As the sun rose slowly, marking the beginning of a new day, a young colt slowly walked away from where his mother, father, brother, and sister slept. He would later stick to his early rising habit, but that was the future and this was now. He walked a ways away, not too far, but just far enough to be out of sight. He found himself a little pool of water and gazed down into it. Another horse gazed back. He blinked. It blinked. He turned his head and it turned its head. He leaned down and touched the water with his nose, sending ripples that marred the face looking back at him. It was then that Ochoco realized he was looking at himself. He had an orange mane like his father, a blue face and head-horn like his mother, and bands of orange around his nose and mouth. He was just like his momma and poppa and brother and sister, but for one thing. 'I wonder why I don't have wings, too...' he thought to himself, pawing at the water again and smiling a little at how silly his reflection looked when he did so.

*Well things were going 'alright' that crisp morning, she had managed to her her small multi colored wings to lift her off into the air, but her landings... Were much less then graceful as the young filly crashed once more to the ground in a mound of limbs. Standing and shaking the leaves from her coat, mane and tail, Wicapi Wakan looked up at the skies as it seemed to taint her.*
"I will fly!" She stomped opening her wings to try again.
*This time she was up a little higher then she had been before. This was great, though she wondered what she could do, her father said that his father could dance in the skies... Could she dance in the skies? There was only one way to find out. Taking a breath Wica aimed to do a loop, but her loop ended with her falling toward the ground again.*
"Eeek!" She shouted as she crashed landed into a small pool, splashing water in all directions, she had yet to notice that she more then likely splashed someone upon her landing.

Ochoco all but fell backwards when something his size fell from the sky into the water before him, sending the liquid everywhere. He closed his eyes and shook his head, sending droplets from his mane before his eyes blinked open again to see a mostly brown horse, a filly about his age, sopping wet from nose to tail. Even the bird wings on her back dripped with water. "Are you okay?" he asked, taking a step towards her. She'd fallen from the sky, so obviously she had been flying and he had no idea just how far she had fallen.

*Everything was a blur as the young filly laid within the pool for a few moments before righting herself and shaking the spots from her eye sight. She hadn't fallen that far, but far enough to cause her to make a big splash. It was only then did she notice the foal that was standing on the edge of the pool. looking a little less soggy then she felt.*
"I.. I think so." She muttered finding her legs and trying to stand.
*Limping from the pool she folded her wings back to the shore and onto day land where she shook some of the excess water from her coat. The termer shaking down her spine and out her tail. Shaking the small droplets of water everywhere she found that she wasn't so fine, she had bruised a leg from the fall.*
"Well maybe I'm not so fine." She tries to laugh, but it was a pained laugh as she favored her left front leg. "Sorry if I splashed you, I was careless i guess." She said looking up toward the skies, still they tainted her by making her fall.

"That's good," Ochoco replied when she said she thought she was fine, but when she carefully stepped from the pool and took back her previous statement, he frowned and looked at her leg. "Does it hurt?" he asked, bending down to look at it. As soon as his horn came near her leg, a... "spark," for lack of a better word, jumped between them and Ochoco jumped back, startled at whatever the heck that was. "Did... you do that, of was it me?" he asked, unaware that because of his unicorn heritage he had healing powers. Of course they were weaker than an actual unicorn, but they would be stronger than his mother's as he got older, not diluted by the ability to fly.

*Wica watched the colt as he took a closer look at her leg, she hadn't noticed that he was graced with a horn before a spark jumped between them and she side stepped away from him. Her wings fanning out a little, but she folded them again to her sides.*
"That wasn't me, it must have been from you." She blinked looking closer at the colt.
*Her head tilting to one side she noticed the sharp spike that was upon his head. This made her blink again as she stepped closer to him, trying to get a closer look at his forehead*
"What's that? On your forehead?" She asked looking at him with curious gold eyes, her pale tail twitching much like a canines would when excited about something. For the moment she had forgotten the soft throb of pain in her leg, making it easier for her to walk then before.

Ochoco, probably highly amusing to the winged filly, attempted to look at the horn protruding from his head. Of course, that was rather difficult as it was too far up on his head to look to the center and too far in the center to just look up. So he ended up looked very cross-eyed-ish and giving up in defeat. "Momma says it's called a horn. She has one too, and wings like you. Everyone in my family has wings 'cept me and Shilah," he said and looked down, hanging his head and kicking a bit of dirt. "I hope whatever I did didn't hurt your leg any more," he mumbled, glancing up at her through his fly-a-way orange mane.

*Wica continued to look at his horn and hadn't really noticed when he had tried to look at his own horn and got all cross eyed, it was only when he spoke of being wingless did she step back a little and tilt her head to one side. Soon after looking back at her multi colored wings that laid upon her back like a soggy cloak.*
"You mother has wings? And your siblings? My brother and mother don't have wings, But daddy does." She nodded. "Daddy says that my grandparents on his side the family both have wings."
*Blinking a little as he mentioned about hurting her leg even more, she had completely forgotten that she had even hurt it in the first place. Looking at her leg she flexed it and stretched it out a little and found that the pain was all but a twinge in the back of her mind.*
"I don't think you hurt it more, it actually feels better then it did before that small spark." She smiled. "Oh, My name's Wica...Wicapi Wakan. But Daddy calls me Wica for short and it's easier to remember and say." Wica smiled.

