To join, please post a picture of your quilin, so the others know who they're talking to. Candygram foals welcomed, as are quilin with non-Sanskrit names! The heat of the noon sun roused Caitali from her sleep. She stretched and shook her head, flower petals flying everywhere. Glaring, she looked up, where the jasmine shrub had been shaken almost bare. The mischevious giggle of a foal came from somewhere nearby in the dense forest surrounding her grove. She shook her head and smiled. A herd of nearly feral foals had taken up residence in her forest, and although they were cute, they were mischevious as anything, what with no proper parents to raise them. Aside from the foals, though, she hadn't met another quilin since taking up residence in the forest. She felt very lonely sometimes, but the jasmine grove was too perfect to leave.

Light hoofprints sunk into the lush grasses, making a small indent before rising up again, and once again stepping forward. It was very pretty, the scenery, and everything was so colourful. So very different from his own homeland. Not meaning to say his was not colourful or lush, but, just in a different way than this new place. Curiously, he sniffed at a small purple flower, sneezing as the pollen flew up into his nose. Quite pretty though, aside from the fact that it had made him sneeze.
A giggle that sounded a little ways off made Tong Hua raise his head, looking with mild interest in the direction of the sound. It sounded like foals if he had to guess. Huh, he hadn't known there were too many other qilin around these parts. He certainly hadn't seen too many on the way. But, he had assumed that it was because this was a different land, perhaps qilin were more rare here than in other parts. He started walking again, and not quite paying attention, almost missed the female who was resting near a grove of flowers. But, he wasn't blind, or didn't think himself to be, and her colouring was hard to miss. A deep black body, adorned with orange marking all over, with a mane to match. Well, this was new, another qilin! So there were some more in these parts, perhaps he had just missed them before.
"Hello there," he called out in a friendly tone, curious about this qilin and her land.

Caitali blinked several times in surprise as a stallion strode into the clearing. She had yet to see an adult qilin anywhere near the clearing, but here was one, as real as any could be. His body sparkled in the sun, a rich black tinted with other colors. "Erm, hello!" she called back as he approached. Remembering her mother's hospiality, she introduced herself. "My name is Caitali, and this is my glade. You are welcome to its shade and shelter."

Ah, her glade. So then she did indeed live here. Good to know, at least she could probably point things out that he would have no knowledge of. Still, interesting, the lack of other qilin around. Of course, there had been that giggle he'd heard earlier, and it had sounded like a qilin...but a young one, if his ears didn't mistake him.
"Thank you. Nice to meet you Caitali, I'm Tong Hua. It's a pretty place, your glade. Though to be honest I'm a bit surprised, you're the first qilin I've seen in these parts. Of course, I didn't arrive too long ago so perhaps it's just that I haven't been around enough." He gave a wry grin. He did suppose most qilin would travel around a good deal in a new land...but he was curious and enjoyed meeting others, and what better way to get to know the land than to get to know it's inhabitants?

Caitali smiled. "As far as I know, I am the only adult here... there is a feral herd of foals, but other than playing tricks, they never come near. That giggle was one of them shaking half the blossoms off of my shrub onto my head. I haven't explored terribly much, though, so I could be mistaken."

A soft snort was made as Yin hua breathed out and walked around. It was hotter than she was used to. Looking around as she blinded in slightly with the surroundings, she could slightly hear two people talking. She moved gently twords the voices softly stepping so she didn't make much noise. She kept walking slowly smelling the scents of Jasmine flowers filled the air helping her stay calm. Her heart raced thinking she may have found more Qilin. It had been a while since she saw some. She was still a young adult not having much time to have roamed around. She peaked out from behind some bushes and looked around carefully. ((Mind if I join you all?))

(not at all, the more the merrier^^)
Oh, feral foals. Well that would explain what he'd heard earlier. He thought it had been a foal. Turned out his ears weren't so bad after all. He grinned at her mention of the shaking the blossoms on her head. "Ah yes. Well, foals will be foals I suppose, playing any trick they can think up. I used to be like that." Ah yes, he remembered himself as a foal, he had loved nothing more than running around and getting underfoot of all of the adults. They had been more than a little annoyed with him much of the time, and had poured all of their efforts into finding more "productive" activities for him to do. Yes, he recalled that well. He missed it sometimes, just being so playful and carefree. But, there were advantages to being grown as well, and overall he enjoyed his venture into adulthood. Though, he was still young, so really he didn't have to settle down into all that responsibility quite yet.
He raised his head, hearing a small sound that sounded like hoofbeats on grass, and he swivled his ears, searching for the sound. He guessed it was probably one of those feral foals Caitali was talking about. Maybe it had coe to show itself? He called out to it, wanting it to know they were both friendly. "You can come out, don't worry, we don't bite," he chuckled as he watched for the qilin.

