In the year 5892 (Yes, random number), humanity has spread through the galaxy, meeting many aliens and forming alliances. Technology has progressed to the point where travel between systems takes seconds and to travel from one side of the galaxy to the other takes mere days.

Many new and interesting sports have arisen from the aliens and ever old ones changed and warped into something new and interesting. Car racing is now done by ships through solar systems and games like snooker are played in 'anti-gravity' fields in a box, rather than on a table.

One such sport that has changed it skateboarding. Instead of performing tricks for points, one now has to race to the finish on a hover-board, using their wits to beet their opponents. Races are done over various planets and terrains, with few rules other than no weapons.

Aliens from all planets try out for the pro circuit, but only a select few get in. This rp is about that select group and their lives inside and outside the circuit.

Okay, name and age are easy. Race and appearance. Make these interesting, but not over done. Make your board name and description interesting as well. I hate boring things.

Name: Hssran Ysrass
Race: Ssrathran
Gender: Male
Age: 24
Appearance: Hssran is just under five foot tall when standing straight, which is never, so about four foot seven. His red reptilian skin is spotted with black spots and he looks something like a walking dragon with a long neck and tail and spikes along his spine. He has two swept back horns on his head and the end of his long tail is studded with four inch long needle-like spikes.
Personality: Hssran, for all his fierce exterior, is fairly gentle as light-hearted. He races for the thrill of it and never uses his spikes except in self defence.
Board: Firefly MkIIV, with a tail clamp and psychic control. Opting for an easier board to control than hand or foot controls, Hssran paid the extra amount for the psychic control. He found spikes on his hands and feet damaged the controls too much. Painted red and black, the board sports the standard two engines.
Bio: Hssran's race is the most recent to join the alliance, being a member for only 60 odd years. His parents became instant fans of Hyper-boarding and encouraged young Hssran with his love of the sport too. At the age of 15, (adulthood for Ssrathran's), Hssran bought his firefly and proceeded to blitz the amateur class on his planet and the planets nearby. A talent agent found him crossing the line first in his systems annual amateur tournament and offered him a place in the professional circuit. Hssran leapt at the chance and has been a mid-range pro for the last few years. With the top three retiring this year, Hssran believes he stands much more of a chance at coming first in the next galactic tourney.

U MEANS WE IS NOT SAVING TEH WORLDS?????

I don't know if I can do it.

Name: Krekrek "The Wreck" Shrahar Tvh
Race: Raha
Gender: F
Appearance: The Raha are a vaguely humanoid species, consisting of a head, torso, and the regular amount of appendages. Krek has extremely white skin, which she decorates with various body paints to cover her burn scars. Completely hairless with secondary eyes running from her shoulders to back of her hands. If there are anymore they are hidden by her clothes. These eyes are covered with a thick protective film, making them worthless for detecting more than movement and basic shapes. Her head is retractable, like a turtle, which makes several people wonder why she wears a helmet. Her two primary eyes (which have no film, allowing them better vision) are attached to stalks emerging from the middle of her face.
Personality: Quirky, ridiculously over-the-top, and tired. Krek is constantly trying to keep up with her own image, both in the races and in the public eye. As of late, her humor has grown bitter and cynical, which the Rahan has hid from the public.
Board: Resner Tazg, dark blue with light blue flowers painted on. Special ordered, the board is extremely light and streamlined, coming without several safety features to keep it light. This allows for better speed and responsiveness, but makes the board into a soaring death trap. The safety straps on the board are for show only, there because her sponsors insisted that she promote safety. As a result Krek's wrecks are rather spectacular, usually with lots of fire and pretty explosions. The boarder actually stuffs her board with fireworks for better effect.
Bio: An extreme grandstander, Krek's popularity is based off of her ridiculous stunts. One of the few boarders to still wear a helmet because "Safety is Cool!!", it's become something of a gimmick for her and her various ad campaigns. A shameless ad whore, Krek's gear is covered with various advertisements except for her beloved helmet. Her helmet is bare except for an odd symbol which she refuses to explain. It's rumored to be an ancient religious rune, the name of an old lover, or just another publicity stunt. Her constant playing to the crowd has cost her several races in the past.

