Ragnarok in mid 2380 with the Prototype Registry NX-75000. In the ship's shakedown cruise it performed remarkably, exceeding the requirements set forth by Starfleet.
Ship Systems Overview:
Propulsion-
The final design of the ship included many systems that had been tested and used in Starfleet's various other ships of later years. Concepts and designs were borrowed from the Prometheus, Sovereign, Intrepid, Defiant, and Galaxy Classes making it perhaps the most efficient starship to date. For main power, the ship contains two highly efficient warp cores that make use of the most advanced knowledge of warp fields and the warp barrier. While only one is needed for operation of the ship's systems, having two such cores allows the energy for warp speed to be evenly distributed between both systems, and allows both to operate at a lower range of power ideal for maximum efficiency of the warp drive. This dual core setup also allows for a much more powerful weapons and shield system than traditional single core setups.
However, having two warp cores makes the possibility of a Warp Core Breach Far more dangerous. Thus, the Ragnarok Class borrows from the Sovereign Class in that it can create a powerful modulating force field around both Warp Cores to protect the systems from harm, as well as large amounts of Ablative Armor around Main Engineering. In the event that a Warp Core Breach is imminent, one or both of the cores can be ejected via a hatch located on the dorsal side of the starship. This hatch is protected by Deflector Plating as well as Ablative Armor. The ship's warp systems also make use of the technology first used on the Sovereign Class starship to limit Subspace damage, and allow the ship to cruise at a speedy Warp 9 with a maximum speed of Warp 9.99 for an unreleased amount of time, thus possibly rivaling her old competitor, the Prometheus Class.
In addition to having powerful Warp Engines, the Ragnarok Class also takes advantage of an older technology that has been redesigned and applied to its Impulse Engines. Unlike most other Starfleet vessels, the Ragnarok Class is outfitted with a "Thrust Vectoring" system on all four of her Impulse Engine Manifolds. This system allows her to vector the thrust from the Impulse Engines in several different directions, which allows for maneuverability unlike any other ship of her class, and much more akin to the smaller Intrepid and Defiant Class Vessels. The uses and enhanced efficiency of this system allow the Ragnarok Class to use impulse power to perform the movements normally reserved for RCS Thrusters, conserving the thrusters for more dire situations when Impulse Power is unavailable.
Weapon, Defensive, and Computer Systems-
The Ragnarok Class sports the most advanced weaponry and defensive systems that Starfleet can offer. Borrowing from the Sovereign Class once more, the forward torpedo tube is equipped with a Burst-Fire Quantum Torpedo Launcher. This tube is the main torpedo launcher, and the only forward facing torpedo tube contained within the ship. The Ragnarok Class also sports two aft torpedo tubes capable of firing single Photon Torpedoes in quick succession with a new reloading mechanism unique to this class of Starship. Borrowing from the success of the Defiant Class, the Ragnarok Class is also equipped with two pairs of Twin-Pulse Phaser Cannons for maximum efficiency when dealing with enemy shields and weapon systems.
The ship also boasts the latest Ablative Armor, Regenerative Shielding, and the first ever deployed Temporal Shielding on any starship. The Temporal Shielding is crude at best, and is actually an offshoot of Regenerative Shielding by allowing the frequency of the shields to fluctuate at the temporal level as well, but still allows the ship to withstand effects from local temporal anomalies and offers slight protection from basic temporal weaponry.
Dual Computer Cores are included on the Ragnarok Class Starship to allow for faster data processing, computer backup, data storage, and efficient analysis. The ship makes use of the Bio-neural circuitry first deployed on the Intrepid Class Starship. This, combined with breakthroughs in understanding Borg technology gathered from the return of the USS Voyager and her crew, have lead to the ship's computer system to be the most efficient and most advanced piece of technology ever released onboard a Starfleet Vessel. As with the Prometheus, holoemitters are placed on all decks, allowing the ship's EMH Mark II to access any area immediately in the case of a medical emergency. As with the Prometheus, the Ragnarok Class can be operated by as few as 4 Officers due to extensive automation. Multi-Vector-Assault Mode is not included in the ship's design, however Saucer Separation is possible for emergency, and certain tactical situations. While the Saucer does not sport its own Warp Core, it DOES support a Warp Sustainer Engine, allowing the Saucer to gather energy from the parent ship's warp field and coast on it to safety.
Construction-
The Ragnarok Class is made to be sturdy, yet small and maneuverable. The distinctive triangular hull is designed to allow the most efficient energy consumption while at warp, and also to use as little energy as possible to run the navigational deflector. Her thin side, fore, and aft profiles make her a difficult target to hit, while her phaser strips give her a nearly perfect sphere of phaser coverage. Even from above or below, her triangular hull cuts down on the size of a hittable surface area. Her Main Shuttlebay is modeled after the Galaxy Class, granting room for several small vessels. Her basic loadout consists of 4 Type IX Shuttlecraft in the main bay, and 2 "Delta Flyer" Type Shuttlecraft housed in the Aft Shuttlebay, however this loadout can be altered to fit the mission assigned.
Her Shield Emitters and Structural Integrity Field Emitters are the first of their kind ever released on a starship. They make use of a composite mat of nano-circuitry that equally distributes the energy for the Deflector Shield and SIF across the entire surface of the structure, and is composed of thousands of possible paths for the energy to take to multiple tiny emitters, allowing the ship's shields and SIF to function even after the mats have been damaged by up to 80%.
This advanced technology is actually quite simple and cheap to produce due the nature of the mats themselves. These mats can easily be replicated to fit any size of starship as the mats are uniform in the placement of circuitry. For repair, the mats can be re-replicated, or repaired by nanoprobes reverse engineered from Borg Technology. To date, the Ragnarok Class is the only ship of the line ever to carry a supply of Nanoprobes designed for a purpose other than medical needs. In addition to being heavily resilient, the polymer making up the mats is strengthened to be durable to weapon fire, and while not as effective as Ablative Armor Plating, the mats are capable from acting as a light defense from enemy weaponry.
The ship also contains two medium Holodecks, a small gymnasium and pool, a hydroponics facility, atrium, an observation lounge combined with the ship's galley and lounge, an Astrometrics Facility as opposed to Stellar Cartography, several laboratories, advanced sickbay, and also makes use of the holoemitters placed throughout the ship for individual as well as tactical and mission specific activities.
Service-
The Ragnarok Class is predicted to remain in service for the foreseeable future as a Tactical Vessel, Heavy Long Range Scout, Medium Explorer Class, and as a Science Vessel. The mats of circuitry allow a wide variety of systems to be routed through them, which in turn allows for a wide range of customization and many different mission types. The ship also has several luxurious guest quarters, allowing the possibility for Diplomatic Missions as well. As Starfleet's newest and most efficient starship, the Ragnarok Class is sure to be serving long into the 25th century.

