Arsenic hung around the old willow that Daveigh and her mate had made their home. He paced around the tries, flickering his ear at the sound of running water coming from the nearby stream. The sound wasn't quite so comforting in this dead silence. Oh how he wished his sister would hurry and return home. He'd had another one of his nightmares and he needed to see family to calm his nerves. He wouldn't even mind just seeing his neice right now. He didn't see Deja nearly enough anyways.
His nightmare last night had been much like the one when he'd first found himself in these lands. But instead of the feline being his sister it was pure black. Just like the first time he'd had the dream he woke up feeling like the claws really had torn through his back, he was panting, and sweat made his coat stick to him uncomfortably. He'd hoped he would never experience it again but it seemed to be just as haunting as the fact that he didn't feel quite so much like himself.
He missed his mother. She could have made this all feel better...

Adia stood at the banks of a stream her face turned into the wind which blew up stream to her. The scent she caught upon the wind surprised her into shock. She'd been out in unknown lands searching for her son and daughter who had disappeared months ago. She'd gotten so far out that she had been unable to find her way back home even with her fairly good sense of direction.
Unable to go back she'd carried on night and day all alone and missing her children terribly but hope still lingering that she'd find them. Not long ago she had lost the lingering traces of trail she had found of her son and having lost her daughters long before then she fell deep into a rut of depression and sadness. She began to simply wander with no direction at all. She'd wandered through heat, rain and even sleet at one time without even noticing it in her grief.
Now she stood on the bank the first time in over a week she had actually payed attention to her surroundings. Of course she didn't know them but the scent of her daughter wafting to her was enough to get her to pay attention and follow the scent.
Daveigh moved along the bank of the stream heading back toward her willow home with her daughter Deja at her side. The pair had gone for a drink while Yukio and Kama had gone to eat from a meadow not too far in the other direction from the stream. Looking at Deja, Daveigh was always amazed by just how much Deja looked like her father. She was like a female copy of him while Kama, though he looked more like her, had a combination of both her and Yukio. Thinking about how she had brought the two into being always mystified her evertime she looked at them. They were both so big now and it always seemed just like yesterday that they had been little foals playing under the protective limbs of the willow tree. Daveigh smiled at the thought but soon realized that may have been a bad idea.
Deja glanced over at Daveigh and quirked a brow. "What?" She asked. Daveigh blinked coming back into the now really seeing her daughter as she gazed at her. "What what?" Daveigh asked in reply. "What?" Deja repeated. "You were staring and smiling at me. Is there something on my face or something?" She asked. Daveigh giggled. "Oh no. I'm sorry Deja. I was just thinking." Deja gave a huge sigh at this. "Oh here we go again."
Daveigh gave a defensive look and huff. "And what is that supposed to mean young..."
"Uncle Arsenic!" Deja cried out and ran forward as they came into view of the willow tree. Daveigh gave a huff as she followed at a slower pace behind Arsenic and smiled at him. "Hey Arsenic. You haven't been here by yourself too long have you?"

Arsenic perked his ears as he heard the bickering of his you niece, and the defensive voice of his sister. He chuckled quietly to himself, rounding the tree to face them. He was always so baffled by how large his niece had gotten. Soon she'd have a mate and foals of her own. Oh dear how he dreaded that day.
At her outcry he smiled and nuzzled his cheek to her, smiling back at Daveigh. He flicked his ear as he shook his head in response to her question. "Any wait is worth seeing family." He smiled, stepping forward to nuzzle her as well.
"I had another nightmare last night. I couldn't stay alone. It bothered me." He face turned to an expression of almost shame. He wasn't happy to admit that his nightmares still terrorized his mind in waking hours. It was unusual for a grown stallion to be like that.

Deja was happy to recieve a nuzzle from the uncle she adored more than any other uncles she had even though he was her only uncle she knew of. Seeing him always put her into an excited almost foal-like state and ready to play even though she was techniquely a fully grown mare. The only problem was her mind had not quite caught up with her body.
Daveigh giggled at her excited daughter and smiled brightly at her sweet brother. Anytime she got to see him she could never keep from smiling. He was the only bloodkin she had around from the old days but she really wished there were more especially her mother she could have used her mother's guidance when Kama and Deja were foals.
As Arsenic spoke of his reason being here Daveigh gave a slight concerned frown and nuzzled him again. "Oh Arsenic." She replied as she pulled back from him to gaze into his eyes. "Was it the same as the one you told me about before?"

Arsenic let his gaze lock with hers. "Not as bad. You weren't the monster this time. But it was so very similar. It was a pure black feline this time. Daveigh, I woke up feeling as if the claws really did rake down my back. I'm afraid it's going to come true. What is there is some sort of monster after me?" His soft voice got smaller and smaller, like a young foal afraid of getting in trouble. "Those steel-like claws... Daveigh I don't want to feel them."

Daveigh's ears fell back against her head. She could hear her brothers fear in his voice, see it in his eyes. It couldn't be missed just how much this dream had bothered him. "Arsenic I really don't think you'll ever feel those claws. It was dream, just a dream. In dreams you choose what happens, remember that if you have that dream again. Don't let the feline scare you, fight it and smash it's head under your hooves."
Deja gave a disgusted expression at her mothers vulgar words. "That's gross mother." She said just as her ears caught the sound of hooves upon the trampled path that led to the stream. Slowly she turned her head spying another mare the same deep red Uncle Arsenic was and with the same black mane he had too. "Uh mother... Who's that?"
Adia couldn't believe her eyes the closer she moved towards the three Soq near the weeping willow. Standing there together were her children talking to one another. Alive and well or was she dreaming? How could she be sure? There was only one way. "Arsenic? Daveigh?" She called out hoping beyond hope they would turn and they would be just who she thought they were.

