Light footsteps tapped gently against the floor, pausing frequently as the eyes of the youth stopped to stare into a classroom in pure and simple curiosity. Brown strands fell before those crystal blue eyes, contrasting against them enough to only make them appear more vibrant. And with their wide stature he looked young, no older then fourteen. This was father awkward knowing the youths true age of fifteen, but more often then not outward appearances are deceiving. Extending a hand he touched a piece of paper, reading over the bulletin on the hallway wall.
He had traveled the school before but this was a new area. Being in the magical field there was usually no need to venture off into the science department, but today he thought it best he at least familiarize himself with his surroundings.
Turning from the paper he quickly backed up a step, ready to continue on when he heard something to his left and whipped around to see if someone was there. Not seeing a soul he started back forward without turning to look the direction he was heading. Without warning, he struck into a new form and jumped back, bewildered. “Oh I’m sorry! I’m so sorry,” Elijah voiced quickly even before he got a look at who it was he had just stepped upon.

Lorioth quietly padded down the hallways of the science department that he now knew so well. His light blond hair, so pale that it was nearly white, was a bit more unkempt that its usual state of neatness and his emerald pupils were tinged with a bit more red than usual, but nothing other than that suggested that the doctor hadn’t been getting much sleep lately. In one hand he held a test tube half filled with a dark, red liquid while the other’s fingers clutched a stack of papers.
Still not completely awake, Lorioth couldn’t resist giving an unprofessional yawn—but hey, no one was there to witness it…right?
The next thing he knew, he heard a hesitant footstep, and then something tangible collided with him, causing the doctor to give a yelp as the test tube flew from his grip spilling crimson liquid all over whatever it was that bumped into him. The test tube itself plummeted onto the floor, shattering and littering the hallway with hundreds of minuscule glass shards.
Stepping back to disengage himself from the collision, Lorioth saw that it was a student that had bumped into him. An unfamiliar face, but a student nonetheless.
A tired sigh escaped from the teacher’s parted lips—all that tinkering with his experiment gone to waste.
“I don’t think I’ve seen you before,” he said, addressing the student with neither friendliness nor annoyance, “but regardless, I would advise you to watch where you step next time.”
Wow, he actually sounded like a teacher for once. This lack of sleep really was getting to him. Pointing at the red stains on the boy’s clothes, he added, “That, by the way, was supposed to be a happiness potion. I haven’t finished adding the necessary ingredients needed to stabilize the solution though, so I have no idea what effect it may cause in its half-completed state.”

As soon as his body collided with the other form he stepped back just as the glass shattered across the tiles, splitting in different directions but shining like glitter that had been tossed across the floor. Each was a tesserae, a small piece which would be held together forming a grand image. If only he had his camera. But of course the shards needed to be cleaned considering their dangerous nature and the chemical that had been held within the container certainly as well would need to be washed away.
Looking now to the one whom he ran into, Elijah felt his heart hitch in his throat. At first he had preserved a student had been the one he had come in contact with but with further investigation he found instead a teacher stood beside him, speaking maturely in a young voice.
“I’m so sorry professor. It won’t happen again,” he promised timidly despite the civil way Lorioth replied to him. It was his fashion to behave as a subordinate to those he knew were of a higher rank then he.
“I really am sorry. It must have taken quite a while to accomplish what you had done…it seems I ruined all of your hard work,” he muttered while glancing down over the stains. He had heard what Lorioth had stated…it was uncharted territory. Those eyes widened in mild anxiety at the unknown while his face paled but all the same it forced him to realize something he had forgotten.
“Oh dear, where are my manors,” a hand offered itself to the professor, “I’m Elijah Delaiah, sir. I’m sure on different circumstances our meeting would have been more…I suppose formal.

Lorioth quickly dipped his head in acknowledgement at the boy’s response, his tired eyes momentarily catching the light.
“Apologies will not mend these shards of broken glass, will they Elijah?” the teacher teased in a playful tone, timidly accepting the other’s outstretched hand. “So I suggest we get to work cleaning up after ourselves, shall we? And please don’t worry about my work; I still have all my notes meticulously recorded out in these papers,” he smiled, waving the thick collection of papers held captive between his fingers.
The doctor stopped, scrutinizing Elijah’s stained clothing with professional eyes. “Under normal circumstances, I would say that the solution would certainly leave its mark on your clothes…but it just so happens that I have a different mixture in the lab that removes stains quite effectively.”
A strange smile touched Lorioth’s lips, “A student helped me make it—Rylenn. He’s the one who just got expelled recently.” What Elijah didn’t know was that he had meet Rylenn in circumstances quite similar to this one. This wasn’t the first time his half-completed projects had spilled upon an unsuspecting student, but at least this one didn’t seem to be in pain.
Walking swiftly over to a nearby room, he beckoned the student to follow. Tapping lightly on the Lab door, Lorioth stated, “Dr. Manneth—that’s me by the way. We clean you up first, and then we’ll take care of the glass, okay?”
After a few seconds of consideration he added, "Tell me immediately if you start to feel unusual in any way at all. I can’t guarantee what effect the happiness solution will have on you, especially when I hadn’t yet stabilized the chemical compounds contained within the potion or added the proper catalyst to ensure that the molecules break down in a rapid and efficient manner. Technically, the potion will only work when it is ingested, but in such a large concentration, it is quite possible that it may have any effect on you through sheer means of physical contact.”
Realizing that he was babbling again, Lorioth’s pale skin transitioned into a vibrant scarlet hue. “Well, umm, yeah, just tell me if you feel odd, ok?”
Holding the door open for Elijah, he waited for the young student’s response.

