*Finally she had been freed from the confined of her woven enclosure and away from her parents and brother. Though she was sure they would get mad if she wandered off... Which she did. Stretching her small multi-colored wings out at her sides she tried flapping them enough to get off the ground... No good, she grew tired too quickly trying to fly like she had seen daddy do. Young Wicapi sighed as she folded her feathers back to her sides and stared at the still frosty ground as the sun had yet to rise upon her dawning. Her family was still asleep at their lake front home, she wanted to explore without eyes watching.
Stopping at the base of the mountain where her parents lived, and where she lived, Wicapi looked around, the crisp morning wind making her thin legs knock together from the cold, maybe she should have stayed until the sun rose... Nah! Shaking her head, making her pale mane ruffle just a bit, her pace picked up to an easy trot, she was heading out to see the sights, unknowing of who or what she might run into... With much in mind the young filly was growing more and more excited about her adventure that she soon found herself at a gallop, but this was just an added edge.*

She had managed to run off while playing with her siblings, breaking out of the forest into the open plains at the base of the mountains. A bright smile curved her mouth as she gave her head a light toss, thin wings fluttering. The air was cold, yes, but it was a beautiful morning and her energy kept her warm... Along with the knowledge that her father wouldn't be all that far behind her. He had told them that he would always be there to keep an eye out for them... And she'd be just fine.

*She couldn't stop even if she wanted too, but when something broke from the trees, Wicapi slammed on the brakes and came to a skidding halt that wouldn't end too well... She had been going full steam a head while her young golden eyes looked around the open plain as she headed toward the trees. A white and lavender banner of a tail flapped behind her her dark colored hooves digging into the frosty ground to propel herself even faster.
Wicapi hadn't thought that maybe others were awakening this early in the morning. only caught a glimpse of movement before her before there was something standing there in the wide open of her path. Her small wings burst open in an attempt to stop, but it was going to be no use, she was going too fast to stop in time. Wicapi could only close her eyes and grit her teeth and await for the impact with another figure, she could only home that whatever it is that she would more then likely run into wouldn't... Well... Kill her for it...*

She let out a rather loud, indignant squeak as she was barreled into, pulling her wings against her body to keep them from being damaged as she went down in a tangle of long, awkward legs. "Owwwwww." She whined as she closed her eyes, not quite sure as to what had hit her... Or why it had done so.

*Having been pretty much sitting on the ground when she laid on the brakes, Wicapi lowered her head as she collided with another foal about her age. Falling completely onto her belly her wings pressed her her sides, she lay under the other in a mess of bodies and legs. It was an odd way to meet someone, actually it really wasn't a way to meet anyone. Laying there for a few moments, her mind a blur from the fast movements and the sudden weight upon her back, Wicapi looked as if she were knocked out cold. Moments later she dragger herself out from under the other foal, her golden eyes looking apologetically at the other, darker foal.*
"I'm sorry, sosososososo! Sorry." She whined looking to other over. "I don't know what had gotten into me.. I don't I don't I don't."
*She was speaking too fast for her own mind to keep up and she had to stop between lines to breath. Her own wings fluttered at her sides as she noticed that this one had wings too! But... They were different then her own, they looked very strange, like a butterflies wing. Was this foal a butterfly? Could she possibly chase it? She remembered her father talking about his sister, her aunt, who liked butterflies and was always chasing them. Maybe this one would flutter and she could chase it? Again her mouth was going to speak faster then her mind..*
"What are you? Are you a butterfly? If you are, can I chase you? My aunt chases butterflies, or so daddy says. Who are you? Can we play?" Many questions at once it was a wonder her brain didn't explode, or the other's for that matter.

She got up slowly, giving her head a light toss in an attempt to rattle her brain back into place. Pale pink eyes drifted towards her assaulter... Whatever had hit her wasn't all that bigger than she was. Just a little bit, if that.
She turned her head to glance at her wings, stretching the delicate appendages out before giving them a light flutter. Once she was certain that they were alright and that she hadn't been damaged she smiled brightly. Everything was alright!
... And then the barrage of questions started. Her eyes went wide as she listened to the chatter, trying to make sense of it enough to respond. "... Ina. No. No. Ina. Play?"

