Welcome, everyone. This is the first in a planned series of roleplays (depending on response). Some will be based on demons who have already appeared in Buffy, and some will be new ideas.
(Also, feel free to suggest next month's to me via PM!)
The roleplay will be locked in a month, but next month's will be a new episode. You have no obligation to play the same character two months in a row, but you get "dibs". That is, if you played Giles last time, you will have the chance to claim Giles next time, and if you do, you automatically get it.
If two people want to play the same character, I will judge based on the quality of the intro you send me.
Important Dates Nov. 6th - Last day to PM me asking to join Nov. 7th - Roleplay begins Nov. 30th - Roleplay ends, next month's built

Character List
(Note: this is set in Season 1. Choose personality accordingly.)
Buffy - shukuo Xander - Heph Willow Cordelia Giles The Monster - JM
If the spot is not filled, you may post in character at any time, regardless of whether someone has already posted in that role before (although I expect you to read the RP to make sure you understand what's going on).
For example, if I didn't have a character, I could read the RP, and then post as Cordelia, even if someone else has already done the same. See? No commitment! biggrin

(I will double as Giles from time to time, as necessary, since I don't think he's much of a fighter in Season 1, and the monster won't show until later. Heph and shukuo, you can double, too, if you feel like it.)

Buffy bounced around the library cheerfully. She shouted a Sunnydale cheer, and continued until she slammed into the hinged tabletop that connected the two sides of the circulation desk. Slayer strength being what it was, it splintered.

Giles looked up from the Istanbul Compendium at the sound of breaking wood. "Buffy, please do ... erm... contain yourself." Under his breath, he added, "For the sake of the furniture." Louder, "why are you so... spirited... this afternoon?" The Watcher began to clean his glasses, afraid of what he might hear. With his new Slayer, he was never sure of anything.
(Also, I neglected to mention that the position of Angel is available. *pokes Sol, who has been seeming very Angelish lately*)

(i'm assuming this is post-friendship, so we all know eachother...)
Xander peeked into the library before pushing his way through the double doors. He saw Buffy do a cheer, then slam into the little door to behind the circulation desk. Giles mumbled something about being careful, then went back to his work in some compendium or another. Xander sauntered up to his friend and smiled. "Morning, Buff. What's the big bad today? Vamps, demons, or Ms. Dorian when she finds out I didn't do my chem homework this weekend?"

Completely serious, Buffy replied, "Ms. Dorian." A moment later, she bounced over to Giles, asking, "Hey, is there such a demon that assigns homework on Fridays?"

Xander nodded. "I bet there is," he said. "And I bet it hangs out with the demon that scares small children in their sleep."

"Yes, as well as the two smaller demons who prevent Watchers from translating whether Tzu Shih wrote that there would be an apocalypse today, or that his mother was a peahen!" said Giles, losing his cool demeanor slightly. Something seemed to be bothering him.
"Buffy, go... do your calisthenics." he said, trying to get the ex-cheerleader out of his reading light. "Somewhere else." he clarified.
"Oh, and will you take Xander?"

"If every day could be like Friday, it might lose its point you know" Angel said as he coolly swept into the library. "It's good that you young people are kept so busy in high school. Believe it or not this is some of the best years of your lives. Well they're also the worst, but the point is, you feel something. That passion...."
Angel couldn't be all this insightful if he didn't brood. Xander looked at him funny, Giles just rolled his eyes but Buffy looked deeply interested and semi-fan girly.
"Anyway I'm here for business as usual. So it seems like we have a demon to worry about on top of Ms. Dorian. Please, everybody gather 'round...." Angel scratched his head. "We should wait for Willow, shouldn't we?"
They all gathered around Angel. He wasn't so well with the talking, but he had to start somewhere. Buffy gave him a nod to continue, knowing that they could play catch up later and she was a need-to-know now type of gal.
(contd. on next post)

((okay it looks like I'm kinda taking over Giles but I'm not really. It fits in that thing you said where Giles had something on his mind. I'll stop being controlling after this post, I triple promise!!))
Angel looked at Giles. "Giles, we have to tell her..."
Giles sighed and cleaned his glasses. "Very well, then."
"Buffy listen to me. There's a test...that every Slayer your age must go through. You only need to complete it once. The thing is...it's kind of like well. Really hard."
"Just think, Buffy" Angel continued. "A vampire's power versus yours. They don't need anything outside their own bodies to injure and kill you. You do not have that luxury, at least that's what you think up until this point. You have so much more power that you don't even about yet."
"The Watcher's council, they need you to... to slay a vampire. With your bare fists. No stakes. You can't use any props but your own flesh, blood and skin." Angel blinked. "I don't suppose one could bless their own tears, because that might work too."
"A brutal, barbaric ritual is what it is." Giles elaborated. "One Slayer in the 1800s passed the test by knocking out her own teeth and forged them as weapons to slash at the vampire's rather thick neck. But if you do not complete it, I will be promptly fired from my duty as your watcher and you'd be assigned somebody well.... more British, as Xander so eloquently puts it."
Of course, nobody wanted Buffy to lose her teeth. Or any part of her body to slay one measly vampire, but it *was* council tradition. A way to prove to the Dark Side that "Hey! We can do that TOO you big evil...thingies! You're not so tough!"
((just a kind of twist on the whole Helpless thing *somewhat*, where Giles doesn't have to lie and betray Buffy's trust. Heh. Only it's a reverse Helpless episode because Buffy doesn't have to work without powers this time, she has to do everything she can physically))
((This doesn't even have to take up a lot of the story either, but just something to add in there....))

Xander looked from Giles to Angel to Buffy. "So," he began. "Buff has to become super-Buff?" he snickered, then remembered the thing about her teeth and donned a scared expression. "Please don't knock out your teeth!"