Though this was certainly a frustrating event, he could clearly see some positive outcomes sparked because of it. For one, he would get to know this teacher whom he had never met before and another was that he was thankful that Lorioth had made notes of the potion which would in turn allow him to recreate it if he so wish it. The only problem with that was that accident had put the efforts and time to waste. And what was more shocking was that this concoction had been put together with the help of a student no longer with the school, making its importance all the more notable.
"I'm still very sorry for this...I never expected it to happen," Elijah stated, feeling the need to apologize as he walked through the door as directed, "All that work...wasted. But thank you for the help, I really appreciate it."
The liquid was cool against his skin, having soaked through his clothing. The teen was relieved more so when he had come to understand there was something in the professor’s collection that would take the stain right out rather liking his the way it was. Plus, he had a limited amount clothing here at the school.
One through the door, the youth's eyes wandered, glancing about the lab and the many unique items that riddled the room. Chairs, desks, papers, lab equipment and all that one would find in such a place plus more resided there. Elijah had never any talent for the sciences, but even so the pure content of the study fascinated him. Finally he returned his gaze to Dr. Manneth and smiled.
And then his mind drifted to the potion and the erratic responses it had the potential of causing. Nothing had come over him...yet. "I feel fine now at least," he commented, hoping that in its incomplete state the potion wouldn't have any effect.

((Ahh...the potion that Lorioth dropped wasn't made by Rylenn--the stain remover was. Sorry for the confusion!))
Lorioth tentatively smiled back at Elijah, softy closing the lab’s door shut without so much as a thud. Placing his stack of papers on a nearby lab desk, he strode confidently over to a cabinet at the far side of the room. The doctor suddenly felt more at ease, for now he was in his element and he could find whatever he happened to be looking for here with his eyes closed. Throwing open the cabinet’s doors, he started shifting through the various test tubes assembled neatly on their respective racks.
“It’s no trouble at all, Elijah, set your mind to rest. It won’t take longer than a few days for me to get that solution back together,” Lorioth turned to look at the student, a faint expression on his face resembling amusement. The doctor seriously didn’t mind having to piece his work back together again—in fact, it’d take his mind off other matters that had been bothering him recently. He watched as Elijah took in the many wonders of his second home before grudgingly returning to the task at hand. After all, it wouldn’t do for the student to walk around with stains on his clothes for longer than necessary and be exposed to odd, unfinished projects. Finding the vial he was looking for, Lorioth turned to the student and offered it to him.
“Here you go. All you need to do is apply some of this to the stains—a drop per stain will suffice, and let it work its magic. It’s relatively fast acting, so you should see the end of the blemishes in a matter of a minute or so. Hmm…let me see…you can use this dropper to apply the solution to your clothes,” the doctor declared, also handing the dropper over to the other.
“While you’re doing that, I’ll go root around for something to help us clean the shattered shards of glass that awaits us outside.”

((Oh I'm sorry, I should have read that again, and I'm very sorry for my inactivity. I've been pretty busy lately))
Reaching forward, he sheepishly took the vial offered as well as the dropper. Upon inspection of the oddly colored liquid he gently applied the dropper, careful in his actions not about to repeat the previous incident. It took him only another second before the dropper was filled and he was placing the vial back down on a nearby counter to steady his accuracy as well as free the hand to slip it under his shirt and push it forward.
An indent of his hand print shown through the flattened material as he lifted the dropper above the largest stain. DROP. With that the first droplet was applied, creating a chemical (and magical) reaction immediately as it spread across the entire stain and bubbled wildly.
"Whoa," he muttered, before doing the same to another stain farther down his garment. Finished, he placed the dropper within the vial to not spread the liquid elsewhere in the room not needing to create another mess to clean just yet feeling the glass outside was enough for one day.
"Thank you, sir," he beamed.

