This is only probably a review for some and new news to others. I will put a couple segments together because I dont know how to use photobucket anyway. There is some steps pieces to this first segment of the tutorial.
1)the blade. when you draw a blade it depends what kind of sword your making. for instance a katana has a long curved blade while a short sword has a two sided short blade. when you draw an edge you should also watch for strait lines. try using rulers and drawing the edge of the blade.
2) the handle or hilt. When you draw a hilt it dosnt matter if it is a little curvy on one side, as long as you can tell its where your hand goes it'fine
3)the pommel. not all swords have one but for those that do you should make it ornate and pretty, or at least curvy. Personaly my preference is a little curvy. But its your drawing so you have that choice.
4)the crossgaurd or cross piece.this gets its name from the fact that they normally look like a cross when drawn correctly proportioned to the handle and blade. some swords dont have them but most do so it depends on what sword your drawing. I you are drawing a katana it would only be like a barrier between the handle and blade. I personally put an ornate crossgaurd on my swords but that is just my preference.
if there is anything i could have added or comments please leave a note here letting me know
