I found this petition through an Australian karate website. They are trying to get Karate into the Singapore Olympics. If you want to put your name down, go to http://www.petitiononline.com/kakato7/petition.htmlDon't know if it will ever get approved and become an event, but if BMXing can make it for the Beijing Olympics, then surely karate can for the Singapore Olympics

I will be royally pissed off if the slappy tappy point krotty crap gets put into the Olympics ahead of pankratium. Seriously, the last thing we need is another pussified sport mucking up the Olympics.....WE NEED PANKRATIUM!

Not that I'm defending point krotty, but there are some far weaker events in the Olympics.....I mean, BALLROOM DANCING for ******** sakes. Then of course you got curling and SPEED WALKING.....all three are official Olympic sports. But if any event deserves to be put in the Olympics, its pankratium....seeing as how it was in the ancient Greek Olympics.

Yeah, pankratium defenitely deserves to be in the Olympics. If it doesn't get in, then the Olympics are no longer the Olympics. It'd become more of a sports-a-palooza, y'know? I mean why wouldn't they add pankratium?

Iconised Ghost Its almost like karate isnt ancient greek enough xp Well, if you wanna use that logic, you might as well get rid of nearly all the Winter sports and a grip load of the summer sports(i.e. swimming and gymnastics).

I really don't understand why some sports are included in the Olympics.

knight of disaster dont think it should happen unless its full contact and even thing id rather see something better get in. Although, it would be bad a** if they put daido juku in there. The space helmets would attract everyone. And for those who don't know what daido juku is, its basically kyokushinkai MMA...with helmets. Here is footage. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=01_kQd8pOus&feature=related

When I heard TKD was going to be in the olympics I was really excited. When I actually saw it I was disgusted... If the Olympics do to karate what it did to TKD, then no thank you

Jae Sung DarklingGlory When I heard TKD was going to be in the olympics I was really excited. When I actually saw it I was disgusted... If the Olympics do to karate what it did to TKD, then no thank you Exactly, of course, pankratium also runs a risk of the same fate. Well, already off the bat you know that they won't have traditional, ancient Greek pankratium....seeing as how it was literally NO RULES...even small joint manipulation was allowed. Currently, pankratium looks a lot like MMA, except no face punching. Now, the TKD sparring style you see in the Olympics has been a part of the World Tae Kwon Do Federation for quite a while. So I don't think it was the Olympics that messed up TKD, it was TKD that messed up TKD. But to be honest, I'd rather see that sparring ruleset in the Olympics than it's light contact, point sparring counterpart.
