THE ICE FIELD
The temperature of the stadium suddenly dropped several degrees (just enough so breath was visual and winter-wear is needed) as the stadium floor shifted for the upcoming battle. The floor was made of extremely slick ice, which would make manuverablity, even simply standing, difficult. Crystal-like pillars reached skyward from the frozen water, reflecting the florescent lights to all sides of the battle-field.

"Wooooooo~Common lets battle~" Luna shouted to Kazuki, having dragged them both out of the chaotic hotel. "You get to be the first to battle my cute little new pokemon I got. Say hi to ChuChu!"
A white beam of light emerged from Luna's leg poket and slowly formed into a Raichu on the arena floor. ChuChu tested the slippery ground nervously. "Nyaaaaaaa?" She asked to her trainer.
Luna leaned down to her knees to make eye-contact with the Raichu. "We're just having a battle, GO KICK SOME BUTT!" She shouted, punching her arm into the air.
ChuChu imatated this pose. "RAI-RAICHU!" <<KICK BUTT!>>

"Okay," Kazuki said hesitantly, taking his place at the opposite end of the field. He hadn't any idea how Ryou would fare during his first battle. It wasn't that he was afraid the Umbreon wouldn't be able to battle well, he was more worried of what the bitter creature would do. How would he react to the concept of battling other pokemon for no apparent reason?
With a deep breath, the short trainer pressed the button in the center of the pokeball, releasing the dark-type in a flash of white light. "Bre?" The Umbreon questioned, flicking his ears, feeling slightly overwhelmed by all the noise. Lots of loud cheering from humans, but a cool breeze rustled through his fur. They were in the city now, why would it be cold? The golden ring on his forehead glowed blue for several moments as he saw the stadium through Kazuki's eyes, but only succeeded in confusing himself further.
The short trainer knelt down beside Ryou and scratched him behind the ears, hesitantly attempting to explain the situation. "We're going to battle Luna and her Raichu, ChuChu. If you can beat ChuChu, then Luna will make a plushie for Manami. You'll get extra treats when we get back home, whether you win or not," he added the last part hastily, seeing the warning backwards flick of the Umbreon's ears.
After a few moments of consideration, the dark-type nodded his head once before trotting forward a few paces, stopping and getting into a battle-ready stance. "Umbreon!"

"Okay ChuChu! Let's start this off with a bang! THUNDER!"
"Rai Raiiiiiiii~!" Raichu agreed, jumping onto a pillar of ice, just barely managing to grip onto the tip without slipping. "RAIIIIIIIIIIII--" A large maniacal grin spread on the sweet mouse pokemon's face, "CHUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!" ChuChu looked...well, constipated.
Electricity raced its way into the sky, meeting the clouds from above which grew darker and darker. Thunderclouds came. Right above Umbreon, a hole in the clouds came and thunder raced down at the Umbreon.

"Careful, Ryou! Quickly, dodge it and use shadow ball!" Kazuki shouted, hugging his arms around him for warmth, his breaths coming out in clouds.
The Umbreon didn't need to see to know that a powerful bolt of energy was hurtling towards him. In a flash his forehead ring glowed dark blue as he saw through the eyes of the Raichu above him, seeing the layout of the pillars. Fortunately for him he had lived on ice and snow his entire life; he dug his back claws into the frozen water and sprung forward across the ice, landing on his side and kicking the nearest pillar to shoot in a different direction. As he glided along the ice, several orbs formed around him, growing rapidly in size. He loosed one that shot towards the Raichu above him, and another one hurtled towards ChuChu as the dark-type kicked off from another pillar. He slid onto all fours and dug his claws into the ice to come to a sudden halt, and he released two more dark balls of energy. Each flew in a curved path, hurtling towards the Raichu at breakneck speed.

((I SHALL BREAK MY UNLUCKY STREAK! scream ))
"RaiRaiRaiRaiRai!" ChuChu exclaimed, shaking her head. She did NOT like someone inside her head. That was just plain RUDE! When the shadow ball attack hit her, she was unprepared and knocked backwards from her pillar and onto the cold, hard ice.
ChuChu jumped up again right after falling. "RAIIIIII!" She was steaming with anger.
"ChuChu! Don't let him get to you! Use dig!"
"Nya!" Raichu dug into the ground. It was so dark there, but using her ears, she could vaguely determine where everything was. It was silent for a few minutes before she finally broke out of the ground to attack Ryou, using her claws, teeth, taill, and every other bodypart she had.

"Careful, Ryou!" Kazuki called, apprehension present in his voice. His warning came a bit late, however, as the Raichu surfaced beneath Ryou. He backed up suddenly as he felt the presence come closer, but in his shock he slipped and fell, taking most of the attack. He rolled over several times before he managed to get a grip on the slippery ice again, climbing to his feet. Kazuki called out another command quickly, snapping Ryou back to reality. "Try psychic!"
"Umbreon!" The dark-type snarled, ears pinned to his skull. Every ring on his body glowed dark blue, as did his eyes, as a giant ball of purple-colored of energy materialized in front of him. This one, however, swelled to the size of a basketball before Ryou sent it hurtling towards the Raichu.

