I am truly displeased with the voice actors of the anime. Don't get me wrong - I think it's great that it's on tv, but they could have done so much better. Light's voice just doesn't fit. L has and english accent? WTF??
I guess Ryuk's voice is okay.

It almost pains to me to watch it in english. The minute I got the DVD, I watched it all in Japanese. Much better!!

They sound all retarded.
I know it's hard matching the voices BUT COME ON!
Are they really serious?
Ratio sounds like he effing 12 years old when he is clearly near college.
Like I want to shoot myself when ever I flip by.

L has and english accent? WTF??

Hello? L is 1/4 Brittish and has lived in England for Five years (He's born french)

Geez, I guess speaking brittish english is SO bad? Honestly, I think it's suitable, after all, Watari has spent all his life with him since L was 8, and so on.

For an english voice, L's completely fine ^^

Raito's... though... *No comment*

So says Wikipedia. Frankly, it doesn't matter if he's British by heritage or not. He lived there long enough to acquire an accent because he was at the Wammy House as a child. So a British accent, believe it or not, is sensible.

Well, by all means, if Wikipedia says it, it must be true. You know, not just anybody can edit info on those pages. And it was never said if Wammy's was in America or not. Unless Death Note 13 says differently, I will continue to believe that L isn't british.

My God yeah, it's weird that L has a british accent. Hey, Raito also has an american accent. How weird is that?

And don't even get me started on Finding Nemo. God, it was so bizarre, when all the fish started talking, don't you agree?

Sarcasm aside, have you actually read the manga? It says in there. Volume 3, page 71. It say's L's from England, and that he lived there for five years. It's perfectly logical if they use an enjoy voice actor for him. Likewise, Raito isn't exactly american, but he speaks with an american accent.

Agreed. And for your information (Uwajima) It's from volume 13 ^^ if I don't remember wrongly, it's either in his profile information or in one of the information pages, or the interview with the author and artist ^^

I have volume 13, but my japanese isn't perfect, so I haven't managed to read through it. But I know it says so in it, since my classmates (I'm in japan, they're all japanese) told me it does. And I trust them on that ^^

But I have to agree, his japanese Seiyuu is better (I love Yamaguchi Kappei X3)

I like the voices.. o3o; Light just needs to practice his laugh. I don't think he sounds young; he sounds about his age. I'm not sure about L yet, but maybe it'll be better later on in the series. Voice actors can't immediately adjust to a character, right?....Light's dad is ********, though.

And Wammy's House is in England, if I remember correctly.

The English voice actors aren't amazing but they're not that terrible. I was seriously skeptical when I first heard that it'd be English dubbed, but they aren't that painful to listen to. I've heard worse. I've not heard L's voice yet, but I will be quite pissed off if it's a really over exaggerated British accent as most anime ones seem to be. Seriously, we aren't all posh or cockney. -_-; But aside from that, the voices are okay. I like Ryuk's, especially his laugh. Light needs to work on his. xD

Light's voice was... obviously trying to follow how the original sounded like (especially in laughing) but... I can't quite put it into words. It's not THAT bad, but it's not THAT good either.

L's voice however, suited, BUT the way he was talking with the voice was... ugh... he needs to be more MONOTONE with his speech!!

Ryuk's voice disturbed me. It really didn't fit, imo. Ryuk's japanese voice was a lot more playful/mischievous and you could really tell he was awfully bored and wanted to just fool around the whole time. The english voice sounded more of... trying to be a cool and scary monster. Bah...

I dont think its right for him to have an accent. I mean, I had no clue he lived in britian(i am just that oblivious). But if there is no evidence in the show to suggest that, and a fan would have to go out of their way to find out where he lived, then I dont think its right to give him an accent...But I did skip one or two episodes so if I'm wrong just ignore this smile
