Beta Quadrant Subspace Communications Array

While the name is very long, this structure has a relatively simple task. At least, simple in explanation. The "Beta Array", as the name is shortened to, provides subspace transmissions throughout the quadrant. It allows all ships in the area to stay in constant contact with one another if something goes wrong, or if they need information.

This area also relays missions and orders to different ships in the Quadrant and posts them for review with a simple hail. The Beta Array is also within the range of fire covered by Deep Space 12 and the Defense Turrets, and has 8 turrets of its own for defense.

Missions

To accept a mission, you must post IN CHARACTER in this thread as the captain of your ship accepting the mission you're undertaking. The post must include the Stardate, your ship name, and of course the mission that you are undertaking. This can all be created in a cool In Character post from the bridge of your ship! This thread is mainly an IC thread, so it should be treated like one, even if the beginning posts of it are a bit OOC. Any player can only undertake one mission at a time, even if they have secondary characters. Also, only the first post of accepting and the last post stating the mission is complete should be posted in this thread. All other posts relating to the mission should be posted in the specific thread for that mission. If a thread isn't made, it is usually the job of the mission-goer to create it using the guidelines below.

Use the Warp Speed Calculator to determine how long it will take you to reach your desired system. Some missions pay for the long voyage...

Use the Stardate Calculator to determine Stardates for your logs and mission reports, or you may list days instead if you'd rather keep track of your time that way.

Some missions take IC time to do. Making up extreme numbers while in-system to get more money from such missions WILL get the Mod Squad on you, something you'd like to avoid... No planetary Survey should take more than 3 IC days to complete, while travel time is determined by the Warp Calculator for crossing a sector. At Warp 5, which is the Rule Imposed limit for basic for Federation ships without Improved Warp Coils, it will take 34 Days to cross 1 Sector. This Thread can be used to Log your entries as you complete threads, and continue your mission. It can also be used for distress calls if you need assistance. This can be particularly helpful if you happen to run into a "Random Encounter" and require assistance during the fight.

Cargo

All ships can hold Cargo. A ship's Cargo hold is determined by the cost of the ship. A ship that's #1 on the list as the cheapest can carry 100 Tons of cargo. A ship that's #2 on the list can hold 200 tons of cargo and so on. The ships that are number 10 on the list can hold 1,000 Tons of cargo.

In-Mission Communications

Obviously you will have communications during missions that you're on. These communications should be posting in one of two places. Either the thread that you are in/you created for the mission, or in the Deep Space Thread at the top of every Sub-forum. The Deep Space Threads are the areas that make up most of the empty space in the Beta Quadrant. If you're headed somewhere, you will be in Deep Space until you arrive there, even while at warp.

If you want to contact another ship, all you have to do is make a post in the thread they are in, to alert them that you want their attention. An example of this is posted below.

USS Ragnarok
This is USS Ragnarok calling USS Enterprise. Come in Enterprise.

Once that is posted, the person you are trying to contact will be aware of your subspace message and can contact you through that thread. All posts from that ship that is not in-system will have to be in quotes like above to show that they are com chatter, and not from an actual ship in the area.

Creating a New Thread

Some Exploration Missions require the person accepting them to create new threads. New threads for areas will be created using the categories below. These categories should have at LEAST a paragraph for description. Very descriptive new threads may result in getting a Mission Bonus. Remember, proper grammar and spelling is a must since this will be part of your contribution to the guild as a member. So, if you need to, type the location out in Microsoft Word, or some other program that will allow you to check spelling and grammar.

