I think he's probably dead. I was all excited to see if SAW IV would explain what had happened to him, but it didn't. Then I found there was this whole argument thing between Cary Elwes and the creators about royalties or something... so I don't know if we're ever gonna find out what happened to him.

One of the reasons why I believe that Dr. Gordon is alive is, although he didn't kill Adam, he cut off his foot using one of the saws provided by John Kramer, and WHY would JK put in an unnessecary item, if it couldn't save them. In all of HIS games (not amanda's) he's only given the tools needed for survival and since the saws were there, I believe it to be an alternative to killing Adam (which would INSURE his survival) because he's willing to shed blood in order to try and survive. Since Dr. G took one of the ways to get out of the trap alive (he was alive when he cut off his foot, there for was not longer "trapped", that John saved him (if the opportunity was given, though i'm sure it was.)

I would imagine he died from major blood loss and he's so stupid for cutting off his foot. There was another way to escape and that not being the smart one.
