Nanowrimo or National November Writing Month is where we write 50,000 words in thirty days or less. Why? Because we can.
While there is a sticky in the WF, I'm like why not put one here too? It would be fun hearing from the participants, discussing tips, stragegies, our stories, or just goofing off. We're all here for each other.
Now let the fun begin!

I'm totally doing this. I have no clue how I'm going to hit 50k because I'm constantly infected by the dreaded writer's block, but it's always fun to see what kind of story I can come up with x].
The kind of story I'm working on currently is probably what most people would deem as cliche, but.. it's pretty fun to work on still. It comes from a dream I had, and I decided to see just how far I could take it.

I hate those. Had a huge one last year and kept writing one bloody chapter over and over. I never liked what I wrote. Nothing seemed to be good enough. It didn't help that I kept floundering and had poor planning as far as time goes.
Most stories aren't originals. Some may even have cliche stuff. It depends on how you write it and how you develop the plot. It doesn't have to be the final draft. I'm planning on editing mine afterwards. So far, I estimate it to take at least two to three months, depending on how much time I have leftover from both my job and school. Thankfully, school ends in January.
What genre is your story?
Mine is science fiction/action/mystery/romance. At least, that's what it sounds like from the summary. ._.

My story is mostly fantasy, although.. more like.. historical fiction? Hahaha, still trying to figure it out. I'm not that far in it because I have a terrible memory and can't remember much of what I wrote half an hour ago. Makes for an interesting story. o_O;
I'm not too good at editing.. xD I tend to rewrite the whole thing, then stick in parts I like, which.. end up not being really edited. Again, quite interesting.
Sci-fi though.. ooh, sounds cool ^^. I hope you figure out what genre it is then, soon~

Main genre is sci-fi. There are others subgenres, but I'm not sure of it. I know one of them is romance though you won't find pure sap or fluff in my book. It's just not my style. You'll find a lot of flirting and some innuendo though nothing more than cuddling and some French kissing and whatnot. I'm not going to go into the rated R or higher material.
As far as editing goes, I add a little here and there, mainly to do with physical description and action. I write mostly what the characters are thinking and then add the physical part later. This book will have at least two edits. Maybe more if I'm up to it or want to actually publish the thing.
Haven't even decided a title for it or a name for the protagonist's organization.

xD That's amusing. In a good way though. You'll be posting it here when you're done? I never quite learned how to write good romance, so maybe I'll pick up a thing or two from you.
That's a good idea how you write, although I don't think I'll be able to pull off writing like that.
As for organization, what kind of organization is it?

Probably. It won't be finished for awhile not unless you want to see the slightly crappy second draft, and it still won't be complete, because my outline is too long to be written in 30 days. I'm hoping to have the second draft finished by January or February next year.
Erm. I use romance as a subgenre and not so much. It's more of character development.
Think of it as an independent law enforcement group. They're not part of the government and aren't recognized by them, but sometimes, they work closely with the government. Oh yeah, they have enhancements. Nothing fancy like making things appearing out of thin air. It's more like their powers has to obey the laws of nature.

n_n Sad to say, I ended up not getting too far with it because I was swamped with all this work from school. I'm going to still try to work on it though, since the period when I was writing it was probably one of my most productive times.
I think I know what you're talking about though for the group. It's like.. Division 8 or something in Artemis Fowl. o_O; I think. Wow, outline though.. I never use those. I probably should though. x_x

Didn't make it either. I tried typing as much as I could, but I ended up being in such pain that I had to stop. I was trying to basically type 40k in less than a day. X.x Never going to do that again. I had it written it out on paper, but didn't have it on computer for verification.

No. The editing is done in March. But I'm just writing 50k in the 31 days of March for the fun of it. If it proves too difficult, I'll skip this November. If I manage to do it, I'll enter this November.