Raichu's eyes widened to disc saucers. "Whaaaaaaa! BIG!"
She was slammed into a nearby ice pillar, hard, and fell onto the ice floor.
"Ack...you know, when you see a large, ominous purple ball of energy, you flee from it! Duh! Don't you pay attention to the TV you love so much?" She teased her pokemon.
ChuChu jumped back up, just to slip back down again. "Chuuu..." She really hated the ice.
"Well, let's try this then! Hidden power!"
ChuChu closed her eyes to concentrate. She could use her supah mental powers too! She willed the battleground to attack the umbreon. Her eyes snapped open. "CHU!"
Ice immediately sprung from the ground below Ryou. Spiky ice.

Ryou hissed as a large icy spike shot out from the ground beneath him, its tip grazing his shoulder and leaving a long gash that began to bleed a bit. He quickly shot off to the side, sliding on all fours across the ice to avoid the painfully sharp spikes. Kazuki closed his eyes, trying to think quickly. "Uh, umm... Uhh... Oh, oh! Ryou, use psychic on the ice spikes!"
(Is that what hit me?) The Umbreon wondered, but quickly stopped and spun around, digging his claws into the ice to prevent him from sliding further. All the rings on his body, as well as his eyes, glowed dark blue for a few moments before a dark blue substance seemed to trickle off his body, though the rings still glowed just as brightly. The pure energy pooled beneath the dark-type for a few moments before it quickly surged across the ice-floor towards the icicles protruding from the ground. Surrounding the spikes, the energy caused the spikes of ice to glow the same dark blue for a few moments before they were torn from the icy floor. The now-floating spikes hovered in the air for a few seconds before Ryou sent them hurtling towards ChuChu.

OH CRAP! Flying icicles? ChuChu couldn't help but be surprised. It was her first battle afterall.
"JUMP!"
ChuChu did so, but a moment too late. The ice also made it difficult for her to do so. Her right paw got nailed by a spike, leaving a small gash. "Chuuu..."
"Eh...well, that didn't work too well. Okay, let's try long distance attacks for now." Luna said, knowing ChuChu's mobility was now limited due to her paw. "Thundershock! At the ice!"
"Chuu~!!!!" ChuChu sent out a large stream of electricity into the ice. It crept through like a current, headed in a zig-zag pattern towards Ryou's legs.

"Quick!" Kazuki shouted, his hands balling up into fists in his excitement. "Jump onto one of the pillars to get away from the thundershock!"
Ryou didn't need to be told twice. His eyes glowed dark blue as he saw through Zuki's eyes, and he dug his claws into the ice to sprint across the ice and onto the nearest pillar. With an effort and several moments' time he was at the top, flicking his tail. However, a small amount of electricity climbed the pillar and gave the Umbreon a painful jolt. He growled, gritting his teeth, and pinned his ears back against his skull. What attack would be good retaliation? Maybe--
"Try dark pulse!"
The dark-type flicked his tail. He had to give the boy credit, he was learning. Ryou's forehead ring began to glow, and slowly a misty dark blue energy began swirling around all four paws. "Breee...." He flicked his tail back and forth quickly several times before launching into the air, performing a single flip prior to landing hard on all four paws. His painful landing (and he somehow managed not to slip and fall) caused wave upon wave of dark energy to ripple out around him, hurtling towards the Raichu.

"Common ChuChu! Let's go through it! Skull bash!"
"Rai Rai!" ChuChu said, getting a head start towards the pulse. She was slowly getting use to the ice arena. It was kinda like sticking a foot to the ground and pushing off with the other foot. And balance. But she had her nifty tail for that.
She closed one of her eyes as she passed through the dark pulse. Pain signals flared up in her body, but she pressed onwords. When she approached Ryou's pillar, she used the other pillars as bouncing platforms so she could pingpong off them, getting higher and higher off the ground and towards Ryou's main pillar.
"Almost there!"
Finally, she was able to aim towards Ryou. She kicked off the pillar hard and spiraled towards the dark pokemon, heads first.

"I don't think so!" The short trainer called with a grin, running his fingers through his hair. Though Ryou was blind, he knew the Umbreon could dodge fairly easily. Such a straight-forward attack, a physical one at that, would be easy for the dark-type to avoid. But hmm... "Ryou! Stay on the pillar!"
(Stay on the pillar? Is he crazy?! Unless he wants me to.. Ooh, smart boy.) As ordered, the sightless Umbreon settled himself on the pillar, his eyes and all of his circular markings glowing dark blue. And there he waited, sensing ChuChu grow ever-closer, until...
"Faint attack!"
In an instant Ryou leapt off the pillar, completely dodging ChuChu's attack, and seemingly disappearing into thin air. After several moments he appeared above the Raichu, ready to slam into her with his own physical attack.

"THUNDERSHOCK!"
ChuChu's head was spinning from the sudden faint attack. What the heck was going on? Umbreon...was on her? ...Thundershock? OKAY! ChuChu's whole body started to cackle with electricity. Ryou was in a close range, the attack was almost bound to be successful.