*Her dark ears perked up as the other filly as it turned out, was alright and her wings were undamaged. They looked really pretty and Wica had to take a closer look at him, though she most likely stepped too close into the bounds of personal space then she should have. But she came out of her small 'trance' when she heard the other started to speak. Backing away quickly, Wica tilted her head to the side.*
"I'm Wica... Wicapi Wakan, though Daddy calls me Wica for short. And it's easier to say." She nodded quite quickly. "So you name is Ina?" she asked tilting her head to one side again.
*Wica had momentarily forgotten that she had asked the other filly to play. She was more interested in the wings she had, they looked prettier then her own feathered wings like her father. Then again, she was the only one, besides her father who had wings.. That she knew of. Her mother and brother didn't have wings, they were what daddy called, 'grounded'. She had to wonder if she was grounded as well, being that she couldn't fly just yet.*

She nodded slowly. "Inakamono." She pronounced just as slowly as she had noddded, wanting to make sure that she got it right. After she said that she smiled brightly. "Ina." That was far easier though... Much like 'Wica' was easier than 'Wicapi Wakan'.
She blinked and, after a moment, glanced at the other filly. "... Feathers? Like a bird?"

*Wica tilted her head as she watched the other filly nod slowly then pronounce her long name, one that she certainly wouldn't be able to say or remember the next day, but she would remember the smaller version of 'Ina'. Or at least she would try. Wica snapped out of her own thoughts as Ina mentioned something about feathers and birds. She had to figure that it was about her own wings, the wings she had inherited from her father's line.*
"See?" she asked spreading out her small glossy feathered wings at her side, showing the multi colors. "I suppose they are like a bird's wing, but I don't know. I certainly can't fly yet." Wica giggled as her pale tail twitched behind her. "Can you fly?" she asked folding her own wings back to her sides. " wish i could fly." She added more to herself then anyone else.

"Fly..." She turned her head as she stretched out her own wings, giving them a slight twitch that made the delicate membranes flutter. "... No." She shook her head slowly. Her wings were still too new; too small to carry her body without whatever it was that made it possible for flutters to fly. She hadn't seen her mother fly yet... So the thought of whether or not she could wasn't up in the foreground of her mind. "Can run though... And jump."

Wica watched Ina as she fluttered her wings for a moment before answering her question. At the answer Wica hung her head just a little, she couldn't fly either. Her own wings shifted upon her sides, the feathers fluffing out a little before falling back into place.*
"I can't fly either. Daddy says I'm not big enough and my wings aren't strong enough." She shrugged letting her head hang again, her golden eyes watching the ground. "I can run as well, but jump... I don't quite know, the last time I tried I landed on my face." She smiled looking away as a wash of warm blush came to her face.

"Start small." She nodded slowly as she gave her backside a little wriggle before trotting a few steps and hopping, carefully landing on her feet. "See! Like flying for a few seconds... Maybe."

*Wica watched Ina do a small, 'jump', she tilted her head to one side. It looked simple enough, though she looked at herself and wondered why it was taking her so long to make a good jump. Closing her eyes for a moment as she thought, remembered and plotted on her own start to jumping. The last time didn't land too well.*
"Well, here goes nothing." She muttered backing up a couple of paces.
*After taking two steps, she went to take the steps back and make the small jump. Everything was looking good, she kept her mind in just a small jump. Stopping she moving and soon 'hopped', her wings fanning out at her sides as she was momentarily lifted off the ground. With her wings out as they were, she came back to the ground, even if it was only a couple of inches, with an easy glide. Landing, Wica had closed her eyes awaiting to feel her left collapse beneath her, but nothing happened.*
"I did it didn't I?" she asked carefully opening her eyes to make sure that she was back upon the ground, safely.

"Yes!" She smiled, giving a little prance around the other filly, absolutely delighted by the performance. "You did it! You jumped and fluttered and landed and it was perfect. You even landed on your hooves, not your face!"
