Despite her run in, not too long ago, with a rather angry hyena (encounter which had, in fact, resulted in a couple of scar which were thankfully healing well under her pelt), Alcyone refused to believe there could be anything but sunshine in the world. Surely it'd been a mistake. Surely nothing out there could want to hurt, or otherwise harm such a pretty little thing as she in any way whatsoever! What was wrong with the world? Couldn't others come to appreciate just how magnificent she was, all on her own?
Huffing silently, the small female padded elegantly in search for shade; obviously she couldn't hunt in the broad daylight; she'd risk sweating! The gods themselves would surely cry, were they to see her pristine, white pelt messed or ruffled further than it'd been thanks to that hyena. At the thought of the black and white canine, Alcyone sneered, her head lifting up gracefully to look behind her, "Scoundrel," she said to no one in particular as she reached a tree, placing herself with care against the bark so she could groom herself to perfection.
Hopefully the wounds would not leave permanent scars, she thought to herself as she licked the pelt over the places she'd known had been torn, days before. Whatever the world had prepared for her, it better be good, she thought with mild distaste as she lapped at the fur; she was surely in need of a bit of ego-stroking after that mild bashing she'd received (the world around her might've just had a thing or two to say against such an idea however).

Al-Hattal was an expert at stroking female egos. He'd spent his life doing it. Most of his time had been spent around lionesses - other creatures were often wary of lions, after all - but he had an appreciation for everything female, feline, and even remotely attractive.
The pretty little thing that soon came into view was no exception. There was definitely something about cheetahs, in their slender, long-legged elegance. It was exotic, intriguing...alluring. And that coat! So very lovely. Right this moment, he would love nothing more than to...get a closer look.
He knew to be cautious, though, and paused some distance away with a cordial tip of his head. "Hello, Miss."

The voice made Alcyone's head snap up from it's resting place, her eyes wide (after all, even though she still firmly believed nothing was out to get her, experience had taught her to be cautious enough). The form of the male, standing just a mild distance from her causing her to tense just a tad as she frowned; taking a momment to peek around, she soon enough decided that, yes, this male was talking to her. Of course he was, she soon enough decided; she was the only thing beautiful enough to talk to in the surroundings. The thought caused her body to relax into a more comfortable position as she smiled, "Morning to you too."
Now, the male wasn't a cheetah, but he was gentlemanly enough, she decided with a mental nod of her head; he was also strong and healthy looking, which in her book meant he deserved to be talking to her. That aside, he was standing a respectful distance from her, had addressed her formaly and didn't seem to be after any meal. Not to mention he wasn't a blasted hyena (disgusting, vile, evil creatures!). All good in her book, "What brings such a handsome prince to my resting place?" a brow arched before she patted the soft earth beside her with a paw; a clear invitation for him to join her, "Do come and rest yourself from the sun; it's quite hot, and I wouldn't wish my worst enemy to be out suffering it," a pause, "It's bad for the skin," she added as an afterthought, almost as if feeling the need to elaborate.
This done, she went back to grooming the pelt near her hind legs, where the hyena had left her a couple of scars; of course, she was still proud to note she'd left her fair share of them on the canine's body herself, "My name is Alcyone; what might yours be?" thanks to her manner of talking, the charmer might've noticed the petite cheetah deemed herself to be a princess, or at least, royalty in some way. Even the way she lay under the tree seemed to voice out 'I am special; treat me well' to the rest of the world.
It was probably both annoying and... mildly cute, in a way. But mostly annoying.

Fortunately, when it came to females, Al-Hattal was very hard to annoy. Granted, this attitude or that might start to wear on him if he had to deal with it day in and day out, but he never stuck around long enough to find out. He could put up with just about anything short of violent for however long he had to - it was always worth it.
"I simply couldn't help but notice that there was a beatiful princess here, and all alone." The black male smiled charmingly, accepting the cheetah's invitation and moving into the shade. Though he didn't have the lithe grace of a cheetah, he carried the power they didn't. Taking it as a good sign that she'd already called him 'handsome,' Al-Ha took a moment to admire her - respectfully, of course.
"I am Al-Hattal," he returned. "It's an honor and a pleasure to meet you, Alcyone."

Ooooooh, he was saying exactly what she wanted to hear; Alcyone never seemed to pause to notice that things, whenever too good to be true were usually indeed too good to be true. Instead, she seemed content to take in his compliments with heavy-lidded eyes, a smirk tugging at her maw insistently, "Wise, wise, prince that you are then," of course she meant that he'd instantly recognised her for what she truly was. Ego much?
If she'd had any doubts before that he was worthy enough for a spot of company, they were instantly vanished when he'd spoken. A soft nod of approval followed as her half-lidded eyes followed the lion's movements, "It is a pleasure too; I hardly ever meet others with manners around here," her brows had knitted together, ever so slightly as she'd spoken, her mind seemingly entertained with some past happening before she huffed haughtily, "Alas, that is not of importance as of now; I am equally pleased."
The fact he was 'admiring' her wasn't lost by the cheetah, whom did a full show of grooming her arm methodically for him, pausing only when she was certain it was her turn to eye him, "I am all alone, indeed, and extremely bored. I do not live here. I became a wanderer, not too far back," that much was obvious, even if she'd not voiced it to him, "I'd rather like a bit of company; you are welcomed."