NAME OF LOCATION - The name of the Place
DESCRIPTION - Physical description of the Place (Maybe effects on Starships?)
LOCATION - Location of the Place (Sector)
PEOPLE - What are the people like? (If any)
CLIMATE - Weather (if any) and if so what's it like? Be descriptive!
RESOURCES - Are there any resources here, and if so, what are they?
ANY OTHER ASTRONOMICAL DATA ABOUT THE SYSTEM

*All user-created threads will be checked by a Mod for validity, and to make sure no ridiculous or impossible threads are created.*

Task Force Missions

As the Beta Quadrant Exploration Initiative wishes to promote peace and cooperation among those engaged in its endeavors, it has recently created the "Task-Force Mission Directive." In essence, two (or more) captains of vessels may take on the same mission together in order to accomplish it more smoothly, and with the benefit of a helping hand to assist in more troubling encounters. The only downside to this is that the Mission Reward is cut down by 75% for each member over the one partaking of the mission.

EXAMPLE:
Mission Reward + 0 members = 10,000 Credits (Each Member)
Mission Reward + 1 members = 7,500 Credits (Each Member)
Mission Reward + 2 members = 5,625 Credits (Each Member)

NOTE: Members partaking of a Task Force Mission can not bring in more than one character (one Federation one Klingon), however, they may bring in more than one ship if they own more than one (a Nova and two Danube Classes) as long as the reward is split evenly among the members (not ships) involved.

Missions

System Colonization Mission - Ongoing
The time has finally come. After several new systems have been discovered, the Beta Quadrant Exploration Initiative has finally permitted the claiming and colonizing of unclaimed systems throughout the Beta Quadrant. Systems are to be colonized for the Governments of those who claim them, and are required to upkeep and defend this new territory as well. Failure to do so shall result in the removal of the system's claim. If the colony is founded by those other than the Federation, Klingon, or Romulan Governments, they are at their own discretion and to be treated as independent parties.

Optional Programs to assist the creativity: [ X ]

Before claiming a system, an exploratory mission is to be held by the Captain interested in the territory. A TOTAL OF AT LEAST FIVE DETAILED IN CHARACTER POSTS OVER A COURSE OF SEVERAL DAYS OR WEEKS IN CHARACTER TIME IS REQUIRED BEFORE ANY SYSTEM CAN BE CLAIMED. SIMPLY SCANNING A SYSTEM IS NOT ACCEPTABLE. If the system is to their liking, they may stake a claim on the territory. However, if a rival government wishes to dispute the claim, they may do so on their own terms. Claims are to be sent to Deep Space 12 and the Quadrant Communications System for recording. Any disputes are to be resolved between the involved parties, and no outside forces are allowed to act. Due to the small number of available systems, only one claim per person ((member)) is allowed at this time, unless a group decides to colonize a system. However, once claimed, members of the group can not split off to claim their own systems as it is a group commitment. This mission does not require permission from Deep Space 12 to undertake, however, a claim must be sent once the exploration mission is completed, or the system cannot be claimed by the party in question.

Patrol Missions - *Ongoing*
The Patrol Route is simple, starting at the bottom right corner of Sector D-12, continue down along the right side of Sectors D-13 and D-14 until you arrive at the bottom right of Sector D-14. Then, continue along the bottom of Sectors E-14 and F-14 until you arrive at the bottom right hand corner of Sector F-14. Continue up along the right hand side until you arrive at the bottom right of Sector F-13. Make a diagonal approach across sector F-13 to the opposite corner at the bottom right of Sector E-12. Finish the last leg of the route by following the bottom of Sector E-12 to arrive back at the beginning at the bottom right of Sector D-12. Do to this being a Patrol Mission, you must not exceed Warp 5. One Post, at least, per Sector. Can not be a one liner post. This mission should be broken up over a day or two real time, and should take place in the respective Deep Space threads unless entering a sector where a system is present. For the Romulan Patrol Mission, follow the same basic square pattern, but around F'vau instead.
----------> Course Correction (Beta Cestus Patrol): Avoid the Dunari system and navigate around it. The area has been claimed as Alliance territory as with the space between.

