Oh my god...I went into Gamestop and got ahold of the Heavenly Sword demo. I clicked it, and as soon as the gameplay started I was blown away.
The first thing that caught my eye were the visuals. Amazing, huge, colorful environments. The character models were detailed up the wazoo. Everything looked clean, smooth, and polished. Definitely a winner there.
The gameplay is definitely not a loser either. I recognized this demo from E3, btw. I was surprised to see that during cinematics you were still part of the game. When she was running on the ropes, you had to press X to make her jump, and move the analog stick the corresponding way to have her move. It was awesome. Then came the fun part: beating people up.
So I'm standing on a small pillar with forty guys standing around me, right? So I figure that to beat them all, I have to be precise with my controls to take them out without dying, right? WRONG. It's the kind of game where all the buttons are to hit someone, just in different ways. So press whatever you want and see what happens, because they all kick a**. And hell, you might even do a cool finishing move if you're lucky!
There were only two things that annoyed me, and it didn't have to do with gameplay. When starting up the demo, a title screen saying "Heavenly Sword" must have come up at least five times. Not a big deal though. It got worse. The loading time was ATROCIOUS. To load that whole, short demo took at least 60 seconds, not kidding.
So in the end, Heavenly Sword's Demo was a winner! Can't wait to play the real game!!! mrgreen

I'll tell you what, Heavenly Sword was Badass in all aspects, except one...
You know what I'm trying to say.
I'm telling you, if they managed to keep what the did up while fixing it's one major flaw. That game would be of award-winning quality.

Do you mean load times?

Erm. Care to give a perspective of just how long the load times are? How big were the environments that took 60 seconds to load? Anyways, I hear you throw hats at gongs.

You'd think they would find a better way to load stages, what with the power the PS3 has.

tangocat777 You'd think they would find a better way to load stages, what with the power the PS3 has. Yeah... The loading wouldn't have been as tedious if there was something to look at. I mean, with the processing power the Ps3 has they could have put a better wallpaper and maybe some hints for the game, or maybe show how to do some combos. It was just the same drab wallpaper for a whole minute.

They gave me information on different planets, what happened 1000 years ago, and game tips. Mind you, you couldn't get this information anywhere else in the game, no matter who you talked to. HS, the retail version, has bad loading in these areas. Starting the game, and quiting the level. Everything else is smooth sailing.

Well, considering I'm slightly annoyed with the 10-second load times of BWii, imma stay away from Heavenly Sword. At least BWii gives you something to read as you wait. You know, mission briefing, hints, etc.

Btw, I still don't have BWii gonk , saving up for the Ps3. I'm getting the 80gb model, btw. My dad doesn't want to have a Ps3, Wii, AND Ps2 all in the living room. Which means I have to get Motorstorm. xp