((It's ok! No harm done ^.^))
Lorioth waited until he was sure that Elijah had a firm grip on both the dropper and the vial before letting his grip slacken on both items. It wouldn’t due to have a repeat of the earlier incident, and a good scientist should always learn from his mistakes. Smiling to himself, the doctor strode away to let the student go about the cleansing of his clothes. Without hesitation, the teacher made a sharp right that took his even footsteps over to the far right corner of the lab. Three dusty brooms and two dustpans awaited his arrival as anticipated—Lorioth knew the lab like the back of his hand just as surely as science was his forte. He crouched and his fingers closed around the wiry handles of the two brooms, while his other fingers attempted to bring both dustpans into his possession at the same time. The teacher’s efforts were rewarded with dancing dust particles, and his nose twitched in annoyance to this stimulus. Eyes watering, he quickly withdrew with two brooms in one hand and a solitary dustpan in the other. Rapidly throwing the items on a lab table, one hand flew quickly in front of his nose and mouth—just in time to receive a hushed lady-like sneeze. “Excuse me,” Lorioth muttered with a flushed and vibrant face.
Turning his head back to Elijah, he saw that the boy was already done with cleaning the stains. “Ahh, perfect! The stains are practically gone already!”
With enthusiasm, he bounded over to a sink and deftly turned on the cold water, placing his hands under the continuous stream that fell in a graceful trickle. Reaching for the soap to cleanse his hand of the germs that it had accumulated when he had sneezed into it, the doctor called over his shoulder, “Umm…Elijah, do me a favor and get the remaining dustpan from that corner over there? And a piece of advice to you—hold your breath!”

((I am so sorry it has taken me so long to relpy to this. And nice post, as always ^_^))
"Bless you," the teen piped up immediately after he heard the little sneeze and grinned as to express the notion further, but his eyes were once more distracted as he nodded in agreement with the Professor’s next words. Impressed was an understatement. Thrilled at the remarkable potion's results he gave a little chuckle. "Awesome. That stuff is pretty powerful," he remarked. He stayed there, marveled, until he heard Lorioth's next request and without any opposition he sprang up and took the dustpan in hand, having hurried over to the corner to gather the material.
Like before, dust was sprinkled into the air, but heeding the teacher's words, the teen held his breath briefly and waved a free hand through the particles as if swiping them away. Taking in a little breath, he relieved himself of the lack of air thankful that most of the dust had settled down once more. Eli took one of the brooms set on the lab table and headed out to clean the mess outside the door, not wishing to prolong their work.
The shards glimmered from their position mixed with the potion on the ground and the light from a window in the hall. Biting his lip, he cautiously kneeled down, holding still the dustpan as he used the other hand to brush slowly, not aiming to come in contact with the not quite finished liquid once more, still weary that unwanted effects could sprout up.

((It's ok! I've been taking my time posting as well. And thank you, but I think your posts are prettier n__n
This one was a little rushed so sorry about that >w<))
The doctor couldn’t help but smile at the student’s enthusiasm, light dancing in his soft green eyes. There was no doubt that his line of work wasn’t easy, but all the effort that Lorioth put into it was always worth it to him. There was nothing nicer than aiding someone through his concoctions and it never failed to warm his heart when he succeeded in doing so. “Yes, it’s almost like magic, isn’t it?” the teacher murmured softly to himself, before rinsing the last remains of soap that lingered on his hands. Turning once more, he saw that Elijah had departed the room.
“Try not to touch the spilled solution!” he called out loudly to ensure that the student could hear him from his position outside the room.
Lorioth swiftly walked to the other side of the lab to extract a long, trailing length of towel and four rubber gloves—a pair for himself and Elijah. As he walked towards the exit, his other hand took hold of the remaining broom and dustpan on the table.
He found the boy hard at work already, and still smiling he offered a pair of gloves to him, “Here, take these. I would say they were water-proof, but I think liquid-proof is a more appropriate in this situation.”
Looking down at the mess with a calculating face, he added as an afterthought, “Hmm…put these gloves on, and leave the removal of glass to me. I wouldn’t want you to accidentally get cut. You can help me get one of the garbage bins from within the lab. There should be one in the left-hand corner.”