Arsenic shook his head. "You don't understand. The feline is harmless. It's the huge, steel-clawed, red-eyed montster it turns into." He almost whimpered as he spoke. He could still picture it as if it were standing right before him. Deja's question snapped him out of his frightful memory, and when the sweet voice he knew all too well drifted into his ears he choked, spinning his around so fast it was a wonder it didn't give him whiplash.
There, standing before them, was his mother. It had to be a dream. "M-mother?" It was hard for him to get the word out. It had been so long since they'd seen her. "This isn't another one of my dreams is it?" He was rooted to the spot, unable to think of what to do.

Daveigh blinked with her eyes wide as Arsenic spoke. A big monster with red eyes would certainly send her running no matter how big her courage was. She knew when it was a good time to retreat. "It's still your dream Arsenic. You can do whatever you want in your dream." Daveigh told him trying her best to help him to not be so scared of his dream but pretty sure she was failing at it. However as she thought of more she could say to help her brother the voice of someone familiar caught her attention and she turned her gaze past her brother to near the trail to the stream and her jaw dropped.
"Mother?!" Daveigh's voice came out in a high pitched squeak. "She-she's standing right there. Arsenic if this is a dream I'm gonna be extremely disappointed in the morning." Slowly Daveigh stepped forward towards her mother. Every step was slow and cautious as though she was expecting the sight before her to disappear without warning to leave her staring at an empty spot.
Adia almost laughed in relief as both Daveigh and Arsenic turned so she could see their faces full on and she was totally sure that the pair were her children. "My babies!" She cried out just before she ran to Daveigh, who was closer now, and nuzzled her lovingly. "I thought I would never see either of you again!"

Arsenic's breathing was shallow for a moment before he races forward, nuzzling his mother uncontrolably. He pressed his whole body to her, choking back tears. "Mother!" He cried out. He almost seemed to be afraid of putting any space between them. "Mother, I missed you so! I'd lost home looking for Daveigh, I'd lost hope of seeing you!"

Adia couldn't help the big uncontrolable smile on her face even as she was squished into the middle of a big Soquili sandwich. Being in the middle of her long lost children made all the difference of her current state. "Oh my goodness! Arsenic, Daveigh! You're both here! I never dreamed I'd find you much less together!" Adia exclaimed as she switched off in which she nuzzled. Turning to Arsenic and nuzzling him she addressed him. "After you disappeared I knew where you had gone. I snuck out late one night only days later. I knew they wouldn't let me go if I told them I was going but when I got out and began looking I got lost too. Oh you don't know how relieved I am to have finally found you both!"
Unlike Arsenic who was holding his tears back Daveigh just let hers flow freely. Her heart was singing with joy. She finally had her mother with her and she had her brother too, this new place was finally starting to feel more like home than it had ever before.
Deja kept her distance and just watched as her mother and her uncle ran to this mare like little foals and nuzzled all over her while calling her 'mother'. She was in shock. No wonder this mare looked so much like her uncle Arny. Peering at the mare Deja felt so strange. She knew everyone had a mother and father but she had never even stopped to wonder what her own mother's mother was like or who she had been. Now seeing her she was just overwhelmed.

Tears started to slip and unwillingly Arsenic choked on a sob. "I'm so glad you came. I couldn't have just lived without knowing where Daveigh had gone though." His eyes were screwed shut so tight that when he did open them his lids were sore. It was then that he noticed his neice standing completely bewildered by the sight. "Deja, this is our mother, Adia." He looked up at his mother. He'd let Daveigh introduce her daughter.

Daveigh looked over to her brother and smiled. She felt so loved to know he'd come out here away from their family just to find her. But her thoughts were soon interupted by her brothers words to Deja and she remembered her daughter standing there completely lost to the happenings.
Adia nosed Arsenic's cheek. "It's ok. I understand. I felt the same way after both of you disappeared. I couldn't live on without knowing where you two were. I was not expecting to find you both together though. I'm so happy right now." Adia said as she nuzzled Arsenic's cheek. As Arsenic addressed the mare Adia had not payed much attention to she turned her gaze to the mare and really took her in. She was surprised by how much the mare resembled a young stallion that Daveigh had loved named Yukio.
Deja's ears perked as she gazed at Adia with shock and awe. Their mother... Did that mean she was her grandmother? "Hello." Deja replied with a bow of her head.
Daveigh smiled at her daughter's greeting to Adia and felt very proud of her. It was a pride she wanted her mother to know all about. "Mom, this is Deja Vu. She's mine and Yukio's daughter."

Arsenic smiled at his niece and after nuzzling his mother once more, trotted to stand by her. He hoped his near-by presence would help rub off a bit of the shock and all. He knew it must be weird, not having grown up with a grandmother and then having a mare show up that was said figure. "This mare taught me everything I know." He chuckled, motioning to his mother, "She's a goddess on hooves."
