Mwana had seemed tired the last few days, sleeping more then usual, even for her, almost to the point of seeming ill. But she had no fever, no watery eyes, just a new affiliation with silence. Not complete silence, mind, but she certainly wasn't saying more then she had to of late. The truth was, their last "tiff" still had her feeling rather grumpy and protective. His see-saw of resolves had made her nervous and distant...especially since she had had little actual news from him of this "pride" he had spoken of. What if it had fallen through? What if he had been mistaken? They were not thoughts she liked to comtemplate.
Despite her moody attitude, she had refrained from sleeping in the trees. She didn't want to completely alienate herself. She wasn't quite that stupid. So instead she rested under a shadey tree, awake, but propping her head against her paws.

The chuckling duo could be heard from down the hill. Though at first glance, one would believe the larger lion was speaking to himself. At a closer glance, one could notice a small critter hanging about his paws, talking back to him. It had been so long since the two were together; he could recall the Meerkat when he was a cub, the day he was able to go out and walk, he was around. The Meerkat could remember more about the lion than anyone alive, even more than the Mistweaver that helped him escaped. The two had spent a good while catching up with one another before he noticed that Mwana was awake. Trigger's green eyes fell upon the tree they had rested at noticing her form beneath the tree. With a slight sigh, he pressed on with only a whisper to the meerkat who left shortly after.
"Morning, Mwana, are you waiting for something to happen?" he questioned, laying down beside her. Trying to be kind and friendly was harder than it seemed, it felt rather awkward for one who pushed those around him away.... "You haven't said much of anything lately..."

Mwana did not notice the meerkat; or at least did not get a proper chance to do so, since Trigger ushered him away. It was probably for the best, at the moment. In her present mood she likley would not have been kind to the small creature...or at least not honest. She turned her head slightly, looking out from long bangs to peer at him with silver eyes. It was a gaze that was hard to read, which was usual. Mwana normally, at least compared to her sisters, wore her emotions openly. She was strangely inverted right now. "No...I'm just resting," she replied simply, her tone rather passive, "I've not been feeling well of late." It was the same thing she had been telling him the last few days.

Trigger nosed her softly, trying his best to comfort her; being a new area for him. He had never had to treat a female like this, never before had he actually had to stick around a female for such a long time. Being rather bold, he promised himself that there was no boundry of what he would do to try to win her over some. He licked her ear as if a mother would a cub to comfort them.
"Mwana... If you are not feeling well, I could go out hunting again, if you don't feel like talking then just listen" he said between the licks. "But there is something I have been meaning to tell you."
"One of the lions, Ahali, had came to find me the other day. He told me where the group was going to meet. So I could take you there if you want... but that is if you want to. You do remember me telling you about it, right?"

Mwana let him groom her without complaint. She might be moody, but she always enjoyed the attention. And she didn't even have to ask. Well, that certainly was much better then usual! Not that she would say so; she was more used to pointing out what needed to be done rather then what was already being done well. "No, I'm not hungry, thank you," she murmured diplomatically. After that she flicked her ears back slightly to show she was listening attentively...of which she was, actually. Finally some news. "Yes...I remember."

"I told him that I would go if I was granted a high rank..." a few more licks. "He said it was very possible... I told him that I would bring you, if you don't want to go, you don't have to. I am fine right here, we can find some other place for you."
He paused and nudged her. He was curious how she would really take that. He had a feeling that she would love the idea of him being in a Pride of such a high rank. He didn't know what or if he was even going to get the position, but he felt confident that he would. After all, Trigger could just beat it out of Ahali if he wanted to... only if it were a necesity. What concerned him more was if Mwana would come with him; the travel was far and it would mean more time walking than resting if they were to get there in good time.
Trigger nuzzled her again. "What is ailing you? You have been out of it for a few days now... Are you absolutely sure you are not hungry? Tired?"

Mwana eyed him very carefully from the corner of her eye as he gave her information. What she was looking for, ultmately, were lies and uncertainties. But he seemed to have none; it was not like a few days ago, where she had been forced to beg and argue, in her own way, to get him to even consider leadership. And he was not making claims to dump her off alone. He said he was going to "take her with him" which was, at this point, exactly what she had wanted to hear...and exactly what she hadn't expected to.
Inwardly she relaxed, though not entirely. This didn't mean she was going to make the same mistake as last time, becoming open for another emotional dump or stab. But her little icey shun, though subtle, was likely to discontinue. "No, I will come along," she murmured, oddly making it sound humble when her intetions were quite the opposite. The wonders wording could do! "And...I've just been tired...perhaps I've had a small bug," she turned her head slightly, and decided she could maybe take a step forward, "But...I think I'm a little better today."

"So you will come with me to the Ethiopian Lands?" he questioned, a little curious if she was sure that she wanted to come. He had not seemed to get much out of her, in fact, he was hopping that she would talk to him. He sighed and nuzzled her softly, trying his best to feel comforting, soft, and kind. "If you are coming, we may have to leave soon. They could find someone else and I would rather get there first to... claim our positions."
He could only let himelf purr, still rough and deep, as he pressed against her. She was feeling better today so that was a great change! It brought a smile to the larger male's face. "Well, I hope you get better soon Mwana."
The little meerkat waddled over the hill and directly toward the two, his arms wrapped around a large leaf pouch of water. Trigger had directed him to fetch some as a prank to wet the girl at first but when he noticed the girl was awake, it was more for her to drink. So he assumed. Fuku had never quite met the female that his old friend traveled with but he seemed quite fond of her at times, others... not so much.
He held up the pouch, "Here ya go, Moto, it's the water you wanted."

