That video is the 2007 Marine Corps Birthday Message, delivered by the Commandant of the Marine Corps, General Conway. I wished to share this with you all because of how much it means not only to me, but to Marines across the world. For those of you that don't know, the Marine accompanying General Conway is Sergeant Major Kent, the Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps.
Remember the Marines who have fought and died for your safety. Every one of them, and all of those over there fighting the current war in Iraq.
Today, Marines across the world will be celebrating, even in Iraq, even stuck only on MREs, Marines will share at least a Pound Cake to remember those who have come and gone before us. To remember our traditions. To remember our purpose for joining the Corps. To remember who we are, what we represent. To remember our Corps' history.
I encourage all of you who read this to talk to a Marine, especially a family member or friend of the family, and to be sure you tell any Marines you know Happy Birthday.
232 years, fighting hard, loud, and proud since November 10, 1775.
Devildogs,
Leathernecks,
Marines.
SEMPER FIDELIS, ALL OF YOU. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MARINE CORPS.
