User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. The self-proclaimed prince was scowling. Now, this is not unusual, for he often scowled. What was unusual was what he was scowling at: the sunset. Normally, Gyzii felt that the melding of the colors and the falling of the sun was a sign of oppression and planning for the sun would rise again the next day. It would be brighter than before or it would be shrouded in clouds. It was an everlasting war with the sky that would continue until time itself fell apart. Here, however, in this world of sugar and sweets, he felt out of place.

This too, was unusual, for he was always claiming himself to be the most amazing of all the creatures here under this candy button blue sky. Today, it seemed less and less sweet and less and less satisfactory. As the giant fiery yellow object dropped from the sky, plunging the world into twilight, Gyzii turned to gaze upon the jello hills. Strange. Strange. Strange, he thought to himself.

I am more princely than any other. There is no other faster than I and there is no other as noble as I. Yet, I am not satisfied. There has been no one to talk to and no one to order. What is a prince to do if there are no subjects to order? He is nothing! This cannot be!

And so, internal conflict raged within the coffee as he debated his fate. He was both outrageously disgusted and in awe of his thoughts and decisions.

I must find a remedy.

With these thoughts running through his devilish head, he set off at a reasonable pace in any direction without really noticing what was in front of him. Recipe for disaster... number one.

User ImageSilverglow had just woke up. She was a creature of the night, a child of the stars. This my little numa's fur was all blue, and the white stars that adorned her fur sparkled in the moonlight. She loved that feature about herself. She considered it one of her best ones. Her other best feature, she thought it was her wings. Her feathery teal wings at full wingspan would unfold for several feet. They allowed her to soar high up into the sky, almost into the clouds.

The clouds were her playground. The sky was her pool. It was a place she felt completely at home. As she did everyday, she left her cozy little cottage as her night had just begun. She had only just began to fly. Normally she flew to the jello mountains first. Yet, something caught her eye. The moonlight reflected off of what was almost hyroglyphic markings. They were illuminated in the setting sun; well, what was left of it anyways.

She decided to be a pleasant and outgoing little lady. She landed a few feet from him. "Good evening, good sir! It is a pleasant autumn night, is it not? Have you come to admire the glistening night sky with all its twinkling stars?"

In a moment, he was wrenched from his mind and brought back to the forces of reality. His conflict would have to wait while he dealt with the current matter. Nearly not stopping until it was almost too late, he stumbled back a little, never falling over. No. To fall would be certainly an embarrassment he would never recover from. It took him another moment to analyze what he was seeing, for his eyes were adjusting to the ever changing light that shone and reflected off nearly every object around him, and then finally he saw it. Another Numa, but not a Coffee like himself... no. This one had wings and he felt a pang of anger. He, the greatest of them all, was stuck with these useless things while the one in front of him had gorgeous ones to carry her to the horizon and beyond.

His face however, was blank. It showed none of his inner turmoil nor his jealousy, if it could be called that. Instead, it became soft and kind albeit irritable. "Yes, I suppose." How else could he answer her? He wasn't in the mood for proper conversations but her polite and straightforward attitude demanded nothing but his full attention and manners. It was always his way if found the other to be an acceptable person for conversation. So far, this one had done nothing to annoy him save for something she could not help: her wings.

Oddly enough, his internal problems made him feel ever so much more nicer than he would've been otherwise. He felt that nobody gave him the true respect he deserved and yet, what else could he do? What else? So, it was with an unsaid sigh that he resigned himself to being tolerant of the polite for once. It couldn't hurt, could it?

Silverglow sat down in as much a ladylike manner as she could find. She looked him over. She had only met a few coffees by then. She was noticing how they all had something unique about themselves. She was starting to see that while some wanted to label the coffees together as one group. They all had their ups and downs. Certainly not fair to ostracize them just because they were born coffees. You couldn't help how you were born, right?

She looked up at him. "You suppose? But, Sir... With all due respect, the stars won't mind if you don't want to watch them. Their beauty is everlasting. They will shine on whether anyone watches or not. If their coming is a burden or an inconvenience for you today, don't feel you have to give them your time."

Then, she noticed that he was quite well far from the coffee swamp. That must have been why it was she didn't realize his demeanor. Did candyland make everyone in a better mood? Maybe... "My name is Silverglow. It's nice to meet your acquaintance." She gave him a curtsey, smiling and being ever so gentle.

