So... I've been working in the same area for two months now. Been signing all the sheets for available positions. And finally, FINALLY, they came up to me (on Wednesday) and asked if I was interested in this one position. I said yes and the next day I started training.

Considering that they go through the list according to seniority (and the fact that I basically don't have any) means that a lot of people tried this position out before I did. Some of them just said no and went back to their old positions, but most were sent back because they were struggling.

On my first day I was already on the line... whereas they sometimes trained people off the line for up to three days before putting them on. Today I was taught ALL the different spots for my position, and did decent enough that people were telling me that no one saw a reason to send me back. Some even said that I was already better than my bf (who also works on that line but usually on harder positions but struggles with what I was taught)

Ha. Now get this. Monday came along and I was working just fine. Switching out every once in a while so I don't tire out and everything (the usual for someone on training). Tuesday was the same thing, except for just before last break.

Just before break my yellow hat (lead hand) comes along and watches me for a bit. I step it up a little, but considering the product coming out was frozen and I was not used to it, I was struggling a bit. Next thing I know she's RIGHT beside me telling me I have to do every second one. Fine, I'll try. So I'm trying and she pulls one back and is all "You missed a piece". Fine, I cut it off. For five minutes she goes on continually about how I missed a piece on that one, that I just let two go by, that I should've pulled that one back, etc. etc. I got frusterated and started to cry (NOT because of her, I've been really stressed out and in pain for a few weeks now, and that day I was also sick and shouldn't have even gone to work. So her nagging was just the icing on the cake) so I was doing an even worse job because I couldn't see.

After break you switch places, so I ended up doing the super easy job for the rest of the day. My trainer came up to me and said he heard what happened. I didn't say anything and just kept working. At least every second belly that came along had skin on it (which is what I was doing wrong before break, but not nearly THIS bad - like every fourth one) so I was super busy until the end of the day, with a pile of bellies beside me that still needed to be worked on. I only missed a few pieces on the line which had to be tossed back to me (in an hour and a half I missed like 4 bellies that needed work, OH NO! stare )

Next morning I come in with the full intention of working harder on what my yellow hat was telling me I was doing wrong. Before I even get to my line the supervisor motions for me to talk to him: The corporate trainers and I had a meeting last night and decided to send you back because we believe you won't be able to work fast enough. So put your knives away and go see *yellow hat for packaging* or *trainer for packaging*

scream @*#@^#^!!!! @#^$!

So I'm back in packaging now. I went back to talk to the supervisor yesterday to tell him that I feel I didn't get a fair chance. He basically repeated himself and said if I still have a problem to take it to the union. I said that that is exactly what I'm going to do. I have four or five people from that line that believe that it's bullshit and I should still be there (I mean c'mon, on my fourth day of training I was doing better than someone that has been there for MONTHS) So on Tuesday - because Monday is a holiday - I will go talk to a union rep, give him/her the names of the people that will back me up, and go from there.

Update: Went to a union rep. Supervisor gave him a different story as to why I was taken off the line (not strong enough). Went to HR. Supervisor gave them original excuse (not fast enough). He also told them that it was a unanimous vote from him and the trainers. A week ago I learned that one of the two trainers had no clue what was happening with that situation ( scream ).

I also learned that the person after me got trained, didn't like it, and got a different job on the line for the same amount of pay.

Next guy really sucks balls, but will stay in that position because he already works on that line.

I. Got. ******** whatever, I'll just keep signing posting and get a better job than that one for better pay. mad
