Guess what’s back? The Weekly Paragraph Competition, that’s what! Yup, I got my mojo back! Go check out our newsletter.

Prize: 1000 gold for first place, 500 for second place.

Deadline: Saturday 17th November,
5:00 PM London time Due to the nature of my life I may be late but I promise not to close it early. This is a good website for finding London time: http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/

The Rules (dun-dun-duuuuuuuuuun!!!):

I give you a sentence, you write the rest of the paragraph. Just the paragraph, not the rest of the story, please. The paragraph must be 60-150 words long, not including the provided sentence. Writing must be original fiction (ie, not fanfiction), any genre is permitted. No graphic sex, swearing is permitted but must be partially blanked (eg. sh*t). Homosexuality is permitted. No text talk, please. You can post comments on entries here as well, but no flaming or spamming.

Conversation is permitted as long as the new line opens with speech marks. Eg, new line: ““Blah blah”, he said, sitting.” Would be permitted, but new line: “He sat. “Blah blah”, he said” Would not.

The first sentence must be:

The clouds sailed lazily across the sky.

You may add on to the end of the sentence, or leave it, but you’re not allowed to change the words.

Only one entry per user.

Here's what you have to do to enter:

PM me your entry, and post a copy of it here. There is no entry fee, but donations are much obliged. On that subject, PM me if you need a donation to your competition, the treasury has swollen beyond recognition.

Good luck to you all!

I'm trying to get more publicity for this so if you know anyone else who might like to enter then please tell them! Thankee!

Perhaps; I'm busy a lot with school and work now, I'll let this take off before I start the other one up again. I intend to restart it, though.

I would like to know if the title counts in the word count. Oh well, here it is...

Home

The clouds sailed lazily across the sky. There weren’t words that could describe a day like this. Something made me remember that my boyfriend lay at my side. His face nearly drenched in the honey-like sun that reached down to us there in the grass. The grass that made you feels like you were in a dream. The same grass that smelled so fresh after a nice day of rainy solitude. But the one thing that made it so special was the sky. The giant gap of blue and white that made my day feel even more special than it really was. A gust of warm wind blew my onto my face as I turned to my side to face Ryan. He faced me also and we looked into each other’s eyes. Without a word we leaned in for a kiss. Love is even more precious than the sky.

Of Clouds and Musings

The clouds sailed lazily across the sky. And at this, I can not help but offer a smile. My only desire is to have this sort of lucid peace. No ulterior motives, no harmful secrets. I wish my ways could be as lethargic in all aspects, just as those carefree clouds are. To be so much like them that simply glancing my way, one could tell whether today my ways would be dreamy and sweeping, or harsh and rolling. Of course they may surprise people at times, but look close enough, and the truth resides quite bluntly. Though on second though, maybe I am as fluid in sailing, as peaceful, as open. Maybe one has yet to look close enough, yet to look to the heart on my sleeve, and see the truth that resides in me.

The clouds sailed lazily across the sky. Birds swooped around in the vast blue openness. This was a good day. Avarice picked a small blade of grass apart in her hand, laying on her back, enjoying the life she had longed to obtain. The life of an average girl, no longer plagued by the uncertainty that she has come to expect as a muse. Finally she could live in one place and go to school like an ordinary sixteen year old girl. She pondered what life will be like; getting a cell phone, making friends, sleeping a full eight hours at night. These thoughts were disrupted as she noticed the startled birds fly to the safety of the trees. A faint red light had appeared in the sky. She got up from the grass and brushed off her skirt. Her normal life would have to wait until tomorrow.

The clouds sailed lazily across the sky. I look to the sky to see if the clouds could tell me a story. You know what they did. One day there was this princess in a cloud castle, and she was known as the Ice princess. She was very kind and always cared for others. One day someone evil came and kidnapped her. How you say I don’t truly know. All I know is that he came and took her away. Where is she now you ask well that my dears is another story.

Never Again

The clouds sailed lazily across the sky, and Earth turned just like it would on a normal day. A slight wind blew the trees lightly as if they were underwater. Everything was beautiful, calm, and cool, but not for me. I could hear the yelling and screaming in the background, but I blocked it out. My soccer ball zoomed past my head, narrowly missing my nose. I immediately chased it, wondering what was distracting me so much. I couldn’t afford it during the warm-up. This was the big day. I turned around and faced my team. They all wore encouraging expressions, and I was back at home, instinct of twelve years’ training for this day kicking in. I silently wished he could have been here to see me.
