Leonard sat still in the water, carefully watching the fish swimming around. He didn't move at all, not even an antennae, until one of the fish swam a little to close to him. He darted his arms forward, making a grab for the fish with his claws. He was far to slow, however, and the fish easily got away.

"Dammit!" He yelled, and his stomach growled in agreement. He was sick of fruit. He wanted some fish for once. He settled back down. If that jerk Aiden could catch a fish, then he could too!

Jessie drifted along the bottom of the lagoons sandy bed. He’d caught a few fish so far, though; the small brightly coloured fish that inhabited the lagoon didn’t do much to satisfy his hunger. It was odd, lately he needed more food than usual, and he’d been running out of energy much sooner than usual. But he chalked that up to his new lifestyle, at home, he’d never be moving around this much, or hardly be this active.

Slowly, he let the current push him along, like this he’d been able to catch unsuspecting fish. He snatch up another one with his tentacle, his suckers squeezing it tight. He surfaced to take a bit of the fish, unfortunately, he was still unable to eat underwater properly, without accidentally talking in salt water into his stomach. He dug his beak into the fleshy parts of the fish, he didn’t need to prepare it, it really didn’t matter to him any more.

Leonard was still waiting for the fish to get close to him, when something surfaced not to far away. It startled him a bit, and he unconsciously backed away at first, until he recognized who it was.

"Hi Jessie!" He said with more enthusiasm than their last meeting would suggest.

Jessie chewed away at the fish; it tasted better than it probably should have to his tongue. Soon he was done, with the good parts; he left most of the fish’s spine and head, and the bone parts he’d carefully eaten around. He hadn’t noticed Leonard, he’d been to busy with his meal, which hadn’t been quite enough for him yet, he still needed a few more. He was about to dive back down before Leonard called out to him.

Well at least he thought it was Leonard. From where Jessie was swimming, Leonard looked more like a pile of thin white sticks with a head.

“Erm, hi Leonard.” He quickly decided Leonard didn’t want to be reminded about his change by asking him about it. Though his speech made it quite evident that he was uncomfortable just looking at him.

He headed over to Jessie; it was a pain to talk to him from a ways away.

"You're looking better." He commented. The last e had seen him, Jessie looked fairly depressed, which was understandable. As usual, Leonard's antennae reached out to examine the new person. This time was different though, as on brushed against the remains of the fish. He instinctively knew it was edible.

"Hey, are you going to finish that?" He asked, doing his best to point at where Jessie held it under water.

“I…guess” he said slowly, like he was picking words and trying to say a much longer sentence. He just couldn’t stop staring at his odd antennae, especially as they reached out to touch him.

“This?” He replied rather puzzled as he lifted the remains of his fish up, holding it between his thumb and the one finger he still had. There was nothing left of the thing, nothing a person would enjoy eating anyway, he’d already eaten everything save for the bony unpleasant parts. “Erm…I guess if you want it...” Jessie was, especially for a person with his appearance, slightly disgusted at Leonard’s new appetite.

He noticed the odd looks, but he did his best to ignore it. It was getting easier the more he got out in front of the others.

"Really? Thanks!" Score! He was getting some food, even if it was only a little. He quickly snatched the remains from Jessie, ad started picking off any bit of flesh left on the bones.

"So, what have you been up to?" He asked around bites of fish.

Jessie tried his best not to look at Leonard as he ate, he didn’t want to visibly cringe in front of him. Though, Leonard probably thought it disgusting how he ate with his beak equally unpleasant.

“No…no problem Leonard.” He said quite weakly, as he preoccupied himself with looking at how his tentacles looked through the rippling water.

“Just working on a camp and stuff…” By the looks of things, Leonard had let the way they’d last spoken go. He’d best try to do the same.

Leonard, once again, hadn't realized how disgusting he was being, or how uncomfortable he was making Jessie. His instincts were more interested in food. He finished with the fish, now nothing but bones, and let it drift away, his attantion on Jessie.

Leonard busied himself by cleaning his antennae as he talked. "That's good. At least you found something to do. It's just so boring sometimes, you know?"

Jessie continued is awkward stares, only this time it was focused on how Leonard “cleaned” his antennae. The guy had really gotten the short of the stick with these changes, he looked like a freak, and he had weird instincts to match.

“I…suppose it does” Jessie had been doing something most of the time, he’d hardly been bored. Rather he was always with some self appointed task. Working on his camps stuff, or looking for food did take a lot of time, particularly the latter.

Jessie stuck his head underwater for a moment, to check for any food. There was nothing within sight, the presence of him and Leonard had scared anything edible away.

It wasn't long before Leonard was thinking with his stomach again. "Hey Jessie." He said while the guy was looking underwater. "Do you think yo could help me catch some fish? You're obviously good at catching them."

He tried to think of something useful to do in exchange. "I could help you with your camp or something, I suppose.

“I guess I could” Just as long as he wasn’t around to see him eat them. “But…erm, your kinda scaring the fish away, I can’t see any nearby.” He scratched the back of his head as he spoke. “You’d have to go the shore and let me catch a few”

“There’s not much you can do, I’m really all done with working on it…unless there’s some stuff you can give me” This was a good turn of events for him, if Leonard and some useless supplies, he could market himself as a fisher for the islanders. Things where looking a little up now.

"Alright, I can do that." Sit around and wait while someone caught fish for him? No problem there.

"Um..you need a pillow? I've got some of those." There were a couple he didn't need, that he wouldn't mind giving away. He really couldn't think of what Jessie would need them for though.

Leonard headed to the beach, before laying down in the warm, shallow water of the lagoon.

“Hmm, I could use a pillow” he said, putting emphasis on the could part to make it evident he wanted the pillow. He just didn’t want to phrase it quite as directly as “Yes”. “One would be fine” Great, he already had a mattress and sheets. Now he could have a complete bed, if only he could use it over night without waking up with painfully dry and itchy skin.

Once Leonard was gone and basking in the shallows Jessie got to work. He went with his usual routine of lying on the lagoons bed and waiting for fish to pass by. Though he couldn’t eat anything he caught just yet. He kept the ones he snatched in his tentacles. After nearly half an hour, he’d been able to catch three reasonably sized fish. They where of some brightly coloured tropical species Jessie didn’t recognise, and about the size of a palm. He’d caught others but didn’t think they where big enough.

He surfaced, carrying the three now dead fish in his tentacles, and dumped them by Leonard on the shoreline. “Three enough for a pillow?” He said as he flopped down on the sand onto his bare stomach.

"You bet!" Real food at last. Though something was telling him not to eat these fish. He wasn't supposed to eat them. But they were already dead, right? So it should be fine then. No sense letting them go to waste.

He quickly snatched one from Jessie and bit right in. A little too salty, but good. He was too hungry to wait and cook it. It was probably similar to the way Jessie ate.

"If you wait here I'll go get a pillow. It might take me a little while though, so you may have to wait a bit.
