Any day was long with six cubs running around, especially when you tried to keep an eye on all of them whenever you could. Today, though, seemed to be particularly long and tiring, and Amadet was keen on taking a nap or otherwise remaining unoccupied for at least part of the afternoon. It wasn't hard to convince Gharadi, or the well-behaved bunch of her cubs.. at least, she didn't bother to give anyone the chance to argue and had gone off to find a nice shady place to have a nap. And nap she did.

Kichea smiled, looking at her brother and sisters, she jumped down from a rock and snuck over to where her mom was sleeping. She jumped out from behind the tree and landed on her mom. "Hi mommy," she smiled a toothy grin.

Amadet was just starting to get into a deep, peaceful sleep when out of no where the blue girl leaped on her- immediately waking her up. Luckily, knowing cubs around had dampened whatever instinct she might have previously had at an ambush in her sleep. The happy greeting certainly was enough to make the lioness drop any remaining instinct that might have tried to kick in.

"Mhmm?" Amadet mumbled sleepily, lifting up her head to look over at Kichea, "Hello, Kichea."

"Get up mommy..... you're no fun sleeping!" She jumped up and down impatiently and paced back and forth "come on mommy get up!" Just then a butterfly fluttered gracefully past and caught Kichea's eye. She was off like a shot swiping at the butterfly as she went, although it remained just out of her reach. "Here Mr. Butterfly," she coaxed.

It soon became clear that Amadet had been foolish to think she could escape all of them- especially since Kichea seemed so dead-set on playing with her, though why Amadet was more fun than the cub's brother and four sisters, she would never figure out. She just opened her mouth to ask when Kichea suddenly leaped away and chased after a passing butterfly.

It was tempting to just let the cub go off on her own and play- Kichea was probably the best of the cubs at keeping herself entertained. She was especially helpful keeping the others entertained too. However, she couldn't let her get too far away- if Gharadi had lost track of her so that she got here, Amadet would have to take over. Besides, ignoring her wouldn't be nice and Amadet knew just how short her time would be with her cubs.

"Kichea," she called after the cub, getting up and walking after the excitable cub, "You won't catch it like that."

She turned still running, and looked at her mom "what?" she hit a rock and tripped rolling head over paws in the dirt. She put on a strong face and simply said "ow." She stood and rubbed her head with her paw, a bump forming. She jogged back toward her mother.

Amadet winced as she watched Kichea tumble around in the dirt and froze as she waited to see if the girl would get up on her own. She looked just as relieved as she felt when she heard the small "ow". When Kichea jogged closer, Amadet moved closer again- closing the gap with her long legs much quicker than the cub could.

"You have to be careful," she chided, and leaned down to lick the poor cubs now bumpy head, "If you want to be a good hunter, you have to be quieter, more careful."

Chasing butterflies was a good lead in to learning to actually hunt, which was a very valuable life lesson for a lion. In the meantime, Kichea did not have to worry about that herself- but Ama was sure it would be no time before they were all grown up..

"Thanks mommy," she smiled. She looked around not quite sure what to do now.. "mommy what are we doing today," she asked curiously. "I want to do something fun!" her eyes gleamed. "I'm going to go roll in the grass!" She leaped off once again.
She got to the grass and rolled wildly through it "Wheeeeeee"

(( .. Kichea needs ritalin. ))

Ama smiled approvingly when Kichea politely said thank you, though she really needn't do so. She didn't get a chance to respond to any of the cubs questions before she leaped away and started to roll through the grass. Ama stared for a moment, then shook her head. Kichea needed an outlet for all the energy she had, so that she could focus on just one thing for more than 30 seconds.

"Are your sisters too busy to play with you, darling?" she called out to the rolling cub, wondering just how much more fun she could be than the bunch of cubs, "Maybe you and I could go look for more butterflies."

Kichea kept rolling not paying much attention until she heard the magic word. She jumped up ears held high, "yay Butterflies! Let's go mommy let's get some more butterflies!" She ran back to her mom bouncing happily, "Teach me how to catch them mommy, I bet you're good at it!"

Amadet was proud of herself for knowing a good way to get the girl's attention, and made note of Kichea's fondness for butterflies. She couldn't help but grin arrogantly when her daughter complimented her butterfly hunting skills. Having actual experience with large prey, she did have an advantage- but being small was good for escaping large and awkward predators.

"First, do you know where we can find a lot of butteflies?" Amadet asked, not wanting to simply tell Kichea but test her own knowledge, "What kind of area do they like to live in?"

she beamed, "They live in the flowery spots!" She turned quickly and pointed with her paw, "like that one over there, let's go mommy! Let's get some!" She jumped from paw to paw, "This is going to be fun!" She headed off quickly toward the flowery patch a good 100 meters away.

"That's right, very good!" Amadet praised her daughter, and turned to look off in the direction the cub indicated. It looked like it had potential for being flowery, and Amadet thought if anyone knew where to find some it would be the lion who liked butterflies the most. So she jogged along after Kichea, following her to the flower patch.

Kichea got down low her tail twitching. She held still waiting for her mom to catch up. She watched the butterflies floating across the flower patch, she rubbed her front paws together.

"Good, good," Amadet praised the girl in a whisper when she reached the flower patch. It was delightfully amusing to see the expression Kichea had and the way she rubbed her paws together. Amadet settled in to the grass just at the edge of the flowers, crouching low to be at Kichea's level.

"Which one do you want to get? Pick one, and watch it carefully," she instructed in the same low voice.