Available Patrols
Federation/Klingon/Independent Patrol Mission - Reward 10,000 Credits
Since the recent liberation of Beta Cestus III by the Cestian Alliance, the Federation has decided to keep a watchful eye on the area in the case that anyone makes any waves in the sectors nearby. No Federation ship is allowed in the area itself, unless first granted permission from the Cestian Alliance. Independents are free to move in or out, as are Captains of the Klingon government. Shields can be raised, but Weapons are to remain inactive. The USS Trial and the USS Nautilus, are already engaged in the route. However, two ships are not enough to patrol the entire perimeter. The Federation has also called upon any Klingon vessels in the area to assist.

Romulan Patrol Mission - Reward 15,000 Credits
With the new liberation of Beta Cestus III, the Romulans have moved their patrols to the space around F'vau. Two Firehawks are already assigned, but more vessels are needed. Patrols may be done under cloak, or with Shields and Weapons fully charged. All ships entering and leaving the territory are to be stopped and questioned. If they prove suspicious, they should be brought forward to the Command Vessel of the Romulan Government. Commander V'renek will personally make sure that any trespassers or potential enemies are persuaded not to cause any problems in Romulan territory.

I'm an Explorer, not an Escort! - Ongoing
(Reward: 50 Credits per day of travel at cruising speed - 7,500 Credits)
(Must have a total of 11 posts. 2 in DS12 - 8 in Deep Space - 1 in Hephaestus)
(Posts must be at LEAST 5 well-written sentences. Details are GOOD)

The findings of the exploratory mission to the Hephaestus system have been astounding. As such, the Federation Council has decided to send a very large number of exploratory missions to the system located in Sector M-15. They have enlisted the help of Federation, Independent, and Klingon vessels to act as escorts for the science vessels, most of which are very small and not heavily armed. You will escort the science vessels to the system, and then head back to Deep Space 12, escorting a different science vessel home that will have already been in the system for several weeks. Notify Deep Space 12 of Departure, and Arrival, on this mission. As the science vessels are easy targets, there is a possibility of hostile forces, so be on guard... Mission Limited to 1 Time per OOC Day

Beta Cestus Resource Transport - Ongoing
(Reward: 40 Credits-per-Ton up to total of 600 Tons - 1 ship only)
(Must have a total of 7 posts. 2 in DS12 - 4 in Deep Space - 1 in Beta Cestus)
(Posts must be at LEAST 5 well-written sentences. Details are GOOD)

The asteroid belts of the Beta Cestus System located in Sector E-13 are held by the Romulan Star Empire. Ever since their annexation of the planet by the Rebel Forces, now called the Cestian Alliance, the Romulans have been relocated to an extensive mining operation of asteroids containing Dilithium Crystals. However, with the new Cestian Alliance seemingly getting stronger, and with more ships sent to patrol, less of the materials have been getting mined. Thus, they have enlisted the help of any able-bodied Romulan vessels in carrying the material to Deep Space 12 for processing. As a reward for their loyalty, they have allowed the vessels to keep the Credits otherwise gained from the shipments. Notify Deep Space 12 of Departure, and Arrival, on this mission. Mission Limited to 2 Times per OOC Day

:Outstanding Bounties:

Bounty Posting - Reward 50,000 Credits
Prisoner Jacob Denning is wanted for crimes against the Klingon Empire, and for commandeering a Federation Prototype Runabout. He recently took over the ship transporting him to the Penal Colony and abandoned the crew on the desert planet of Bakrus. Later, he assaulted and captured a prototype vessel. His whereabouts are currently unknown. Due to these circumstances, the Klingon Government and the Federation have raised the bounty on him. This mission does not require a call to Deep Space 12 to partake in it, and can be undertaken by any number of individuals. Good hunting.

Bounty Posting - Reward TBA
The Romulan forces on Beta Cestus III have issued a bounty on any Beta Cestian Rebel captured. The reward will only be awarded if the prisoner is taken alive, as the Romulans have made it clear that they wish to use their own methods of judicial enforcement on the captured Rebels. As the Romulan forces have yet to identify any major players in the Rebel movement, all detective work must be left to the bounty hunters. This mission does not require a call to Deep Space 12 to partake in it, and can be undertaken by any number of individuals.

