Does anybody have any exercises to increase left hand dexterity and speed? It would be greatly appreciated if people could post some! Also explain a little bit on how to tackle the lick/riff.

i don't know any specific exercises, but i read somewhere that working out your tricep muscles (the ones on the back of your arms) it can really help speed.

practice with a metronome and increase it by 10 bpm, and once you get to the point where your speed isn't totally even, back it off ,and work up to it. simple as that.

the catipiller. look it up on a site that lists guitar techniques and if u keep it up you'll be amazed at how fast you can pick and play the frets.

heres a good tip , before you play the exerice of what ever your playing or learning . First look at it , dont play it look at it . Then finger it on the fret board , but dont play it . Just get it in your mind frist . After all that .... PLAY IT !!! it should be easier cause your brain already knows what to do with your fingers . Then speed up what ever your doin .
And ... remember to watch your fingers . Make sure they're inside and not goin all crazy when your playing . Same goes for your picking hand .