Lifting her head again and moving her ears gently Yin hua thought for a moment before coming out from behind the bush. She didnt' say anything at first she just looked at the other two quilin. One who she assumed to be the one that had called out after hearing her was, or appered to be sparkling she could see a gray, blue, brown, and sort of green coloring under the sparkling scales. His main was a light blue it almost made her think of fresh spring water. The other she was black and orange with markings that intrested Yin hua very much. Her main was bright orange making her think of a fruit or wild flower.
"Hello." She said softly as she looked around at her suroundings. She didn't move far from the bushes she had come out of incase her company was not wanted.

Caitali smiled at the new face. It belonged to a delicate earthen-hued female, who seemed quite nervous. "My, my! The world seems less lonely every moment! Welcome to my grove! I am Caitali, and my companion Tong Hua here and I were just discussing how the only other qilin that seem to be here is a rather uncivilized band of foals. Have you seen any others?"

Tong Hua heard the rustling and watched as the - well now wait, this new qilin certainly wasn't a foal! Huh, well he supposed it wasn't really his fault for assuming so, they had just been discussing the feral foals anyways, it was only logical. Luckily he managed to mask his surprise and turn it into a welcoming smile. He figured the mare needed it, she seemed quite nervous. And, the feral foals were, predictably, nowhere to be seen, which made him wonder brieifly what they looked like, the mischevious things. But then again, maybe the company of adults was better anyways, foals could sometimes be...a little more challenging to talk to. Especially spirited ones such as these.
"Hello to you too. As Caitali said, I'm Tong Hua, pleased to meet you." He smiled again encouragingly, not wanting her to feel nervous at all. She had no reason to be, which hopefully she would figure out shortly. Him and Caitali were both quite friendly.

Yin hua nodded to both of them. "I'm Yin hua. Its a pleasure to meet you both. As for other qilin no I haven't, at least none outside of us three." She said lightly. "Ah foals...I haven't seen any of them eaither." She said softly as she stepped a little closer. Her nervousnesss seemed to fade the more she talked. She stepped down gently and looked curiously at the jasmine bush that had been shaken earlier. She guessed one of two things happend there was wind earlier that day or a foal was up to their little tricks. Since Caitali and Tong Hua were both talking about fouls she guessed it was that.

"The foals are tricky little things. They don't show themselves often. I've only seen one of them once, when she accidentally fell out of the bush she was shaking, but I've heard four distinct voices." Caitali noticed that the mare's nervousness was beginning to fade.

Yin hua nodded. "Yes they can be rather tricky though they can also be quiet helpful if you can bribe them into it." She said softly with a slight smile.

Ah, good, the mare, Yin Hua as she had introduced herself, was looking less and less nervous the more she talked, which made him glad. Nervous qilin were generally not the best conversation companions, probably on account of their nerves. But, now that she was warming up, she seemed to be quite more interesting that he had first thought.
So, Caitali had seem one of the foals huh? Well, they were probably tricky little things that didn't like being seen anyways, or he was sure they would have seen them by now. And, he couldn't help but grin at what Yin Hua said. Bribing the foals? Yes, well that certainly was one thing that definatelyt worked on foals. Or, it had certainly worked on him before. Adults bearing treats were always the best kind in a foals mind. "That's true," he chuckled. "Treats can go a long way. Of course, once you run out of the bribe, they go right back to their former selves."

Bribe the foals... "Hmm," she said aloud. "I don't know what I would bribe them with! After all, there's at least one bitterbean tree in there, and all sorts of fruit trees. The windfalls are quite excellent." Mindful of her manners, she asked "Is either of you hungry? I'm sure there's something quite close."
((Bitterbean- her word for coffee. The foals eat the raw coffee beans for the buzz.))