"It's a pity how even common courtesy seems to be scarce at times, much less real sophistication." He, of course, was quite sophisticated, or so he liked to think. If nothing else, he was very good at pretending to be, and for all intents and purposes the same thing. As long as she thought him to be whatever it was she was wanting for, chances were he'd be getting what he wanted.
Al-Hattal enjoyed her little show, watching her rough tongue smooth down white and orange fur. She did keep herself very well. Perhaps I can entertain you - consider me at your service, Alcyone."
He dipped his head in what bow he was capable of while seated.

"Oh?" her head tilted slightly to one side, innocence ringing through her features, if only slightly before she smiled, "Do you have, perhaps, something in mind that you would like to share?" indeed, it was like saying 'a penny for your thoughts', in a way, however, the small cheetah couldn't help herself; he was being rather intriguing, if not enigmatic, in his own way.
In fact, by now, Al-Hattal could have told her that the moon was black and the sun was blue and Alcyone would have agreed; rather than her having him in her paw, he had her, eating straight out of his paw. It wasn't all that difficult; all one had to do to get something out of the poor, naive cheetah was aiming a few well placed compliments, "Sophistication," she snorted the word, turned to glance around, "I don't see much of that; everyone's too busy going for each others' throats of a piece of meat, instead of trying to talk some sense," she waved a paw almost dismissively, as if she were trying to push away the thought, to the very back of her mind, "Scandalous, if you ask me, when we're all perfectly able to hunt on our own and be sated. What harm has a good intelligent talk ever done to anyone?"
Of course, never once did it occur to her that she wasn't being all that intelligent, "Indeed?" she repeated again, a coy smile tugging at her maw, "Perhaps you would be able to entertain me; you already are..." a purr was released through her maw, her eyes heavy lidded, "What is it you wish from me in return?"

"Only my sympathy," he purred in answer. He'd perfected the art of being attractively mysterious - tall, dark, and handsome as it were. He certainly had the dark part down, all the way to his black eyes. You couldn't get any darker!
"No harm at all, of course, though you wouldn't know it from some of the behaviour you see. Even in pride lions! You'd think there'd be someone around who could instill some manners." Like in that thick-headed juvenile he'd met in the Pridelands! Still, overall his memory of that place was good, thanks to a certain spotted lioness by the name of Kimya'ukilia.
"Wish from you?" Al-Hattal looked slightly taken aback - of course he had no ulterior motives! "Oh, Alcyone, nothing but your company!"

Making a small 'Tsk' like noise with her tongue, the female rolled her shoulder elegantly, "Creatures now a days, they hold no pride. No elegance. Mostly brutes... they won't even stop for idly chit chat," she'd have sneered, but somehow the movement seemed beyond her at the time. Instead, she rolled her eyes and shook her head side to side, "There are times I wish I had the time to shove them into a water hole; maybe the cold water would cool those heated thoughts of their," a pause followed, after which the female chuckled, "Sympathy, you say," allowing a smirk to touch her maw, she made a small show of licking her maw, her tongue passing over her lips and teeth, "Indeed."
Of course, she too had perfected the art of flirting; coy as they came, Alcyone had no problem with giving others what they seemed to seek, so long she got the same right back. It hadn't occurred to her that flirting, for males, was a tad different than it was for females; after all, if a so called 'accident' were to happen, the male would never be as bothered by it as a female would, later on, due to nature having taken it's course.
Despite how coy she was, and despite the suggestive lick, she was rather naive. So much so that never once did it pass through her mind to think that things were going too fast, too soon and that Al-Hattal, despite what he was claiming, had ulterior motives indeed, "My company?" again she chuckled, leaning in till her nose was almost pressed against his, her eyes only half open, "Something tells me that... my company is what you seek indeed," it was a play on words, as she pulled away; regardless, she seemed to be okay with this, actually.

Oooh! Shove them in a waterhole, hmm? So she was fiesty, too! Ooh, he liked that. It was quite possible he could use a dunk in some cool water to soothe his own heated thoughts, but his weren't the angry kind. His were much more...pleasant. Oh yes. And it would seem she was having a few of the very same nature, judging by the fascinating way she smirked and then licked her maw. This was shaping up to be a very, very good day for Al-Hattal.
As she leaned in, so did he, spellbound by those yellow eyes; each was comfortably in the other's paws, it would seem. He looked both startled and disappointed when she pulled away. "Oh, my lady," he said with an alluring rumble in his voice, "I am very much your prince."

"That you are," came the purred response, her smirk having turned into a slight uplifting of her lips; one devoid malice, soother than it'd been before. In fact, it was probably safe to say the male had soothed her out enough that she'd practically forgotten what she'd been angry over just bare moments ago; it was all a matter of stroking her ego, just the right way, to make her feel better about herself, really, and right now he was making her feel as good about herself, as anyone had ever made her feel.
Feisty was not all what she was, in fact, it was clear that she'd have headbutted with anyone that so much as dared to refuse treating her as she felt was only right. Her sharp tongue had gotten her into more than a sticky situation before, the aforementioned hyena-related one being obviously, one of few. Still though, the female refused to believe this could have anything to do with her. At all. She was perfect, by all means, "Does this prince not want even a kiss from the princess thus? After all, I was feeling quite irritated, and now I find myself not caring about the moronic situation that had put me into such a foul mood to begin with; that deserves a reward, as far as I'm concerned."
That aside, the alluring rumble of his voice was having the desired effect, for the smaller female found herself scooting towards his frame till they were only lightly pressed one again the other. Not only did she not noticed she'd moved till she found herself looking up, nose to nose with him, but later one, she'd wonder if he'd cast a spell on her. Yes, a spell, that was it; he'd cast a spell on her... a spell she didn't really seem to want to fight against, needless to say.
