From beneath one of the berry bushes, a pair of curious ruby colored eyes watched fiery colored Sitara walking along the trail of the shoreline. Mirth and mischief filled their depths the closer she got. This the closest the owner of those ruby eyes had ever gotten to another one of his kind.

His whereabouts being discovered, the little kit pounced to his feet. Pushing out his fluffy burgundy chest and raising his little head high, he gave a little, "Rawrrrr!" This little display of bravado was received with a raised brow and a bigger smirk from the older Sitara.

Realizing he wasn't in danger, he stepped forward out of the bush. Curiously tilting his head, he eyed the older Sitara. This was the first time he'd ever gotten close enough to actually see another one in detail. He'd always wondered what the differences were between him and others of his species. Assuming they were the same kind, he was still puzzled about that. Studying her, he saw that besides the oblivious age, height, and of course gender, she didn't seem that much different than himself. She was rather colorful and flashy though, and her marking where very pretty. Compared to her, he felt rather drab.

After a long moment he said, "My name is Blood Berry. What are you called?"

Blood Berry smiled back. Someone to talk to at last! Maybe he would finally find out some answers to his origins. He sat down in front Mei yu, his pointed stripped ears perked forward happily.

"You and I are the same, Mei yu?" He asked in a rush.

Heart racing with excitement, Blood Berry climbed up on Mei-yu's back and sat down. He had never ventured very far from the tree were he had been born. To finally get to see more of the Island would be an adventure. He finally had a friend, too. His first one ever.

"Mei-yu, what is a home? I don't think I have one," he said, his nose wiggling as he sniffed the salty air.

Blood Berry leaped off Mei yu and land with a soft thumb on the river's bank. Looking into the sparkling water, he saw the masses of pink and gray fish swimming crazily toward unknown destinations. He wonder where they were all going in such a hurry. He glanced up at Mei yu as she too gazed into the river, he emerald eyes glittering hungrily.

"Do you remember your family," he asked before turning his attention back to the fish.

Ruby eyes widened as he watched Mei yu catch the huge fish with an quick swipe of her paw. She made it look so easy. He had only attempted to fish a couple of times, and both resulted in him going face first into the water. Nodding, he planted himself more firmly into the soft riverbank, and mimicked Mei yu's movements. He managed to at least hit one of the swarming fish, but it was too big for him to swipe out of the water. Well, he thought to himself drolly, at least I didn't end up swimming with the fishes again.

Looking back at Mie yu he said, "I'm sorry your memories aren't good ones. I just wish I had memories. I woke up all alone in a tree not far from the bush I was hiding in. I had no idea what I was, where I was, or anything. I was frightened for awhile, but then got used to it. I eventually saw some others who looked like me one day playing on the beaches. So every time I would see them I listened, watched and learned what I could. I was still very small, so I never approached. I wasn't sure how they would react to me."