The Missing Ship - Reward 30,000 Credits
Starfleet Command has issued a reward for anyone who can return their stolen Prototype Runabout to them. It was last seen in the Arian System, however no clues have been found at that location. The vessel is now known to be in the hands of Jacob Denning. This mission does not require a call to Deep Space 12 to partake in it, and can be undertaken by any number of individuals. Good hunting.

Long Arm of the Law - Reward Varies
Toko Akumu, Fleet captain of the 43rd fleet has posted a bounty on any and all pirate vessels. Any vessel Identified as being a pirate will have an inherent bounty if no less than 25,000 if destroyed and 35,000 if captured. A pirate vessel must, (A) Be caught in the act of piracy., (Setups are allowed, if you have a transport or mining ship crew who is willing to act as bait to get a pirate vessel to attack, make sure to protect the crew at all costs.) (B) Have been identified as being pirate in nature in sensor logs of attacked ships, or (C) have named themselves as being pirates.

Claim of a bounty must be accompanied by either the captured vessel or in the event of the ships destruction, untampered sensor logs of the battle along with records of the pirates apparent guilt.

+++ Notice: Any persons who are caught faking records will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. In addition if a pirate status for a destroyed or captured vessel can not be confirmed, the captain will be called to court-marshal and may be subject to disciplinary action.

+++ Notice: A Special Bounty of 50,000 will be paid for the Destruction or capture of the SS Crimson Skull.

:::Begining of Mission:::

"Trinity to Deep Space 12, we are ready to embark." Ryan spoke into the com unit placed near the captains chair that she perched in on a daily basis. She rose from the strict confines of the chair, glancing over her deck crew. They were new, fresh from the academy or minor postings. Anxiety rose from each of them like a cloud, these were uncertain and scared people, new at exploring such a fresh region. Ryan smiled confidently, so was she. "Deep Space 12 to USS Trinity, we are prepared for your departure, I repeat, you may leave the station" Spoke a deep voice from the other end of the communications unit. Ryan felt the docking clamps releasing her and her ship, slicing the ties from her and the sanctuary of such a station. "You ready?" Ryan asked the piolt informally. His recently buzzed hair nodded repetadly. "Didn't think so." She muttered to herself, giving a jaunty smile to her crew. "Computer, logg Stardate 61426.5 into the database as the day we begin out mission" She spoke into the wall. A cheerfull beep acknowledged her request. Nothing was like being out on open waters.
"Engage to the Arian System, warp five." Ryan ordered, watching the viewscreen of tranquil stars fly past.

"Orwell to Deep Space 12 , requesting permission clearance for embarking" Kalinin spoke towards the ceiling (he knew that the computer would transmit his voice whatever he did but it was a bad habit to break). He sat at the navigation panel ready to get, and anxious to get under way. The colony on Beta Cestus III was paying good credits for a ship to bring in supplies, but it was long journey to make.

"Deep Space 12 to USS Orwell, we are prepared for your departure. You may embark when ready." Spoke a voice from the other end of the comm. unit.
"Well, time to get under way. Computer, log stardate 60763.2 into the database as date disembarked from station and beginning cargo run. Course is set for Beta Cestus III in Sector E-13, estimated time of arrival 136 days. End log."

Kalinin moved the ship away from the station and then went to warp. As the stars began to fly past the window, he leaned back to enjoy the ride.

"Dock signals clear, Commander," Lieutenant D'Sal informs Reinette.

Reinette views the situation through the view screen. Drydock area is clearing, work lights goes out, and warning lights go on. "Commander's Log, stardate 61440.2, ready to launch on the shuttle's first misson. We are to explore the Arian System in sector C-14 and survey the three unknown planets in that area. We expect to arrive there within 50 days. With hope, we will not experience any misfortunes."

Commander Reinette ends the log and turns to Lieutenant Andrews. "Thrusters ahead, Lieutenant. Take us out of dock."