NotesSimply stated, the Ragnarok Class lives up to her namesake, despite being designed as a multiple-role starship by Starfleet. While still weaker than the Prometheus Class Starship that she once competed with, she is in fact a faster vessel. The Type 4 Burst-Fire Quantum Torpedo Tube, first installed on the Sovereign Class Starship, is capable of firing up to 12 Type-II Quantum Torpedoes at a time, each capable of tracking a separate target, but is generally fired in bursts of four torpedoes to keep from dealing with the extended reload time in combat. (Two posts to fully reload). The Tri-Burst photon torpedo launchers on the aft of the starship can be fired in quick succession due to the advanced reloading system on this starship. The reloading sequence and the doubling of the tubes allows for rapid fire of torpedoes without the burden of a long reloading time. (6 Aft Torpedoes per turn)
As Starfleet's newest vessel, the Ragnarok Class will be testing itself as the Command Vessel of the Beta Quadrant Exploration Initiative put forth by the Federation. It will act in policy upholding and enforce the main laws of the area, as well as do its best to keep the peace. Her captain is under orders to avoid conflict if possible, and only to act in a defensive roll if a full out confrontation can be avoided. As with Starfleet protocol, she is ordered to respond to any distress signal within her immediate range and render assistance. In the Beta Quadrant, the Ragnarok will be tested by the harsh unexplored frontier, as well as by her captain to become the ship she was designed to be.

NotesThe USS Ticonderoga was named for the Late 20th Century United States Cruiser Class bearing the same name. The Ticonderoga shares the same basic missions of all cruiser class vessels. Her primary role is that of a medium cruiser, and as such, she is heavily armed enough to deal with many threats on her own without the need for backup from larger vessels.
Commissioned in the late 23rd Century, the Ticonderoga saw action in the Dominion and Borg wars. She was heavily damaged in the final battle of the Dominion War, and was put through her most recent refit by Starfleet approximately five years ago. Weapons, hull armor, and shielding systems were upgraded, as well as the warp core and nacelles to provide the best possible speed and power for her class. Her mission in the Beta Quadrant is to assist the Ragnarok in peace keeping duties and to explore less urgent calls to action.
Her torpedo salvo is impressive for a ship her size. A maximum of 24 torpedoes can be launched at a time, however, the cost of this impressive spread is high. Maximum firing drains her torpedo reserves in less than 3 consecutive firings, even with her expanded torpedo magazine. The vessel is far more likely to fire her aft torpedoes due to the lack of any aft beam weapons, making it even more dangerous to attack the vessel from the rear in most cases, however, her impressive forward volley is not to be scoffed at if she indeed makes use of it.

