He ambled along cheerfully enough, though the voice that lurked in his mind was always "watching" his movements, so Toquah still felt slightly uneasy whenever he could feel his "other" self awake. Feeling as if he probably wouldn't be able to enjoy himself much today, Toquah merely stopped in the middle of a meadow to relax and nibble at the sweet grass that surrounded him. Grinning a familiar fox-like grin, Toquah eventually began to "sleep" as Kan emerged.

Kan snorted to himself when he felt his other half go to sleep. Lazy idiot, always wanting to relax and sleep and not do a thing. Why did he have to do all the damn work for them? Oh well, Toquah was still pretty much a foal. Being split in two wasn't a great feeling; Kan wasn't sure when they would merge into one mind, but he knew it wasn't going to be soon. Ugh, irritating. He continued to amble away from the meadow, but then realized that was pointless, and then he returned to the same spot. He felt like if he stayed here, something interesting would happen.

Duncan cantered through the soft grass, a bright grin on his face as though nothing could ruin his mood. He was in the middle of humming a little tune to himself and thinking of how beautiful the day was when he noticed another stallion further up the meadow. Without a second thought he made his way towards the stallion. "Hello!" He called out brightly to the other male.

Kan paused when he heard a male's voice, and he quickly turned around to see who it was. He blinked. This stallion reminded him of Toquah... "Hey," he replied in that cool way of his, laid-back and casual. "What's up?" Though Kan was the more confident of the "two", he certainly could be a jerk and wouldn't take no for an answer. He was quite stubborn sometimes. In contrast... his other half, Toquah, was meek, wimpy, and pretty much the shy type. He mentally shook his head in disgust as he gauged the reaction of the new stallion.

"What's up? Not much I guess. Isn’t it a beautiful day?" Duncan grinned at the new stallion. This stallion seemed to be older than him by the way he carried himself; most likely wiser too. But none of that mattered to him. He swished his braded tail back and forth to shoo away flies. As he got closer to the stallion he nodded a greeting, a friendly gesture to yet another soquili he planned on making friends with.

He sneered slightly at the other stallion, half-amused and half not amused as the other Soquili greeted him. "What's your name? Mine's Kan..." He trailed off, catching himself about to explain about his... condition... but figured it'd be better to test the other stallion and see if he could tell there was "two of him" residing in one body. He wasn't really sure how it happened, just that it had. One personality (or one mind, whichever way you thunk it) would be reserved for the family, the other for strangers. Kan was reserved for strangers. Toquah was reserved for the family. Unfortunately.

He woke up to see a new Soquili there, grinning at him. Hm? Did he know him? "H-Hello!" he said, shying away slightly. He wasn't very good at making friends, or saying hello to strangers, but that stallion seemed very nice... seemed okay. Still, though, Toquah knew better than to just do a judgment based on first impression, and so he waiting nervously for the other to answer. "I'm Toquah, by the way," he added after a momentary lapse of silence passing by. The silence unnerved him, and it was all he could do not to bolt and stay still in the same spot.

Duncan raised a brow, slightly confused. His grin faded a little bit. "Okay, hi again." He grinned widely again. "My name is Duncan. I was just admiring this wonderful weather we are having."

"Maybe Toquah is his nickname. Should I call him by his name or by his nickname? If he wanted me to call him by his name he probably wouldn’t have told me his nickname; but then again some people like to be called by their name instead of their nickname." The thoughts were running through his mind quickly, only allowing for a small pause in what he said to Kan.

"Perfect for a game of hide and seek or a race." He paused for another moment. "Do you like games?"

Toquah smiled timidly back, unsure of how he had ended up meeting this stallion. "Um, um, could you tell me what you were doing earlier? I-I have this memory pr-problem, you s-see, and um, w-well..." He fidgeted as he let his sputtering and blabbering fade away. Oh, if only he were more confident! "Y-Yeah, it is a n-nice day t-today, i-isn't it?" He agreed, smiling slightly as he looked at the blue, blue sky. He glanced back at Duncan, and then ducked his head. "M-my full name i-is Toquah'kan, you see..." Duncan did look confused. "B-But you c-can call me T-Toquah." Toquah blinked, about to say something, but immediately "blacked out" before he could answer Duncan's question about games.

"Sure do," Kan remarked, finding his own little game at the moment completely amusing. "And like before, just call me Kan. No need to call me Toquah, that's too long, you know?" He flicked his tail in a slightly arrogant way of saying he was most certainly in the mood for a game. "I'm not particular on hide and seek, but a race is perfect. Racing is my favorite game. The feel of the grass being pounded under your hooves and the wind blasting about your entire body is something that's only possible when you race!" Kan pranced about a bit, and then he watched Duncan, keeping an eye out for the other stallion's reaction. It was probably confusing the poor guy half to death with the different personalities, but only Kan knew he had a split personality, anyway. Toquah was just a cast-away that had yet to leave. He mentally decided he would have to work in order to be the "dominate" personality if he didn't want other Soquili to get a strange impression of him.

"Okay Toquah'Kan," Duncan said a little unsure. "I'm still not too sure which you would like me to use." The stallion had said he had a memory problem. Did he forget that he told Duncan to call him Toquah? It was all very confusing and he did not want to upset his new friend so early. "Um, I don’t want to upset you, but would you mind if I were to call you T.K.? It seems a lot easier and shorter to say and remember." He laid his ears back in preparation for being yelled at for such a silly request. If he had wanted to have been called T.K. he would have probably told Duncan to do so. It wasn’t truly his place as a new friend to be giving new nicknames.

Kan was about to remark about how bored he was when Duncan offered up the new nickname "T.K." Surprised, he only stared at Duncan before he slowly nodded. "That... that's good. You can call me T.K. Yeah." Kan was so surpised that, in fact, he allowed Toquah to take over for the rest of their interesting meeting, deciding it was better he only watched and observed the goings on between him and Duncan.

Toquah had caught the ends of "...T.K." when he woke up, and he grinned at Duncan. "Wow, no one's ever g-give me a n-n-n-nickname b-b-before. B-But what d-does the 'K' s-stand for?" he asked. Toquah had never been told by his family that his full name was "Toquah'kan" so therefore had always thought his name was Toquah. Of course, that didn't mean he was stupid, just much more naive than necessary. Besides, Duncan seemed like a nice stallion and he didn't want to lose the opportunity to make a new friend.

“Um…” Duncan was a little thrown by the conversation. He had been told by this unique stallion that he had a memory problem but he could not conceive that this stallion was so messed up that he could not remember his own name.

“Um… I might be mistaken, but I don’t think that I am… Didn’t you tell me that your name was Toquah'Kan. I could have sworn that you did, T.K.” Duncan was royally confused. The stallion seemed like a wonderful guy, but Duncan was starting to believe his brain would soon explode.
