Need some technical help! Miswiring maybe?

Alright I was scanning a yard sale a few days ago, and I found this really cheap Fender Telecaster imitation by Yamaha. Now this guitar has the greatest action I've ever had the opportunity to play. So naturally I bought it, brought it home only to be dissapointed by a hum that only comes through on the lead channel (which is necessary for metal!). While it would help to see a clearer picture, it looks like that bit of wire runs to your trem cavity (if you have one, if you don't them I'm beat). Sometimes guitars are wired to the trem cavity for one purpose: To attach to something metal and call it ground. Find out if this is the case here...

Also, what pickups are in it/are you putting in it? Dimarzio's for instance always leave two wires hanging loose just because of their four-conductor setup.

well I was gonna put some Duncans in it, but my lack of cash is gonna make me leave the originals in. But I have no idea what a trem cavity is... ;?
