The mare trotted within the woods, laughing softly to herself. The peak of fall had transformed in to something a bit more lacklustre - the golds and reds had fully transformed to browns and greys. What had once been soft and friendly now turned stale and crunchy, their dried and curling forms a sort of music-maker beneath her hooves.
The war between autumn and winter had fast begun ravaging the world. Ah yes, if any had doubted the approach of winter than the leafless trees and blustering, frigid winds didn't allow for any such belief.
Picking her way through the naked underbrush, the long, white-maned female gave a soft snort in frustration. No matter how hard she tried, her long locks just wouldn't stay in place! She always harbored a frazzled look thanks to her locks objecting to the winds course nature. . . . They tangled one way only to be ripped apart and tossed haphazardly to the other side of her neck and over her face. Ugh - if only the gusts would diminish.
Breezes she could handle - a wind storm she could not.
Twigs and leaves drifted around her, the remains of the forest also victim to the wind. "I really d-d-don't know why you're so upset," she laughed, reaching over her shoulder to pick off a few stray leaves. "I hate to-to-to say it, but I th-th-think we like you a little b-b-bit more when you're n-not so rough!"
Ah yes, leave it to the imaginative mare to think of holding conversations with the wind. Though as far as Eponine was concerned, why shouldn't she talk to the winds? They probably appreciated conversation just as much as the next person. . . .
Right? Right.

"Talking to mother nature, are we?" Came a voice out of the darkness, until the vague form of another appeared within the shadows. Slowly, the figure emerged revealing a handsome stallion, of natural colors except for the ivory streaks of green that seemed to stand out upon the rich brown.
He had only been wandering through the forest, when the a voice drifted through the thick trees. Mildly intrigued, he had gone over to investigate.. But he only heard the last of the mare's words. Apparently, from the looks of it.. She had no other soquili or animal with her.. So one could assume that she was talking to something else that was not visible to anyone else but her. With a chuckle, he smiled warmly at the mare.
But something bothered him.. He didn't ever recall meeting such a mare before.. But her coloring, her hair.. and her light-hearted attitude seemed to be familiar to him. Racking his brain, he could not figure out, where she had come from. But he gave no indication by his expression, of the thoughts within his mind. It wasn't hard to mask one's expressions.

Eponine gave a startled snort as a voice appeared, whirling around to face this newcomer. She wasn't the sort who startled easily, nor was she shy of conversation, but she hadn't expected another to be within such close proximity. Aqua eyes danced in delight and good humor as the brown stallion pushed himself through the underbrush and greeted her with a chuckle.
Ducking her head in greeting, her wild and still somewhat tangled mane flopping haphazardly within her eyes. Snorting and giving a little shake, so she could properly assess this stranger, it took the mare a moment to recall why he looked so familiar. . . .
Had she bumped in to him before? "Just ch-ch-chattering with the wind, I'm afr-fr-fraid," she admitted with a chuckle, not at all embarrassed to have been caught talking all alone. As she had thought before - why shouldn't she discuss her woes with the Wind Spirits and their abilities? It was silly not to, especially if it meant that they might tone down their gusting mischief!
The tangles in her hair were going to be hell to get out. . . and she couldn't even begin to work on it until the gusts died completely.
She glanced back up at the brown stallion, gaze narrowing in deep contemplation. "Have we m-m-met before?" She finally asked. Oh, the young mare was certain they had but when. . . .and where. . . . . and how. . . . and - - - LIGHTBULB!
Though she had forgotten his name it hit her like a ton of bricks. He hadn't changed in appearance much but seemed much more awake this time around! How long ago it had been since she'd stumbled across the napping stallion. Eponine couldn't help but laugh, tickled pink that an old face was once again remembered, and she pawed at the ground in delight. "We have!" She responded happily, "Except th-th-this time you're m-m-much more awake."

