"Move over Butch, lemme see"
Inside the dark, dusty room, three boys sat in the weak glow of a lantern, peering through a small hole that had eroded the wall away.
"Hey, quit pushing, get off me"
Busy fighting amongst themselves, the three boys didn't notice as another figure entered silently into the room.
"Get out."
The voice startled the three boys and they all jumped in fright, thinking that it was Gen the librarian descended from her high desk to pass judgement upon their souls. They leapt up and backed against the wall.
"W-we, we weren't doing anything"
The figure took a step forward, the light of the lantern playing weakly off his face revealed that it was Ky, not Gen as the boys had feared. For some reason, realizing this seemed to make the boys more stupid.
"Who the hell are you? We've taken this room as our personal territory. Leave if you know what's good for you."
Butch gave a cocky smile as he slowly drew his sword from its sheeth, its mental glinting evily off the lamplight. Ky's eyes flashed dangerously.
"I said leave"
"Hey Butch, maybe we should..."
"Shut up. I think this little twerp needs to be taught a lesson. I'll have you know I'm in AP Swordskills and top of the class. I'll show you what happens when you cross paths with a senior."
With a loud cry, the boy started running towards Ky, the sword held out in front of him.
Suddenly, Ky disappeared. The boy barely had time to register what had happened when an arm appeared out of nowhere and caught his throat, clotheslining him. His legs flew into the air and he struck the ground with a hard thud. The boy winced in pain, then opened his eyes to see a long metallic streak coming down from above. With a cry, he slid off to the side as his sword fell and struck the area where his head had just been. From where he had reappeared in front of the boy, Ky walked calmly over and pulled the sword from the ground. He stood, sword in hand, over the trembling senior.
"tch, you're not worth killing"
Turning the sword around, he tossed the sword hilt first to one of the boys standing shocked at the sidelines.
"Now leave."
This time, the boys were happy to oblige.

When Sakura flew into her dorm, she noticed a piece of paper on the floor that was slipped in under the door. Luckily she noticed it because she rarely used the door. What made her look that direction was a mystery. Floating over, Sakura picked the paper off the floor.
Meet me in the abandoned room in the library.
Within a flash, all that was seen was the piece of paper floating slowly down to the floor. Sakura was already out the window and soaring towards the library. She figured it was the person who stole her bag of beads. That person would want a ransom...well that person would get death instead.
Sakura arrived right outside the abandoned room and pulled out her two deadly fans. Then suddenly rushing in to surprise the thief, she was met with only Ky. Blinking in confusion, Sakura lowered her fans.
"What's this about? The sword right?"
Sighing, Sakura was disappointed that it had not been the thief. She wanted her beads back...

Rayan was walking silently towards the old abandoned room hidden away in the bowels of the library. Every few steps he took there was an incessant, low creaking noise. It was musty and dark, almost to the point of Rayan needing to feel his way around to walk about, but it was just light enough that he had no need to. After a few eerie moments, Rayan breathed out, "Geez, this sure is creepy... This has got to be the best spot to stage a murder if I ever knew one. I hate it when my clients choose creepy places to discuss business matters..."
Suddenly, three boys threw a door at the far end of the hall open and ran from the room hectically, causing Rayan to jump slightly at their sudden outburst. He stood and watched as they as they dashed past him for fear of their lives. Rayan shook his head, thinking, Well, if there is a murderer or something, he's gotta be in that room they came out of. In all the murder mystery books, this is the part that the clueless protagonist wanders into the dark room to confront the villain of the book. I guess that's what I'm supposed to do. Yippie...
Rayan shook off his thoughts and approached the door as nonchalantly as he could. He reached for the door handle, and slowly turned it. It sqealed loudly until Rayan slowly pushed open the door. Rayan peered into the room, seeing only a lot of dark.
"Swell..." he muttered quietly, and slowly walked in, his hands in his pockets. The floor boards beneath him made an eerie "creeeeeeak...creeeeeeak..." with every step. Continuing on, Rayan peered about through the thick darkness. Then, after several moments of silence, he saw a dim glimmer near one of the walls. Walking towards it, he saw the dark outline of a figure similar in height him.
That's it! The evil monster that climbs out of hell once in every third blue moon to devour the souls of its unsuspecting victims! Rayan thought, taking a few heartpounding steps closer. As he approached, the shadowy figure slowly became visible, until...
Oh my gosh...it can't be....It's...IT'S...! Rayan thought with built up suspense, until he at last saw the face of the dark figure. Oh, it's only Ky, Rayan smirked. All the drama of his imaginary murder mystery had been shattered.
"I'm here," Rayan declared to his supposed client. "Tell me what I came for."