Mwana nodded. She knew she was in no position to suggest she had doubts; she didn't. However, could not jump up and go either...what would that say about how she had been acting the last few days? No, she had a little bit more tact then that. She wasn't as crafty or controled as her sisters, but she definately knew a thing or two. "I'll come, I said I would, remember?" she assured him, and then adding since she knew he'd like to hear it, "I want to."
She pulled herself to sit up slightly, as if to prove her claim of feeling better. "I think...I'll be able to go tomorrow," she suggested. Not too soon...and hopefully not too long to jeapordize their positions.

"I am glad, besides, I wouldn't want to be alone during that long walk anyhow," he purred and nuzzled her. She seemed a little more accepting. At first, he was sure that she was going to burst out with questions about where this pride was. How far it was going to be. Who was there, it was hard to tell how she was acting anymore.
"Well, I wouldn't force you to go for such a journey if you are ill, Mwana. I'm nothing like your sisters. I won't force you to do something unless you wanted to," he ears perked at the little voice beside him. With a smile, he plucked the leaf pouch of water from the meerkat and held it to her. "Thirsty?"
Fuku glowered at Trigger's talk about being lonely. What was he? Chopped Zebra!? The little creature scrurried up the lion's side and hung over his shoulder, glaring at the larger mammal.
"Hey! What do you think you are doing, Moto'Vianzio!? I have known you since you were a cub and here you are ignoring me because you like this... this... girl!?" He huffed and crossed his arms, sitting on his "bicept", scowling.

"I want to," she murmured again, as if perhaps he hadn't heard her the first time. Did she have to say it five thounsand times? No need to make things more complicated then they already where. "Besides...I said I was feeling better...I can't go today but...I think I can tomorrow," she nodded, trying to keep it simple. Knowing her charms, especially when he was being polite, she dawned a small but pretty smile, "Thank you."
Fuku quite messed up what was supposed to be a "moment". She felt a vein in her temple twitch in irritation. And she voiced, as politely as possible, "What's wrong with liking me?" She watched him from under dark lashes, so that neither male could see her eyes were slightly narrowed in suspicion.

"Well, he never did like the company of others than myself," he shrugged as he turned his attention to the female. He had not met her and having her steal his bestest best friend from him... well, it was not going to go without having her know about his displeasure. "He probably is just likin' ya because he's getting back at me for something."
Trigger growled as he dropped teh pouch into his other hand and put it down. With a snarl he took the meerkat in his paw and placed him against the ground.
"Don't talk to her like that, Fuku! A last has changed since we departed from the Firekin border, don't think like you know me," he glanced back at Mwana. "Sorry, he's a bit jealous." That one second he took his eyes off his little friend, he took the chance and bite hard on the lion's paw causing him to roar in pain and throwing him up into the tree as a reaction. Fuku scurried and remained in the tree and sneered down at him, disappearing off again. Trigger sucked on his bite for a second, glaring up at the tree before turning his attention back to her.
"Sorry..."
Just like his nature, the meerkat popped out from the lion's side, scowling at the girl mostly.
"Fine! Be that way, forget about me and run off to that stupid pride. I am sure Afu would LOOOVE to have a big, strong male like you around. Then she can have both you and Ahali all to herself!" Trigger snarled again, swiping at him but too slow as the quick meerkat scurried off somewhere again leaving a growlng lion.

Mwana didn't care much for their bickering. What kind of terms the two were on mattered little to her; though being the subject of a squabble was quite interesting. She was quite insulted that Fuku deemed her nothing more then a tool, but Trigger's protective rebuttles made up for it and caused her to have to hide a smile. She quite liked the attention, to say the least.
This easy going, cheerful attitude, if only known to her, vanished right at the sound of a familiar name. She paused, a frown immediately sliding across her mouth and her eyes narrowing visably with no intent of hiding her unhappiness. "Did you say...Afu?" she asked, not sugar coating the question. If it was who she thought it was....!

"Yeah..." he muttered before suckling on his paw where the meerkat had bitten him. The damn thing had broken skin and drawn blood. He looked at her and saw nothing the first time. It was when his glance linger did he noticed that her expression was... different. She seemed displeased; was it because they were fighting? Was it because of something else? He dropped his paw and tilted his head a little.
"Yeah... she's Ahali's female companion. Why, do you know her?" He questioned. For some reason, he figured it was possible. After all, he met her a while back where she was already an adult and kicked out of her pride. He nosed her with a slight purr. "Is something the matter, Mwana?" his voice was as deep and rough as ever but now it hinted of slight concern.

So it hadn't been a mistake! Mwana felt her fury fume beneath the surface. She and her sisters had never liked Afu too much...and the feelings had been mutial. After Afu had left, she had hoped to never see her again, really. " And what," Mwana asked, her voice stiff and rigid as she held in her anger, "is the rank that Ahali carries?" This could be an either good or horrible situation. And the twisting in her gut told her it was the later. All she needed to hear from Trigger was those sweet words that he was a commoner, or something along those lines, and she'd be peachy! But she doubted that's what he was going to tell her.
