Story:
In the year 2010, populations continued to rise and a large asteroid was predicted to go into Earth's orbit and become Earth's second moon. It was predicted to come and become Earth's second moon by 2012. Several satellites were moved in time to protect them from harm. When it came close enough, it was discovered that the entire moon was made of a highly radioactive rock, and it had a trail of smaller asteroids comprised of the same rock. By March 2011, a few people were discovered to have already been contaminated by the radiation and mutated. When these people were discovered they were abducted by first-world countries and put into labs where they weren't treated like animals, but actual people. These people underwent series of psychological and physical tests to see what happened to them. Most of them had severe pains and physically mutated, becoming lesser creatures with an unimaginable thirst for blood. They became creatures that could not think and were unimaginably disfigured. Less suffered severe pains while mutating. Even less felt no pain at all. In total, 7,500 people were abducted and placed into 25 subterranean labs. More than 5,000 of them died either in mutation or were killed due to side-effects from the mutation. These mutations were kept secret until there was a widespread epidemic of mutation throughout the world in July 2012, a few months after the asteroid finally came into orbit. By then, the population had risen to a little over 9,000,000,000 humans. Some died in mutation, but most turned into disfigured beasts which were later referred to as "The Plague", as whatever creature they fed on turned into one of them within a matter of hours. Less than .00001% weren't mutated at all. By June 2013, 68% of the world's population had either died or became part of The Plague. In January 2014, the world's leaders decided to evacuate the planet and nuke it. Their plan failed. As they tried to flee, it was discovered that at least two people on their 13 shuttles to space were already infected. The nukes launched and the shuttles dropped. The Plague were successfully wiped out, but only .01% of the original population of the planet survived. The world then went into a nuclear winter for five years straight. When the seemingly never-ending winter passed, the world had become a desert. Very little water was drinkable, either by radiation or just the fact it was poisonous. There was water found, however, and some people actually built primitive cities at these rare water sources. After living on the surface for a few months, new animals were found. They all had two traits in common, thus them all being classified as a single species. The two traits found in common: they had a large gem implanted in the center of their skulls and they were all carnivorous. They were all named Shiners, as the gems glowed day and night. The gems were discovered to have electric charges, and were used for technology. There are only 13 cities in the world, and mankind struggles to survive. Where do you stand?