"So I guess you got the note."
Ky was sitting on the ground leaning against the dusty bookcase, one knee raised. In the faint glow of the lamp, streaks and footprints could be seen where years of dust had been disturbed. Ky glanced indifferently at the fans. They suited her. It was good that Sakura had a melee weapon to supplement her magical abilities. Which reminded him.
Rummaging inside his cloak, Ky removed a small brown bag full of beads. He had taken it from Joy when she stole them from Sakura in the mountains. Not wanting to risk losing the beads, the groups only source of magic, Ky had decided to hold onto them until he could give them back to Sakura personally. He had tossed the bag over to her when another figure entered the room. He was outside the light of the lamp so Ky could only see a faint outline, but judging by his height and the outline of his body, Ky decided that it was Rayan.
Standing up, Ky dusted himself off before picking up the lamp and bringing it to a dust covered, rotting table that stood in the center of the room. Moving over to another one of the bookcases, Ky removed a large, tomb. The book was clearly old, faded leather sheets provided the covers that housed crusty yellowed paper. The binding was also provided by faded leather strips. Ky tossed the book onto the table where it landed with a loud thud, causing the table to shudder and clouds of dust to erupt from the impact point. Ignoring the musky smell, Ky walked over and opened the book, the pages crinkling in protest as he turned them one by one. Finally, he stopped on what appeared to be a large, and ancient handdrawn map of the world. The ink had faded and some parts of the map had been smudged away entirely, however, the major features of it were still discernable.
Leaning over the book, Ky gave a hard look at Sakura, then at Rayan.
"This journey will have a high probability of death or worse. If you want to leave, you must do so now. If you choose to stay, your commitment to the journey will be absolute. The purpose of this quest makes secrecy essential. If, after you hear what I have to tell you, you choose to defect, I will have no choice but to hunt you down and kill you myself. Do I make myself clear?"

Sakura caught the bag of beads with disbelief. A million possibilities ran through her mind...but only two of them stood out.
He stole them. He took them back from the thief.
He could have stolen them...held them against her...and destroyed them if she didn't come to this meeting. But why give them back to her in the beginning. That didn't make sense...so it must be the other way. He saved them from somebody. She could only think of one person who could have been the actual thief...which would also explain why she had one bead...Joy...
Her anger flared up again but died almost as quickly upon realizing that Joy did not have the satisfaction of getting any of her beads. In the process of processing all this...she just realized Ky had been talking...rather seriously.
"Sure...secret...right. Thanky for getting my beads back!"
Sakura then turned towards Rayan with an empty expression. He looked vaguely familar...although she couldn't really place her finger on why...