This'll be fun since I know nothing about skateboarding. YES IT IS TRUE THERE IS SOMETHING I KNOW NOTHING ABOUT. I tried to learn. Many times. It hurt. Children pointed and laughed. Seriously, they pointed and there was much merriment on there part. My friends were assholes. Still are.
PostPosted: Sun Nov 04, 2007 5:37 pm

Then for once dema, we find ourselves on equal footing, for I too, know absolutely nothing about skating. And was laughed at by not only children, but adults.

Name: Nora Sadaan
Race: Human
Gender: Female
Age: 22
Appearance: Nora is around five foot six inches tall and very willowy. Her skin is light brown, and her eyes a strange golden colour. Her eyes are rather large, allowing for sharper eyesight, a trait that has been honed over several thousand years. Her hair is naturally white, and short, cropped just above her ears.
Personality: Nora's first love is boarding. Everything else comes second to it. She doesn't allow herself to get attached to anyone, and is considered rather aloof and occasionally perceived as rather rude. However, she has a kind heart, not that anyone ever sees it.
Board: A top-of-the-line modified Dodge RG497. A light make, built for speed and agility, but less durable than the more hardy brands. However, it's sensors can recognise potential obstacles, so Nora has not, as of yet, had to test it's actual durability.
Bio: Nora grew up loving the sport of hoverboarding, but never expected to have such a talent for it. Most humans didn't have the agility nor the reflexes involved to do it. She began to learn from a very young age, and several years ago joined the pro circuit. She has grown very tough and a little cynical, as, despite her excellent record, is considered inferior considering her human heritage.

Well, i was smart. I never even tried.

Name: Solomon "Sol" Sypress
Race: Tykan
Gender: Male
Age: 18
Appearance: Bleached blonde hair flows down partly covering Sol's hazel eyes. The Tykan are a human race but due to biological and environmental reasons are always tanned (except for a few exceptions), flexible and generally have blonde or red hair. Tykan are generally short and extremely light, weighing between 30-50 kilos, Sol being about 45. Sol is generally fit but more inportantly, is extremely flexible, even by Tykan standards. Sol is always seen wearing black leather gloves and loose clothing.
Personality: Nothing ever seems to annoy Sol, always seem laughing, smiling or mucking around. Sol is layed back and can annoy people by not seeming interested or affected by conversations, or more importantly insults, normally irritating his competition. Sol is only in races for the fun of it, also playing to the crowd by playing jokes on his compeditors or mocking them.
Board: Slim Gel II, the latest from Tykan Airboards. The Slim Gel is bright orange, with a layer of orange gel, covering the board. The board is about a metre ling and has two bright blue strips down the middle. The Slim Gel does not need engines, using the latest in anti-gravity technology, one of the fastest boards around. The board is extremely sensitive, made only for Tykans due to their weight. The gel surrounding the board holds Sol to the board, the slightest contact holding Sol to the board. The board also has a location chip inside it, allowing Sol to summon it if he leaves the board.
Bio: Sol spend the first ten years learning the basic skills needed to control a hover board. After coming second in his first race a small company sent him to one of the best retired hover board racers, Sol picking up the finer points of racing untill he was 15. After that he became the face of Tykan Airboards, used for his good looks and skills. For the next couple of years he gave interviews and publicity stunts, conveying a good looking friendly guy that helped make Tykan Airboards what it is today. Sol is know for his pranks and mockery in races, jumping on other boards, sending them towards the ground, and hitching a ride by making contact between boards, causing them to stick together. Sol's signature move is his dive, when he pulls out of it, jus before he touches the groud, able to do it without crashing due the light weight of the board.

Eh, I've had a little go, every time it moved I fell... My brother can kind of skate.....

((Lets get this started))

Hssran pulled out of the last corner, first lap of the race, in fourth. Nora and Sol were ahead of him with another alien, and Krekrek was behind him, doing something crazy, per normal. Hunkering down, he floored the accelerator, pushing himself and his board to the limits as he flew through the stadium.