Polite, polite. He really wasn't in the mood for starting anything or wasting energy to boast. Today he simply knew who he was and only in the most shallow sense, so to do any loud conceited actions would surely be above him. Instead, in the most regal manner he could muster up, he straightened himself visibly and gave the other a small smile. It was small and rather omniscient seeming. A part of himself was asking his mind if this girl was stupid or something, for she talked as if the stars had a mind of their own. They were pretty, yes, but did they honestly care? Not in the slightest! So Gyzii believed anyway... especially because if they did care then they would be more powerful than him and that... that was simply not allowed to happen.

"Gyzii," he returned calmly. "They're stars. Does it really matter?"

Silver traced some of the stars on her thigh with a tip of one of her nails on her paw. "It is nice to meet you sir. As for stars, I love stars. If you can't tell by my pelt, they have marked me with their blessings. I am adorned in stars. I have always believed that they hold a life force of their own. I tend to believe some are powered more by the sun, and some are powered by the moon or stars. Then again... some could just be powered by coffee..." She nodded and sat down.

Silverglow decided to take a lady like seat near his feet. It was a humble gesture, and it was not at all invasive. If he wanted to sit with her, he could. If he preferred to just stand up like that, he could do that too. She folded her wings behind her back. That way they'd draw less attention as she had caught his looks at them. She was never to hold something out in front that made anyone uncomfortable.

"If it is ok to ask Mr. Gyzii... What does really matter? To you? If it's ok to ask? Not that I deserve an answer. I understand I'm not anyone to you that you should have to feel like it deserves an answer." She brushed the blue and white hair out of her eyes.

Things like that tended to irritate the little Coffee very much. People who were so very cautious and polite that they would ask a question and then act as if they were not worthy of the answer. Pawing at the fur on his head, he twitched a bit aggravated, but still too annoyed with himself to be thoroughly annoyed with someone else. The stars were indeed ...nice... sometimes. But still. Merely stars.

"Respect for the right people," he said in a high and mighty voice. He looked very noble at that moment, more noble than he had been able to muster up before. If nothing else he was concerned with his position in society.

Silverglow nodded her head. She looked up at him and felt this sense of admiration and pink on her face. He did seem rather like a statue.. or something you'd see in a museum. Her eyes twinkled at she watched him.

"I'm sure you are right, sir. I wonder how it's possible to know who all are the right people then. I'm sure you must be one of them. You're so knowledgeable about these things." She nodded with a smile. She then started to feel just a tad infatuated with the idea someone so important was taking time to talk to her.

She stayed firmly planted on the ground at his feet, wrapping her wings to the edges of her shoulders. Was she a right person she wondered?

For a moment, he was compelled to silence. Looking skyward as he had been, he now glanced back to her and knew she was smart. It was obvious she realized his importance, and felt such respect. Finally, someone who saw it! It felt almost a relief, and so he loosened himself up a little bit and gave her a toothy smile, "You're quite right. I'm one of the right people, and with an attitude like that..." Could he really do it? Praise someone else? "...You could be too."

Yes. Worlds would soon fall and crash, but he did it. He praised someone other than himself! Amazingly enough, he was also touched by her kindness. Though annoying at first, when he realized her respect, he felt important. Gyzii had spent his whole life being arrogantly noble, never being truly recognized for what he saw as being great. And now... someone else saw it too. It made his very mind soar with an admiration for his first 'follower', though he would never admit it.

Silverglow's eyes widdened, and she smiled meekly. How was it... she was sitting there wondering.. and then he said it. "Oh... are you also gifted beyond just being smart? It's like you read my very thoughts. I was just wondering if I could be one of those people. I just have never had a standard against which to measure myself."

She still remained in her humbled position. Her eyes moved down and tried not to make overly much eye contact. She remembered that some people who esteem themselves highly considered it disrespectful to look them directly in the eye. But, to keep your eyes lower was a sign of humility and respect. Or, was that only for rulers? Well... she figured it couldn't hurt.

"I am sure you would be able to recognize if I could be one of those smart persons. I would guess that smarter persons can easily discern another from among more ignorant peers." She smiled to herself.