Rayan listened intently as Ky filled him in on the severe nature of him mission. His eyes were fixed on his employer the entire time, demonstrating the focus he had on his thoughts and his mission.
High chance of death...or worse? Rayan thought, slightly confused by Ky's words. He had taken plenty of missions before, but rarely had he ever been told by his client that there was a high chance of his demise by taking their offer. Rayan was especially thrown off by the fact that this was coming from a high school student and not a high-ranking military officer or someone of other high political and social stature.
When Ky finished, Rayan smirked. Heh, those are pretty high words. Kill me yourself? Don't count on it, buddy...
"So, this is supposedly some pretty hard core mission you're plotting. I generally like to get as much background info on my jobs before I accept, just so that I know exactly what sort of deal I'm getting. I don't want to be unwittingly agreeing to fight for some anarchist faction, or get involved in some war that I want nothing to do with, or end up trying to dissolve some evil business corperation that's slowly sucking the life out of the planet, or anything like that. But, then again, if you told me, I'd have to accept anyways, or face the risk of having you stalk me. Am I right?" *
(*Final Fantasy VII, anyone? ^_^; )
Rayan thought upon the matter further. He definitely didn't want to sign up for something he wasn't interested in, but again, if Ky told him anything more, he'd be forced to accept, or else have to put up with Ky trying to cut him down himself. However, Rayan decided that, although Ky looked like he had some serious skill, he doubted that the upcoming swordsman would be too serious a threat. He decided to take the chance of asking for more information.
"All right. Tell me more about the mission: what it is, why you're hiring me, what it's all about. Don't hold back on me," Rayan told Ky, with a calm but serious nature about him.
As he was waiting for Ky's answer, he noticed a girl dressed mostly in pink out of the corner of his eye. Since she did not speak to him, and since Rayan wanted to give his full attention to Ky at the moment, he felt no need to greet her. He could always run through the meeting process later. For now, Rayan merely nodded to her to acknowledge her existence, and then he turned back to Ky for the vital information he desired to know.

Ky glanced briefly at Sakura and dipped his head slightly in acknowledgement of her thanks. He then turned his attention back to his would be teacher.
Don't hold back on you? What do you take me for, an idiot?
Contrary to his thoughts, Ky nodded as if obeying Rayan's command. Ky need only tell Rayan as much as was necesary so long as Rayan thought he was hearing everything.
Ky motioned for everyone to gather around the map.
"The purpose of our mission is to find, and secure, the Eternal Sword. This treasure is the legendary weapons used by the fairy race in the great fairy/demon wars. As such, it will be hidden and well protected. I can ensure you that we'll be facing off against ancient magic that's been lost for millenia. The dangers of the mission are clear. No doubt the Majin, a half-human half demon race, have gotten wind of this plot and will surely move against us. It is for this reason that I chose to bring only a team of three. Three people, will be able to move much more swiftly and has a much greater chance of avoiding detection. In addition to the demons, we must all be prepared for what the fairy's have put in place to protect their weapon. This could be anything from man eating trees to invisible enemies to enormous Weapons sleeping deep within the earth that only awaken when they feel the need to extinguish all life on the planet ((more FFVII biggrin )). Nobody truly knows what the fairies were capable of in their prime."
Ky paused momentarily to let the information sink in before turning to Sakura.
"Sakura, can you tell us about where the Eternal Sword is hidden?"

What is with guys and dipping their heads...?
Sakura sighed when Ky addressed Sakura bout the Eternal Sword. She had heard all sorts of things when she was little about the Eternal Sword. From her knowledge she knew the supposed location of the Eternal Sword...and it definitly wasn't easy to get there.
"First we need to find the portal in the sky... That will lead us to an enchanted forest filled with unspeakable horrors. In the center of that forest is a waterfall where a stone tunnel is located in the back of it that leads underground. It is said that the tunnel is pitch black filled with living shadows that will come attack you unless you're surrounded by light. However, the darkness in that tunnel is particular strange because it devours light."
Sakura could almost imagine herself wandering through that tunnel of complete darkness. She had nightmares of it when she was little when her parents talked of it to her.
"If we get past that tunnel, we are then in the Lost Forest. It's located in an invisible temple...but we already have the solution for that because I only need to play my flute. The Eternal Sword's location is somewhere within that temple...but I have no clue where. I know it is heavily guarded... And I've heard stories of a horrible creature residing in it..."
Oh yes, she's heard terrible stories of the creature that lived in the temple. She dared not even think about stories that she's accumlated over her childhood years. She did not know if three people were able to fight it...if they even got there.
A shiver went over her body as she thought about the unspeakable horrors that lied ahead... She wanted to tell them more about the unspeakable horrors and about that creature, but she could not being herself to describe it. They were too horrible. In fact any information that was known about the creature was always passed along visually. Her parents had described the creature by sending her a dream about it. She awakened with a scream that pierced the night.

