Wow, so at my high school, we just finished putting on the production of City of Angels. It was amazing, I think it's safe to say that we did as good -- if not better -- than a professional theatre department could do with that show. The set pieces were unbelievable; we had this huge screen [which I forgot to get a picture of] and every black and white scene took place in front of it. The lights, costumes, and sets helped make it obvious which world each scene was in [black & white or color]. I'm going to try to find pictures from other people, but since last night was closing night, I felt like bragging about how amazing a high school theatre department can be.
Oh, and I loved how every night, there'd be a good handful of teachers, and after the show, you'd hear them say "I can't believe they were allowed to do that show!" Although, we did take out a REALLY bad part: the producer is on the phone, and he hangs up, and out from under the desk comes the star actress saying " Who was that?" and he says something like "Don't worry about it, just go back to what you were doing." That would have been WAY too sexual for high school!
We had a cast of 53ish, a crew of 20ish, and a band of15ish, and I'm so impressed at how well we did with such a large cast/crew/band! And I can't wait for our next show in the spring: Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead!
