It was a crisp fall afternoon, the sort of afternoon where there is bright sunshine and a brilliant blue sky but the temperature felt like some early onset of winter trying to make a sneak appearance. However, the wind was mild in spite of its bite, and all in all it was a pleasant day. Before too much longer there'd be snow, and then those Soquilis that loathed the cold would be looking back on days such as this with longing, not the loathing they currently regarded the day with.
And then there were the Soquilis that were determined to appreciate each bit of warm weather for as long as such hints lasted, whether by basking in the sunlight, frolicking in the meadows, or doing whatever came first to mind. In the case of Raphael...that thing was flying.
High in the air, the blue stallion flew along with the grace of a swan, his large wings easily carrying him through the air. Sunlight sparkled on his blue body, highlighting every single fleck of gold, and making him stand out like a beacon to anyone that happened to be looking up. But he didn't care; all that mattered at the moment was he himself and his enjoyment of a beautiful autumn day.

Flying at his own leisure; Helios could almost smell the scent of winter coming on. For now, it would be sunny, and green, but already, the temperature had taken a drop, and the early winds of winter were making their way towards here. It wasn't an inconvenience however, a bite here and there. If anything, he enjoyed the cool air on a sunny day.
He enjoyed the changing of seasons, not particularly attached to any. All had their points, good and bad, thus he liked to enjoy each season to its maximum.
Leveling himself in the air, he had a graceful posture, his wings gliding over the wind. The appearance of Helios, a white body, clad with a light blue curly mane, often made him blend into the clouds, and the skies. His horn however, reflected the sunlights light well enough. Needless to say, he hadn't noticed the blue soquili, almost shimmering from the sun's reflection flying towards him, since he himself was preoccupied with the thoughts of the upcoming season.

The fact that the other stallion hadn't noticed Raphael was hardly something the blue stallion would have been in arms about, even if he was aware that the other stallion was even around. Raphael himself was oblivious to anyone's presence but his own, flying along at a brisk pace and enjoying the sensation of sunshine on his dark hide.
However, one thing that he was ALSO aware of was his own building thirst, a thirst that was directly responsible for a sudden and abrupt change of direction on Raph's part.
Spying a blue streak on the ground below, Raphael realized with a grin that it had to be a stream; perfect time to rest the wings and cool the lungs, all at once! That in mind, he reacted almost instantly, pulling in his wings and diving down to the ground below.

His attention was diverted from his thoughts, as he spotted Raphael out of the corner of his eye. Of course, in his view, all he saw was a blue object dropping from the sky. Mildly curious, but not nearly enough to attempt to chase it, he flew on, before he noticed a blue stream that went throughout the valley.
Feeling thirstier, Helios chuckled. He supposed that having some water would not hurt, especially if he had time to spare. Retracting his wings inside, he took a slow dive to the ground below, landing with a graceful posture. A graceful posture in the other soquili's landing spot, it might have seemed. Unaware that the blue object that he had seen might've been a soquili, he felt his gaze roam the river, with a peaceful tranquility.

Landing with a 'thud', Raphael was quick to close the disantance between himself and the water. Damn but he was thirsty, the idea of a cold drink his latest all-encompassing desire. That, and the equally pleasant-sounding idea of a nice, brisk, swim.
In his love of cold water, Raphael was truly his father's son. Ever since Zaphiro had been a small foal he'd delighted in brisk cold-water swims, relying on them to get his blood moving and help wake him up to face the day. When Zaphiro and Hienna had become mates, that little eccentricity had been something Hienna accepted in her mate, much as she disliked the concept herself. The arrival of their children had simply provided Zaphiro with the chance to develop a swimming companion, and he had, in Raphael.
Raph hazarded it was because of their exceptionally dark coats that they found the cold water so appealing. Unlike paler-coated Soquili, warmth tended to stay with them a lot longer, so the cold water was much more refreshing and much less frigid. Or that was his theory, anyway.
All that he knew was that he was warm, it was a sunny day, he was thirsty, and there was a river nearby; consequently, it was only natural that the second he landed he was wading out into the stream. Couldn't get a drink without water access, after all!