Rayan listened intently as Ky filled him in with information on his mission. His attention had been closely wrapped to Ky's every word ever since the mentioning of the Eternal Sword. Rayan had heard various tidbits about the legendary blade, and he was dying to learn more about it. However, as the Eternal Sword's location had been kept hidden to practically everyone but the fairies and their close acquaintences, he never had gotten a chance to discover more about it before. Rayan was secretly exceedingly excited that he would be going on a quest to find the mysterious sword.
However, upon hearing Ky mention the Majin, Rayan's expression became darkly serious. His eyebrows furled slightly, and his face became more tense.
The Majin? So then...this is how it turns out. It is decided...
Rayan remained silent throughout the rest of Ky's talk, and through all of Sakura's details on the nature of their mission. When they were through, Rayan spoke at last. "You mentioned earlier that you would be forced to kill me should I choose to decline your mission after providing me information about it," he said, looking straight at Ky with absolute seriousness. "I can tell you this: you have no need to worry about that happening. I don't care if I have to storm the island closest to Hell; I swear to you that I will aide you in successfully obtaining the Eternal Sword." (I love all these cameos. whee FF8 now...)
Rayan knew that Ky had not given him all the details since he had not spoken of the reasons the Majin were involved. However, it mattered not. So long as the Majin were involved, Rayan was resolved to fulfill his mission.
So, this is how it unfolds. I've been waiting for this opportunity for far too long... Rayan thought with a spark of bitterness. His eyes burned with the yearning to destroy the organization that had taken away something of immeasurable worth to him. Yes, they would all pay...every single one of them. He would see to that, and he would not rest until he had tread the path to revenge.

Puzzled by Rayan's sudden display of loyalty, Ky turned his attention away from Sakura and looked him straight in the eye. He was met with eyes filled with hate, eyes that spoke of bloody vengeance. Ky knew because they were the same eyes that met him everytime he saw himself in a reflection. They were good eyes. Ky nodded briefly.
"Good, we are agreed. Then let us get to the heart of the matter."
From within the folds of his clothes, Ky brought out a kunai. It's metallic edges glistened evilly in the light. He used the kunai to point to a location on the map.
"This is approximate the location of Ria, our departure point. At 0400 hours the day after the Winter Dance, we will depart and head northwards."
Ky traced their path with his kunai.
"It will take approximately 2 days to reach here, the village of Dali. We will replenish our supplies and stay the night. The following morning, we will depart again and head north northwesterly. This path will take us over the Streileheim Plains and into the Desert of Eternal Suffering. In the middle of this desert lies a temple with a hidden underground passageway that will lead us here, into the mountains. From this point, we have one week to cross the mountains and reach the port city of Euclid. We will then charter a boat that will lead us to the island continent of Ephaelia. After a short stop in the capital of city of Alvanista, we will march three days south. This will take us to our final destination."
Ky turned around and thrust his kunai into the darkness. A faint thud could be heard as the kunai buried itself into something hard. Picking up the lantern, Ky walked to where he had thrown the Kunai. It had buried itself into a large engraving on the wall of a map of the world.
Ky pulled his kunai out of the wood, where it had made a hole in a large depiction of a forest. He turned back to the other two.
"The Evercrest Forest."

The flames in Rayan's eyes died down partially as Ky explained the path of their journey. However, he still looked entirely serious. After Ky listed the towns and various areas they would pass through on their way to the their final destination, he threw his spiffy kunai dagger into a map on the wall, showing the position of the Evercrest Forest.
"So that's where the Eternal Sword lies..." Rayan breathed out, partly out of reverance. After moment of thinking over the matter, he added, "While I'm not exactly crazy about the idea of taking two weeks just to find the sword, let alone get back by the same route. But then again, I suppose I can't just expect to be able to get to the Eternal Sword's sacred resting place in one night. All the same, is there some faster form of transportation we can take to get the mission done quicker? I have a class to teach, and I'm not sure it'd go over too well to have me gone for an entire month on leave."