Jiranna, the planet they were racing on currently, was a tropical planet filled with massive trees that had been growing for aeons. In fact, the planets populace was mostly situated on platforms raised from the ground. As such, the course was a series of platforms held up by groups of branches. Mostly it made for a solid track to race on, but in areas, there were massive gaps to jump. Not everyone survived those gaps and there had been some racers in the past who had dropped out of sight never to be seen again. Hssran didn't care too much. His body spikes would allow him to climb any tree he came across.

As he exited the stadium on his second lap of three, Hssran grinned. This was what he lived for.

As the track continued, it split into two tracks. The lower, easier track was slightly longer, but much safer. The higher track however, was a fine example of missing boards and low branches. Few people took the higher one, opting for the safer, lower track. As the alien in first took the lower track, Hssran aimed his board towards the higher one, ready to try and pass the three ahead of him.

I'm trying to be more positive lately. Let's see how long this lasts>

Krek was munching on a strange fruit she'd somehow acquired when doing some elaborate tree flip. It had thrown her to the back of the pack, something that needed to be rectified immediately. Surprising no one, the Rahan took the risky higher track, catapulting herself ahead of the Hssran and the other two racers.

Krek considered her options. Weapons were against the rules (partly influenced by the time she lit another racer on fire. He had been fire-resistant. His board wasn't) which was too bad, because blowing up the bridge behind her would be pretty awesome. She did a board slide to see if the fire from her rockets ignite the track, but apparently it was fire resistant.

Her board slide had cost her time and speed. Forsaking the idea of sabotaging the others, Krek pondered other ways to keep her increasingly shortening lead. Or at least lose in the most spectacular way possible.

Her eyes took in the large gap approaching in the track. She paused, shuddered, and her eyes shrank back in her head. Hating herself, she dove into the gap with a blunt to fake.

On the underside of the track Krek hung from her upside down board, wishing the safety straps were real. Using her thumbs and eye stalks to manage the controls, Krek flew along the track, wondering what she was going to do at the next gap.

((You wern't last, you were fourth. There are other racers. Just not in the front group.))

Hssran ducked instinctively as Krek flew over his head and watched as she dove under the track. Shaking his head, he floored it over the gap, and wondered what the other racers were thinking, not for the millionth time.

((Erm, I could get someone to pick a number and the closest to it wins? Or a dice roll, but I can't see it atm...))
PostPosted: Tue Nov 13, 2007 11:55 pm

[[Dice rolls don't work in guilds. Pick five emoticons each and i'll let you know who wins. If noone picks the one I chose, then I win.]]

Nora swore in several different languages as Krek stole her lead, and tilted her board forward slightly, allowing for more speed. She knew that Hssran and Sol were right behind her, with the rest of the boarders a fair way back. It was just the normal people that she had to worry about. Nobody else was as highly skilled as the four in the lead, but there wasn't any room for mistakes for Nora if she wanted to win this race. And she definately did.

Seeing a ramp that might allow her to gain the lead once more- if she didn't crash going off it- she swerved to the left and flew up the shallow incline. She soared over the top and landed next to Krek. Damnit. She hadn't been able to gain the lead. Now who knew what the alien would do. Everyone knew that she was crazy. Perhaps Nora should do something crazy first.

Nah, she wasn't good at crazy. She was good at winning. Just a little more... The race was nearly finished. They were on their final lap, and it had been much the same throughout the entire race. Hssran, Krek and Sol fighting over the lead, whilst the others had quickly dropped back. Nora didn't know why they bothered to enter the pro circuit. But now she had to take the lead, and there was the problem. She had no idea how to overtake the crazy alien.

She had to win though. The other aliens were constantly driving her up the wall about the fact that she was human and therefore superior. She'd shown them several times and they still refused to believe that she was as good as them. Well, she'd show them this time, and force them to believe it.

