It was a quiet night and things were starting to get colder. Every so often she could see her breath forming a cloud in the air before her. Every so often she would puff it out purposefully just to watch it do so. There was magic in such a little motion. It brought a smile to her face and took away the thoughts that were on her mind, if only for a moment.
She huffed softly, giving her head a light toss as she moved back towards the forest. It was getting late and it was time for her to find a place to rest for the night... Or, since she wasn't tired just yet, it was time to wander back towards the small place that she had called home for such a long time to check up on things.

It had gotten exceedingly colder, even in his little closed section of the forest. Normally, he stayed in the forest for warmth. Today he felt like going out, because the forest had been just as cold.
Huffing a bit, and watching how sometimes his breath shown on the wind, he began walking. He was at a slow pace, merely thinking things over in his deep rooted mind. He wondered how his children were fairing. He had heard Naina had been having issues with her beau, and instinctively he had wanted to gut the brute for doing such things to her. But how about Trevelyn. How was his strapping son doing? Even if his other foals thought of him not fatherly.. He still was their sire, and logically, their father. But what of his other little girl? The older of the three, indeed, but what had become of her? He hadnt had the chance to meet her as he had Trev.
He had been having such horrible thoughts lately, that he was so unsure whether to attempt at foals with his new mate or not. He had been such a terrible father before.

She paused just outside the forest, turning her head to look up at the sky. A soft smile curved the corners of her mouth upwards. Somewhere out there her mother was looking at the same sky... She knew it... Just like she knew that Trevelyn was and Naina was. Even if it wasn't at this exact moment they would look up at the sky sometime during the night as she herself had and maybe, just maybe, they'd think of her too.
That out of the way she turned back towards the forest, pausing as she heard movement. She held still, eyes closed and ears flickering. She wasn't sure what was causing the sound but she had learned to be cautious... Now, if only her wings weren't a beacon in the night she might have been able to hide herself better.

Jean saw the mare before she saw him, and he smiled. Ah, he had scared some poor soul. He felt dreadfully sorry to have done it, but hte m are looked so cute with her eyes are squeezed closed and her ears all moving.
"Ah, ma cherie, do not fear me, Im not something to fear."
He said, not moving closer to her, but giving her personal space, and still being close. The darkness was hiding her from his view a little. Only her wings gave away certain features as the light reflected from them.
"Marvelous wings you have."

Her brow furrowed slightly at the sound of a strange voice and even stranger words. The words told her not to fear the one speaking them...
Opening her eyes she tilted her head towards the sound, violet eyes soon finding its source. She stepped back into the light, more out of instinct than for any other reason. She had no reason yet to fear this voice in the darkness... Or the stallion it came from. "I... I know you."

Jean looked at the face as it came to the light. It was the face of nostalgia with the color of himself.
When she spoke her words, and had told him she knew him, his own voice was speaking in his mind. He knew her as well. The mare who looked like Nostalgia, but almost could double as Naina, inverted.
"Ah, but I know you too."
He said, his voice soft as he noticed that the mare in front of him was indeed the daughter he'd only ever met once as a filly. He smiled, his fangs only slightly showing.
"You must be Memory."

Her eyes met those of the stallion and, for a moment, she felt as if she were looking at her brother. She blinked to break the gaze, trying to get her mind to settle itself. "You're..." He looked so much like Trevelyn... No, that wasn't right. Trevelyn looked so much like him. Of course, from what she remembered, that was where the similarities ceased. "You're... Jean-Claude. M-mother spoke of you... N-naina did too."

Jean smiled. Ah, so Nos had spoken to someone of him, as he had spoken to Naina about Nostalgia. His heart fluttered at the sight of the gorgeous mare he had never got to see grow up. Naina had been amazing, but nothing could beat watching and knowing each of them.
"Nostalgia and Naina. Two of my favorite mares. How do you and your family fair?"
He truly was hoping they were doing well. Last thing he needed was to be brought around with more bad times.

"I... We..." She had been told, when younger, not to speak with strangers. It was something that she had listened to as a foal because her mother had been the one who had given her that instruction... But this stallion, he wasn't really a stranger. And she? She wasn't a foal any more.
She straightened herself out, holding her head high as she gathered her wits. "We are doing well. I am doing well." As well as they could be, of course. She was looking forward to winter and hoping that it would bring her mother back. She had always spoken fondly of the cold season. "And... You?"

Jean smiled again, looking at her, and wanting so badly to just give her a good nuzzle. But he knew that might be awkward for her, seeing as she seemed to be the quiet one. Whereas Naina had gotten a set of vocals, and could be as loud as she pleased.
"Im so happy to hear that. You know.. I may not know you, nor you, I.. But.. I missed you Memory."
He flicked his ebony curled tail nervously. He had waited to see his other baby girl for so long, and she had just wandered right to him.

She couldn't say that she had missed him as well. Her life had been filled well with other things and she hadn't known that she should be missing someone. People came and went... And sometimes, every so often, they remained long enough to make a lasting opinion.
"Did you? Why? I... Never really went anywhere. I've always been in the same place, under the same sky. All you'd have to do is look up at the stars and I'd be there somewhere."

Aw, So Nostalgia did rub off on the mare. She spoke teh words Nos had said things similar to. Smiling he nodded.
"I missed you, because Im your father, and it's felt like a piece of my heart was missing."
He said, looking her in the eyes. He was pushing it, he was sure, but he didnt want Memory to think he thought any less of her than Naina.

"Pieces of hearts never go missing. They're always there, even if you can't find them." She'd been told that as well... That as long as she had her memories, ironically, the things that meant the most to her would always be there. "Were you happy with Naina? Are you happy now?"

He smiled at her answer, and couldnt help but smile again at her questions.
"I was very happy with Naina, though I truly wished I had been able to watch all of you grow. "
Was he happy now? Odd question.. But he figured he owed it to her to answer anything she may ask.
"Very. Ive found a new mate, and may even try to have foals in the near future." He said, sharing the news that she'd eventually have siblings.

"See... It all works out in the end." She smiled as she looked to the stallion. From what she had been told her mother had not been happy with him and he had not been happy with her mother... It had all worked out for the better.
"Try?" She wasn't aware that that was something that one tried for... Foals, that was. She didn't believe that either Draven or Kochu had 'tried' for the three that they had... They had just... Happened. "I think that children come when those wanting them are ready for them... Or when they are supposed to come."