Ochoco watched her look at her wings. He was still a little... well, he wanted wings, wanted to be like Hema and Tawa and his mother and father, but all in all he felt like he and Shilah were special in his family. He wasn't sure about his grandparents, he didn't recall his momma or poppa talking about their momma or poppa, but perhaps they just didn't talk about them. He'd try and remember to ask next time. He looked up from his thoughts when she said that it didn't hurt as much anymore. Did that little thing he did when his horn touched her make the pain ease? "Wica... That's pretty. I'm Ochoco. I... don't have a short name yet, but you can make one up if you want," her replied with a smile of his own. "Yeah, my momma and sister have wings like yours and my poppa and brother have... I think momma called them butterfly wings?'

*Wica's head tilted to the side as she listened to him speak of his own name, Ochoco? It was a strange name, though her brother was named Penny.. It could have been worse she supposed as she smiled at the mention of 'butterflies'.*
"Butterflies? Not the tiny little thing my Aunty would chase? They are bigger then the little... Insects, right?" she asked as her tail twitched again, she liked butterflies, she loved chasing them.
*She paused as she thought of a short for his name. It did seem like a puzzle that he didn't have a short version of his name and he went by the whole thing. Her face twisting to show that she was carried away into thought, she closed her golden eyes for a few moments before she opened then again.*
"How about, Ocho?" she asked though it sounded like a bad suggestion after she had mentioned it... But maybe he would like it, she could only wonder.

Ochoco nodded his head once when she questioned him. "Yup, she said butterflies. Sometimes my poppa is smaller than my momma and sometimes not. And Tawa's always smaller than me and Hema," he attempted to explain but pretty much failed. He watched at she thought up a short name for him. He probably needed one since his name was longer than Hema and Tawa's so why shouldn't he have a short name, too? "Ocho sounds nice," he answered when she asked his opinion. Part of him didn't really want to share it with anyone else, though. Like, wanted it to be a little secret just between her and him. He smiled. "Yeah, really nice," he added and remembered something from earlier. "Why did you fall out of the sky? Did something happen?"

*Her eyes grew a little wide at hearing that his father could grow and shrink, she had never heard of such a thing. as if completely amazed she wondered how they could do that, her grandmother said that there were magical things in the world and she thought that maybe they could be magical as well. Soon things turned back to her small name for him and he seemed to like it, even if she just 'hacked' off the last two letters of his original name.*
"I'm glad you like it." She nodded before she was asked about what happened in the skies that made her fall. "I don't think my wings are big enough to keep me in the air for too long." She sighed looking toward the skies that were getting brighter. "Daddy says that Gran'pa on his side could dance in the skies by looping around and that someday I might be able to as well... So I thought I would try it now, but... I failed." She whined hanging her head as if someone had just stolen her favorite toy.

Ochoco frowned and stepped towards Wica, sad that she seemed so sad over her inability to fly well just yet. He rubbed the side of her head once with his nose before smiling a bit. "I'm sure you'll get it eventually. My momma flies really prettily but she's big, so I bet you'll be just as good as your gran'pa when you grow up," he said, trying to reassure her. She was his first friend outside of his family, and he didn't want her to be sad. True, his mother did fly, but he hadn't seen her "sky dance" before. He kinda wanted to see it done. And then, he kinda wanted to try it himself, which made him kinda sad again because he was reminded that he was grounded alone in his immediate family.

*Wica tilted her head to one side and smiled at Ocho nosed the side of her face to brighten her up. She knew that she would get up there someday, but that wouldn't be for a while. She was still much too young, but wanted to fly so badly that is sometimes hurt watching her father fly to... Where ever it was that he was going. Though she nodded to what he had to say, she would get there and she would sky dance, possibly for him if he had wanted to watch.*
"I know I will get there. And I hope I'm as good as Grampa Shihab. He's a really good flier. When I learn to sky dance, I'm sure I will have to show everyone one." She smiled looking at him. "There are other ways to dance then in the skies, daddy say someone who was... Somewhat like Mommy, though male who could dance without having wings." She nodded. "So wings aren't all some need to dance." she nodded briskly hoping that maybe she could learn to dance on the ground and in the skies, though all this thoughts of dancing was starting to make her head spin.

Ochoco perked up when she mentioned not always needing wings to dance. If that was true, then that could mean he could learn to dance, too, and do something that, to his knowledge, none of his siblings could do. Which would be really nice as he had yet to find something special like that, apart from him having the horn like his momma. Which might have... make-hurt-places-not-hurt powers. "Really? Did your poppa say who it was? Maybe you and me could learn together," he said, the words coming out in a kind of gush. He realized this and looked down a bit. "If you want, I mean. I think it'd be fun to learn to dance," he added, twisting one hoof in the grass a bit.