((That's soo not fair leafy. There's 45 emoticons. We get a total of 15 and you get 30. Seeing as how dice rolls don't work in guilds, how bout I do *this*))

((*Insert awesome post here*))

Sol grinned to himself as Nora passed him. She was probably one of his main concerns, everyone knew just how much she wanted to win, she had that determination that Sol lacked. Also angling his board to gain some speed he took the same ramp that Nora had, only continuing on that angle until he was above the tree tops.

Shrugging, trying to convince even himself that this wasn't a stupid idea he suddenly jumped from the board, diving down into the foliage of the trees. As he fell he found that he could easily avoid all the branches and leaves, even using some of the stronger branches as a platform to bounce of, giving him a little more speed with his drop.

After about ten seconds Sol passed through the foliage, falling just above Nora. motioning with his hand his board suddenly flew passed, collecting its rider as he fell down beside Nora. Lying casually over his board he waved at Nora. "Hey hows it going. Just though I should drop by. Anyway Better get going, there's not really much time for small chitchat. You know, this being a race and all," Sol said grinning as he flew passed Nora, if only by a metre or two. Now all I have to do if get passed Krek.... Shouldn't be too hard, she's said to be crazy and rather fond of dramatic explosions. Maybe this wont be as hard as I though," Sol said to himself, leaning closer to the board.

Hssran uttered a low growling sound that, if converted into the common tongue, would have been a pretty bad curse. Watching the other racers pull their corners better than himself didn't help and being amazed at the stunts pulled just made him made. Maybe it was time to add another couple of engines to his board. Screw manoeuvrability, pass them on the last straight and it'd all be good.

Watching as the alien used Nora's slipstream to pass her, he floored it and slipped into the lowest part of the course. Not being able to see where your opponents were wasn't terribly good, but the narrower course through the thicker parts of the trunks was fairly good on his board, being not too straight or twisted.

Jiranna was one of his favourite planets to race on, for it reminded him of home. Tropical forest and the sun filtering through the leaves. Time almost stopped for Hssran as he flew over a gap in the platform before heading back up to the main course.

As the platform merged with the main track, Hssran pulled up and next to Nora. Her board was more manoeuvrable than his, but he had the slight edge on speed. Firefly's were always prized for their good ratios of speed and manoeuvrability, hence his choice.
PostPosted: Wed Nov 21, 2007 3:45 pm

Nora glared at Sol as he passed her, but was soon distracted as a small rattle began to enter her consciousness. Her board began to shudder, then shot up into the air. Nora, strapped to the board, followed it. Her board flew up the side of a tree, and now Nora knew what had happened. One of the other races had sabotaged her board. Which was highly illegal, and should be impossible, as all boards underwent an examination before a race, and then were locked up tight to prevent saboteurs, or special... modifications being made.

As she flew up the tree, the board made several funny sounds, before releasing the straps that held her in place. She began to fall, her board continuing to soar up into the air. Her last thought before she hit the ground was that she was definately going to demand an enquiry.

Hssran watched as Mora's board spun out of control. His conscious torn, he closed his eyes and tried to ignore the sound of Nora hitting the track. (Please note that the ground would be kilometres below the track... =death)

He opened his eyes in time to see the alien, a short, stubby alien on a wide board, enter the stadium with Sol on his tail, less than a boards length behind. Krek pulled yet another hideous stunt as she followed. Unfortunately, Hssran didn't get to see who crossed first, but he knew that the alien had the faster board over Sol, so presumed that he won.

He entered the stadium to see Krek pull a stunt across the finish line to the pleasure of the assembled crowd.

Fourth. Better than fifth, worse than third. It didn't bug him that much to be only placing fourth. The top five were the hardest positions to hold after all.

The Ssrathran pulled his board up to the side of the track, where the 'pits' were. His crew came out, calling out congratulations for being in the top five. Fourth in the pro circuit was the best position he'd come so far, so it was a cause for celebration, even though the team wasn't earning a huge amount of money on the race.

Un-clamping his tail clamp, Hssran let his crew take his board as he approached the alien who won.

"Congratsss," he hissed. "Well raccced."

The alien nodded. "Yersolf Hssran. Noxt time."

Hssran nodded and approached Sol and Krek. "Incredible raccce. I look forward to more."