((Thank you, but I think your posts are a beautiful fluency and you sculpt pictures nicely as well))
Reaching up, the youth took hold of the gloves having not even considered the usefulness they would provide and felt inwardly foolish for having forgotten them, but for now he ignored his embarrassment and slipped into the rubber items as to get back to work. "Thank you," he quickly said, truly gracious to the aided clothing.
He only looked up from his work again when Lorioth made the suggestion to grab a trash bin instead and immediately he stood. "No problem," he spoke as he almost pranced back into the room in search for the garbage bin. Once locking it in sight he moved to take hold and walk back out to the hall only to sit it down.
Without another thought he grabbed the handle to the dustpan and held it still so that the professor could sweep the shards onto its flat surface carefully while drops of the liquid were also brushed across the pan, budding here and there, but spreading similar to water color on thin paper. It amused him for the time being.
((Mine's pretty rushed to, and short, so no worries))

((Aww...I feel so flattered >w< I love your descriptions and wording though <33))
Relinquishing the gloves to the student with a warm smile and a quiet “you’re welcome,” Lorioth then deftly put on his own pair with an efficiency that only some one with a lot of experience could pull off, as Elijah retreated back into the sanctuary of the lab room to fulfill the teacher’s request.
“Now…what are we going to do with you…” the doctor mused quietly to the shards of glass, which appeared to be stained with a delicate, rosy red from the remnants of the spilled potion, that lay strewn across the floor like a crystalline mosaic.
Nodding in gratitude as Elijah returned with the requested garbage bin, he cheerfully regarded the student with friendly emerald eyes as he voiced in an upbeat tone, “Alright, let’s get this messed cleaned up, shall we?”
Lorioth’s fingers wrapped around the slender neck of the broom, manipulating it to push the shattered glass into the dustpan that the student held with graceful and fluent strokes. Since the test tube wasn’t actually that big, it wasn’t long until all the gleaming shards lay pooled together atop of the pan.
“All right…nice work, Elijah. All that remains is to feed shattered remains of the test tube to the garbage can, and we’re all done.”
((I think we can wrap up soon, unless you want to extend it somehow? xD))

((I am so, so very sorry this took me so long to get to. I've been busy with the start of a new semester and starting up my own shop. As for ending it soon, I suppose that could work if you'd like ^^))
Elijah had kept steady the handle of the dustpan a Lorioth delicately swiped the tiny shards across its surface and it wasn't at all long before they were finished with gathering the bits together. He gave a swift smile to the teacher enthusiastically before looking immediately to the trash bin he had brought out to dispose of the glass.
In some odd way it was almost a shame to see the pieces be reduced to trash within the can. They had managed to create quite a nice soft display of light blended with color through their translucent form, but he had not grown attached in any way and disposed of them as he was supposed to. Now all that was left for them to finish was collecting the remaining concoction from the floor. Would a rag suffice?
"How do we get rid of the potion?" he asked simply as his eyes returned up to the professor. The young man seemed to have an answer for everything and naturally Elijah trusted and respected what he had to say. Once they were finished with this where then would he turn? He couldn't remember now why he had come down this way and if it wasn't for any particular reason he wondered what then next to do after parting ways with the professor.

((It's ok! I've been really slow in replying to RPs lately as well xP. I don't mind if you want to keep going; it's just that the cleanup is nealy done, so if you don't want them to do anything else after finishing, we could probably end it n.n))
With the glass safely contained with the garbage can, they seemed no more than a mere passing memory, and Lorioth’s attention turned to the liquid that still trickled ever so slowly in bright red rivulets at the student’s question. Whoops…he had forgotten all about the solution! And there he was thinking that the tedious process of cleaning up was over and done with. He really had to stop being so scatterbrained and get more organized. Thankfully, another quick glance at the floor held the answer to the inquiry, for the doctor had had the sense to bring several lengths of towel with him from inside the lab, and it would save him or Elijah and extra trip back into the room.
“Heh…I forgot about the potion for a second there,” the teacher smiled sheepishly as he bent to pick one of the rags up, “But I think that these towels would do well in helping us soak up the remaining concoction, and rid the floor of its presence.”
Lorioth started to gently wipe the floor with the fabric, patiently waiting for it to absorb the liquid. “Oh, and don’t forget to keep your gloves on!”

((I don't have anything else really planned, unless you have something in mind))
"Of course," he grinned widely as he moved, following after Lorioth's example and grabbed one of the free towels' as to assist him further. Bending down against the floor, he started to wipe, scrubbing even as to collect as much of the liquid as he could. The clothes felt odd against his fingers but were a blessing between his hand and the unprepared potion glittering on the floor and through their soaked rags.
It was a mystery as to why the potion had not an effect on him. But as Elijah thought he had to wonder if it wasn't so much that it wasn't having an effect on him, but more like hadn't yet surfaced. He would be in quite the predicament if he were to walk away from here out of the professor's care only to start showing abnormal symptoms. Hopefully no such thing would occur. Perhaps the fact he hadn't shown signs of anything so far was enough to presume he would be alright the rest of the evening.
Picking up his soaked rag, he placed a hand beneath it as to catch any straying droplets in order to avoid further making a mess of the floor. He didn't bother asking what he should do with the towel either, thinking only of getting rid of it, and pressing his way back into the lab, he moved over to one of the sinks and there relieved himself of the dripping item and washed the cloves as well before returning out into the hall.