Personnel FileName: V'renek
Age: 50
Rank: Commander
Race: Romulan
Representing Government: Romulan Star Empire
Biography: Commander V'renek was born in 2334 in the Capital City of Romulus to a wealthy and powerful family. From a very young age he studied his Romulan heritage and learned about their proud past. In addition to his schooling, he was also trained in the art of warfare by his father, a skilled General in the Romulan Empire, as well as a senator later in life.
His military career is marked with distinction for countless battle tactics and sound decision making. He served under command of several Tal Shiar officers, and other notable Romulan officials. He was almost assigned to the mission to capture the USS Prometheus by the Tal Shiar, but was injured in a battle with the Jem Hadar shortly before being assigned to the mission, eliminating him from the list of possible candidates. Later, he served on board the IRW Valdore in the battle against Praetor Shinzon of Remus, and was rewarded for his valor and bravery in combat by being granted the rank of Commander.
He believes that the Senate wishing to make peace with the Federation is much too soon and that there must be more time for the two sides to examine one another, and he is not the only one that believes so... Numerous "sects" of the military branches and government have split and divided the Star Empire, and all these separate powers are in conflict with one another, though there has been no actual attacks, and most of the issues are fought over in the Romulan Senate itself.
His supporters in the Romulan Government has tasked V'renek with being the Commander of all Romulan goings on in the Beta Quadrant, and have given him orders to secure territory and resources for their faction in the case that a Civil War does indeed break out within the Star Empire. These orders do not come from the Senate itself, however, making V'renek's actions highly controversial, but still legal. He commands the largest Battlefleet in the Quadrant with many powerful ships at his disposal, but none more powerful than his flagship, the Lubato.

NotesThe Lubato is a terror of a Starship, as are all such Warbirds of her make and model. The Lubato is a
"Tal Shiar-Grade" D'Deridex Class Warbird. Simply put, if this vessel was not under command of Commander V'Renek it would be better suited serving the Tal Shiar's most honorable officers under the most difficult mission circumstances. Her weapon systems are the best the Romulan Government can offer, and she sports enough firepower to devastate almost any other single ship in the Beta Quadrant. She even sports the newest and most advanced Romulan Cloaking device, making this devilish Warbird both silent stalker and deadly stealth attacker. Any starship of any race that is not "Command Ship Class" should think twice about engaging this vessel in combat...lest they invite their doom. All have been warned...

Ablative Neutronium Plating - All damage to hull and systems reduced by 25%. Damage to shields remains unchanged.
NotesThe IKS Don'chu is a dangerous vessel of the highest caliber, even by Klingon standards. In addition to being the Klingon Command ship, she is unique in the fact that she has been modified to equip not just one of the most powerful Klingon weapons available, but TWO. While these weapons usually take a time to recharge, having two such weapons allows a staggered firing time, meaning they can fire and damage a target indefinitely with one shot after another. (1 per turn) This makes up for her relatively low torpedo volley with sheer weapon power. The ship's support framework prevents major damage from being incurred after a ramming attack, making it a far more viable option in combat, and the vesel's Ablative Neutronium Plating protects vital systems even further making the Don'chu incredibly dangerous in any battle situation.

NotesThe Arrowhead Class Runabout was designed as an advanced scout as well as a high-warp transport craft for ferrying important persons to and from destinations. The ship's weaponry was designed after the highly successful Defiant Class, and her warp drive was created using ideas first utilized on the Ragnarok Class. The Regenerative Shielding allows the small ship to take a beating and still use her powerful engines to outrun most threats. But the arsenal of advanced weaponry onboard makes the Arrowhead Class a force to be reckoned with, even among starships three times its size.
The ship can be flown by as few as 1 crewman (ideally 2), but can hold approximately 20. Facilities include science, tactical, and helm in the cockpit, a dining area and room for cargo in the aft compartments, and a hatch to the engineering section in the far aft portion of the ship. One Jeffries tube is located under the floor of the cockpit, and can be used as a means of travel to any section of the ship in times of emergency. If the design proves successful, the Arrowhead Class may serve to replace the older Danube Class, as well as become standard equipment on larger starships.
Since the vessel’s takeover by Jacob Denning, the Arrowhead has been refitted with a stolen Romulan Cloaking device, among various other system upgrades. The ship’s cargo pods have been refitted to serve as storage for additional micro quantum torpedoes for the ship’s arsenal, and one of the science pods has been completely overhauled to house a large transporter matrix, capable of transporting approximately 10 individuals simultaneously. The basic transporter assembly has been removed, and replaced with a single set of quarters and a restroom. The ship may be cramped when filled to capacity, but it can prove itself well in various situations in which Denning finds himself…
What is completely unknown is how Denning has managed to accrue such a large number of upgrades that are supposed to be complete unavailable to Independent persons. Denning has a very large IQ, bordering on genius level, as well as an extensive knowledge of computer systems and engineering. Thus, it is assumed that he worked on his own ship to recreate the technology from replicated spare parts from the Federation database, and from stolen information hacked from various other databases.
