Not that he intended on catching them and eating them, like he did with preybeasts, no, it wasn't that kind of hunt; but the muddy-furred male had always enjoyed being in the company of a lady-dog or two.
There was a beat to everything and he listened for it as he walked, his paws pouncing along the ground with a tump, thump, pounce, whirl, thump. He was a young leopard and his head was held high, not a mark marred the soft tabby-ish coat, though he certainly was not very well groomed he held a very rougish charm about himself that said he really didn't need to have his fur pristine.
At the moment he was padding along to the tune of the grasshoppers, a song whisteling past his lips as he went his shoulders swaying from left to right, he did so enjoy dancing to the tune of the world around him, it always echoed in his small tufted ears.

Mhuni chuckled to himself as he fell upon his haunches and used a back leg to scratch behind his ear. The fleas he had weren't too numerous, nor did they bother him that much anymore. He'd never been very well cared-for, so he'd had them since he could remember, and they were almost like family to the old scoundrel. The male lifted himself and padded a few steps forward, then stared down into the barely trickling little rivulet of water.
Ears twictched forth as the male caught the sounds of another, from the way they were coming, they sounded rather cheerful. At least if he ran into this other, whatever it may be, it's mood were to match his own, and that meant less chance of a scuffle.

The dog in the distance caught the young ginger males eyes and he tilted his head, the scratch of the back paw, caused a new sort of rythem and his left forpaw tapped in time to the scratting. He grinned, he was far from frightened of dogs, he had met a few in his time, padding forwards his tail flickered up over his back twitching in time to the sounds of the savannah.
"Hey!" He smiled, a soft cheery puurr rolling over his pale lips."Do that thing with your paw again." He said rather simply his back paw tapping to an unknown tune, his youthful maw set and determined, that simple scratch, had changed the rythem which he had been humming to, a change in the music always required a repeat performance.

The wild dog gave the young leopard a confused look for a moment, and then grinned stupidly, wagging his tail at the cheery cat. Normally he'd have felt some reason to be downright awful to this other, as he was a different species, and especially because he was a cat. Not that Mhuni really had any reasons to discriminate, he was nothing special himself. But he shrugged those thoughts away and felt more than pleased to oblige this other's request.
He again lifted his hind leg and scratched behind his ear, this time harder, as; he'd admit, he hadn't really gotten it quite right the first time anyway, and it always felt nice to scratch. The aged dog chuckled as he watched a small black body fall to the ground from his scratching, and he let his back leg fall back down, and then pawed at it with one of his front paws, trying to flick it away.
One less flea, one less problem; he laughed.

Beau's auburn eyes closed as the musty grey dog lifted his paw and repeated his action at his request, his smile widened and he nodded his head in beat with the scratch. "Yeah, thats awsome!" Opening his eyes he shook his ruffled head, his long fringe falling over one eye before he puffed it away with an upwards blow. "Names Beau stranger and you have some awsome rythem." He puurred, ignoreing the small black dot which rolled off in to the long grass dead from the rough assult of the older dogs back leg.
His tail started to flick then as something dripped in the small trikle of water behind the wilddog. "Water it drips and it wasn't a fish, cause the savannah is dry as a bone, but the dog he seems happy, and I can certainly be chatty, at least til I finish this song." He laughed and winked. "work in progress sorry."

Mhuni gave another little chuckle, and then stood again, looking down once more at his reflection for a moment, and then back to the cat. He sure was silly. And what was all this about rhythm? Well...Mhuni had never thought of himself as musical or anything of that sort, but whatever, right? He shrugged it off, and then tilted his head, one ear perked and the other laying at the side of his head. "Beau...?" He rolled the name off his tongue, and then grinned, long, pink tongue hanging out. "I'm Mhuni." He said shortly, wagging his tail again.
"Why do you sing such a funny song?" He inquired. "You can't get ladies with crazy songs like that, you know. You've got to be smooth, suave...cool." He said, nodding in the general direction of the cat, tail still wagging away behind him.

The young leopard grinned repeating the name he was given, "Mhuni" he licked his lips and nodded "yup, suits you." He grinned as his long tail gave a swift long sweep clearly what ever rythem he was listening to had slowed.
"I love to sing, tis kind of my thing." He chuckled, he hadn't meant to rhyme that time, these things just seemed to happen naturally for him. "Ladies?" The ginger male raised a brow, girls were the last thing on the young cats mind. "I never really thought about it, you know." He looked thoughtful for a moment. "wait, I'd have to dissagree, I reacon ladies would love my slow song." He gave a nod and a grin, there was a song for every situation, or so he beleived, he just had to find it and sing it, which was easier said than done really.

Another chuckle floated from the happy old dog, and he glanced about. It was still nice and cool, though the sun was moving toward it's highest point, it's hot-spot. He gave a small snort, and then looked back over the orange cat. "Well, whatever floats your boat pup...er....kit?" He grinned stupidly, once again, then flopped his ears around for a moment, before looking back down at himself in the tiny trickle of water. For some reason Mhuni couldn't quite put his paw on, he felt really fidgety today...or at least right now.
Then again, once he actually gave it a moment of thought, he figured it to be just because he was sitting here talking to a cat, rather than doing what he'd intentionally set the day aside for in the first place. Which really, had nothing to do with cats; nothing at all.
...Nor males, for that matter...

The ginger male grinned, pup? He chuckled but shook his head and let it slide, tilting his head he watched the old male fidget a bit and raised a brow, he wondered why he was so twitchy. He supposed he, himself could be sen as alittle twitchy, his body constantly moving to the rythem that rang in his tufty ears, but the wilddogs movements were differnt.
"You seem jkinda high strung. You should sing a song to relax yourself a lil, I know this great one, tis a lullaby that my mo.....That someone used to sing to me when I was a cub." He coughed and cleared his throat, "you wanna hear it?"

Mhuni again tilted his head at the leopard. High strung? Yeah, sure. He was just...realizing that this cat had been distracting him from what his original goal for the day had been. Which was finding ladies to hang around with, duh. Seriously...who wouldn't wanna spend all day with lady-dogs? Mhuni snorted at that thought, and then rolled his eyes.
"A song won't help, young cat." He said quietly, not meaning to be rude at all, just stating how he felt about that. "However, if you really feel you must insist, then I would be happy to sit and listen, I suppose." The old muddy-furred dog added, nodding at the leopard again, tail wagging as it had before.

Beau raised a brow, he wondered what the old dog was thinking, but let the thought slide, he knew getting too personal could get him in to trouble.
On aggreement of his song though the tabby male gave a grin and cleared his throat to let the best sound escape. "Alright, here goes." he paused and took a deep breath.
"April Roses, Tiny Sparrows, Comets bright and blue,
All belong together in the mystery that is you,
when I see your little face,
I hear a song from long ago,
I think you know,
The many secrets I'v forgotten.
generations throught he ages,
joined as one some how,
leading to the miricle that I am holding now,
Fromt he sky and fromt he sea, upon a breeze, you came to me,
you've seent he sea,
a greater universe than I know.
Sleep my baby, sleep my baby,
dream of somewhere far away,
do you remember still?
How I hope you always will,
keep the memory of the day the world was born."
The young male smiled shyly, strangely his voice was very melodic. "Guess thats all I can remember, I know theerw as anotehr verse." He coughed shuffling his paws slightly embarressedly, it had been a long time since he had heard that song.
