(If you're a member who posted your intro in the old guild, please copy-paste it here. Order doesn't matter.) I don't anticipate needing many rules, so we'll get through the unpleasent stuff pretty quickly. Rules n' Stuff 1. Don't intentionally harass, instigate, or sabotage. Thanks. 2. Please don't bother donating to the guild fund, unless it's below 5k. 3. Follow the ToS. If you haven't read it recently, there have been some updates, namely on what we are and are not allowed to discuss. The management of this guild has no problem if you want to discuss the rules, or make available offsite locations to conduct debates (disallowed or otherwise), but understand that while we're using Gaia, we'll be following Gaia's rules. 4. Debates are now permitted, in the appropriate forum. However, keep in mind that we were conceived as a resource guild- we'd still like contributions to that effect. 5. Check out the Table of Contents sticky in each forum- it'll show you what we we have, what we need people to write, and what's coming soon. You can volunteer to write a thread on a needed topic, or suggest topics not listed. 6. Type out your words. We're fairly lenient on grammar and spelling, but if you're not willing to put two extra letters into the word 'you', you'd probably be happier somewhere else. And that about covers it, I think. So, anyway, why are we here? Is it an attempt to impress our values on other people? Is it to gossip about the politics of the Extended Discussion? Is it to cut-and-paste preformulated responses to common debates? Nope. This guild is pretty much a small encyclopedia of things it pays to know in the ED, all provided by users. You can use the guild as a place to ask questions, provide resources, or as an occasional reference guide- we're all after the same thing here; encouraging engaging and informative debate in the Extended Discussion. So now that that's out of the way, introduce yourselves- a few sentences or a paragraph will do, with whatever information you feel like disclosing in it.

I'm Wishbone, call me Wish, or something. I particularly enjoy debate on human sexuality, social justice, and environmental solutions- my wider interests lie in psychology, anthropology, literature, baking, camping, and LARPing. Right now, I'm working on a book by the Dalai Lama (who is brilliant), and just finished up Beloved, by Toni Morrison. I would recommend The Bluest Eye, out of any of her works- it's more accessible, with a stronger focus. I have trouble with Iris Murdoch, I can't handle math, and I don't eat breakfast on weekdays.
I'm actually female, but it's not usually relevent one way or the other. I'm also fairly young, but that's not of much consequence, either. I'm scared of driving, I don't have many friends (though I'm not really disliked), I enjoy lecture notes (no, really), and I really wish I was less lazy, so that I could learn another language. Spanish would be great, though I've only ever taken French and Latin.
Your turn!

'Allo, Bunnymochi here.
I've been on Gaia for a few months, and definitely enjoy lurking around the ED during my free time at work. I'm more of a watcher than a contributor, but when I do chime in, I can be quite tenacious. I plan on going to law school one day (LSAT studying is a b***h), and I hope to gain better debate skills by being a part of this community.
Topics that you'll probably see me in the most are ones regarding women's rights/women's issues, racism, or gay rights. I'm very socially liberal.
My favorite things right now are cuteoverload.com and the tv show Dexter. :3

I'm Midare. I like: pie, manga, reading and occasionally contributing to debates. I almost never get a response though, I've been told it's because no one wants to deal with my long rambling posts. Oh well, thus I usually lurk and peek in here and there. Also, I'm horrible at spelling.
I have recently opened a Taoist Guild on Gaia (plug plug plug) that has some crew members manning it mostly. I try to go in once a week to update the link lists and such. I'm a bad bad mod, real life gets in the way a lot. Have I mentioned I like pie?

Hello! :- ) I'm portrait-story, formerly hairclip-chan. No idea what you would call me, though. 'Hey, you' works fine. This guild is cool! (By the way, no idea how people knew me enough to invite me to this guild, I haven't posted on the ED [or gaia at all] much lately. But I'm flattered!) I'm kind of a lurker. I enjoy stuff. Ironically, I'm not very good at debate, but I try to see all sides of an issue. So that's me!
I'm pleased to be in this guild! Woot woot heart

Apparently I joined Gaia Online in early 2004. Oh dear. That means I've been around here just far, far too long doesn't it? Back in that ancient history, I used to cruise ED and its subforums fairly regularly, but for most of my time here I've become a guildie rather than a regular forum-goer. I still try to pop in every so often to provide something interesting. If I open up just one mind to a new way of seeing something I've accomplished something positive.
There's much more that could be said, but I get tired of these introductions, ya know? I'm in too many blasted Guilds... icon_xd.gif

I joined Gaia a number of years ago. I've posted some interesting topics in the ED and I've posted some not so great topics as well. I enjoy a good discussion and this guild seems like it will have the things needed to proper arm oneself for any debate.

I'm evenstar-of-music, or Lauren smile I love reading, writing, music, anime, etc. I'm obsessed with Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter. I was rather disapointed with the 7th Hary Potter book though.... But anyways, I love posting in the ED because I have a lot of rather strong opinions. I don't mind if you have different opinions than me, but I will probably still believe what I want, however interested in others opinions. I'm definately open minded, so message me if you ever want to talk heart

I'm Maha [...the alleged wizard]. I enjoy debate on social policy, religion, history, culture, and linguistics. Other interests include psychology, anthropology, contemporary culture, and literature.
I am currently a teacher of Middle Eastern Culture and History, as well as an occasional speaker on counterinsurgency and terrorism. I read just about every book on the subject and am always open to new suggested reading materials (though I am quick to set aside biased materials if it has no informative value).
I enjoy working in other cultures and locations, and I speak English, Arabic [MSA, Egyptian, Iraqi], (some) Spanish, (some) German, and can curse in maybe a dozen languages.
I feel a desperate need for some threads dealing with history in the ED, so once my internet situation has improved (around the end of November) prepare for your precious ED to get swamped by wave after wave of historical analysis and clarifications.

I'm Earth Terminal Destiny, a 2004er. As ling as I've been on Gaia, I've always used the ED and posted there. It is my true home forum, no matter if post more in others. I like learning theology and politics as my mains, but I enjoy anthro/sociology as well.
I'm in my final year of high school, but I feel as if the ED had helped me by pointing me in the right direction for resources. XD Lord knows how my teacher when she reads that essay.

I'm Sorin Strike (previously called Sorin The Fox), or Sorin for short. I can be quiet and calm, or random and hyper. I usually don't have trouble speaking my mind, and I like to be sarcastic at times. When I'm not playing video games, I'm usually writing a story or posting in the ED. When it comes to reading, I tend to like stuff about animals, for some reason (e.g. The Warrior Cat series).
As for the ED, I usually just read different people's opinions in the thread and post once or twice. I'll read/debate on just about any kind of thread, as long as it's interesting.

My username is Intriguing. I joined gaia back in 2004, but then left and came back a while ago. I used to be in the ED a little back in 2004, but not really enough to brag about. My topics of interest include religion, economics, political theory, and history. While social issues intrigue me to say the least, I hate debating social issues for several reasons, most of which I have taken the liberty of listing below. 1. Most social issues are based on morality, and mostly comes down to personal opinion. How can you debate personal opinions? 2. Most social issue discussion is fueled by emotional/ulterior motives alone. 3. Most social issue debaters possess a great deal of opinion with few objective material to back their claims up. 4. Most social issue topics are overly repeated. As for myself, I am an INTP (Myers-Brigg temperament indicator), and I'm a college student. My hobbies include html and css coding, photo-editing software, reading, writing, drawing, and thinking...and that's all that I can think of at the moment. Contact me if you have any specific questions...or something like that.