"Chattering with the wind?" With a twinkle of amusement within his eyes. He could understand the concept of talking to 'inanimate' objects because.. He had probably done that many times himself. But he had never met another soquili much less a mare who would do the same.
Notcing her futile struggles in keeping the mare's lengthy hair down, he found himself smothering a laugh, to keep a straight face. He often had no trouble with his hair, until it grew long.. Than he had it cut short again. He was tempted to ask if she would like to move to a better spot where there were less winds.. But some mares tended to get huffy about the subject, for some unexplainable reason.. But this mare didn't seem to be too concerned about her hair either~
Oh, they would be very good friends, He hoped. She seemed like a nice enough mare. As he open his mouth, just about to speak, he was cut off by the mare's strange words. "..awake?" He said giving her a blank stare. What on earth was she talking about?

Eponine was pleased to note that the brown furred soquili didn't seem at all put off by her honesty. Some might have rolled their eyes or snorted in distaste at such foal-like behavior, but this one seemed more entertained than anything. It was good to not have to defend her behavior or actions so quickly - it seemed this one was quite tolerant.
The blue and ice touched female laughed again as Rohan expressed further confusion. She couldn't help it - he obviously had blocked out such a memory of their meeting! Shaking her wild hair out of her face for the umpteenth time, she gave a soft nicker and pawed at the earth. She'd just have to remind the poor fellow. . . .
Time had chanced them all it seemed. It blessed Eponine with age and a bit more grace, and had wiped her memory from the spirited tribal-marked soquili before her. "Yes, awake," she agreed, her aqua eyes bright with amusement. "I seem t-t-to recall meeting you b-b-beneath a tree. I was m-m-much smaller and younger th-then, hardly able t-t-to walk properly. You were t-trying to sleep but I r-r-refused to stray."
Oh, the faded memory was quickly brought back to life. She HAD eventually wandered off in search of happier victims, and hopefully he had been able to return to his nap. It had felt like ages ago but really hadn't been so long in the past. Time was known for running exceptionally fast. . . . . "P-p-perhaps we can start such int-t-troductions over?"
It would do well to put her best hoof forward - hopefully she hadn't traumatized him from foals too much after her meeting.

Apparently.. The soquili didn't often encounter others who shared the same views? He didn't know what experiences she had.. But it was normal for him to talk to objects so he didn't find it strange at all, to talk to objects. Oddly she seemed pleased by his reactions.. Maybe others didn't approve? With a slight frown, He contemplated the issue.. Maybe in his case, it was just that he didn't care for the opinions of others either way, because it didn't matter to him.
'What's so fun--" He asked in suspicion, as the mare's aqua's eyes were filled with laughter. Was there a joke that he missed.. or something? Shifting closer to the mare, Rohan over towered the mare by a few feet, but it was a sight to see. A mare who had the advantage over a clueless stallion.
But as the mare continued on.. Her words and actions began to make a... little more sense? Struggling to remember, A slight image.. of a filly who had woken him up gradually began to form in his mind. But he hadn't been sure of whether it had been a dream or not. But if what she said was true...
"Wai-- Don't tell me you were that mare? So it wasn't a dream!" His voice incredulous.

Eponine shifted excitedly from hoof to hoof as realization began to dawn upon the brown and green swirled male. She watched with baited breath as the cogs of his mind began to churn, as memory slowly began to glow within his eyes. Ooooooh - yes, that was right, she encouraged mentally before laughing happily again!
"That's r-r-right!" She giggled, aqua eyes delighted as the wind allowed her white mane to reach out like tendrils. She'd done a lot of growing up, it seemed, for better or worse. Despite the height and weight and lengthening of her mane and tail, she was still cheerful and bright as ever! "I s-s-suppose I can f-forgive you for not remembering," she teased with a breezy air, tossing him a delighted wink, "B-But I do have my own m-m-misgivings..." Ducking her head shyly, the mare pawed at the ground. "As you have f-f-forgotten my face, I have f-f-forgotten your name. . . "
Maybe that made them even.
Delighted by this reintroduction, one might have thought that Rohan and she were long-lost buddies! Amazing how she could harbor so much joy be being reacquainted with one who was as close to being dubbed a stranger! Still, noe one said that the blue and white mare was practical. . . .
It seemed she wasn't just an ordinary mare. On top of that, it seemed she found pleasure in the small and simple tasks of life. If this is how she acted reunited with a stranger, one could only imagine how she'd be around family or close-friends!
((Sorry it's short! D: ))
