Just wondering if anyone else was as incensed as I am over Criss Angel's behavior. I wish I had links for you, but I don't know if the episode is up online yet. You might try NBC.com.
I knew Criss Angel was no more than an illusionist, but I had no idea he was so spiteful towards people claiming to have paranormal abilities for real. I lost any amount of respect I may have had for him and so have a lot of his fans, considering what they're posting on his website.

I can understand Criss on this one, considering that his performance was overblown, but that was neither the time nor the place to try and pull off such a stunt. Jim's response was also not exactly the best thing he could have done, either. (Don't watch the last 52 seconds of the clip...it's the person trying to take Jim's side.)

I'm on dial up so it would have taken me forever. I just can't get over how rude Criss was. I honestly expected that lady to impale her hand before I expected to see a blow up like that.

Above all things, one fact stands out more than the rest -- Tim Vincent is hot.
And secondly -- what a b***h Criss was. Although it's only to be suspected - they're both performers of a sort, so there's going to be some tension there.

It wasn't the time nor the place for such a stunt, not to mention Jim wasn't the only one he challenged. He asked Uri to do it, too. If what he did was authentic (honestly, I've never seen a possession that overblown, so I have my doubts), he seemed too drained to pull off something like that. My question: WHY did Criss have the envelope there in the first place? Was he expecting this to happen?

Well, since Chriss is a fake, I think it's extremely hard for him to believe anyone else is real. I've seen Chriss float around, and then seen him explain how he faked it. So he was probably sitting there thinking "Okay, what's this guy's trick?"
I personally think Chriss is a douchebag because he wears that goth crap and religious stuff when he really doesn't believe any of it. I like magicians, but he's just obnoxious about it--pretending he's spiritual one minute so he can make money, and acting like a big skeptic the next.
In any case, you DO have to take into account the psychic's energy. If it took him a couple of minutes and all that energy for one trick, it's unfair to ask him to do the same thing right away, and have him do it instantly. I'm iffy about the guy of course--all that moaning and thrashing around makes me suspicious, but I think that he should be given the benefit of the doubt. Have Chriss do his envelope thing the next week when the other guy has had time to recover. That would be fair.

OMG....when you guys said a blow-up, I pictured a tiny scuffle, maybe an exchange of words like in American Idol...but you weren't exaggerating! gonk
Although I'm uber suspicious of the Jim guy, Criss Angel has now lost all my respect. While Uri has gained some, cause I didn't know him before this show; and yet he restrained Criss even though he was brought into it.
The envelope was one of the first things I thought of, too. He was PREPARED for this...which just makes it worse. gonk

I believe it would have been too easy to fake what Callahan did; I don't believe it was an actual possession. That's not the point though. The point is that in Criss' show he portrays himself as supernatural, talking crap about believing and being spiritual, and he's just exploiting people. Then Jim gets up there and maybe does a more overblown thing, and suddenly it's like Criss Angel is the only person allowed to pretend he's psychic.
And I've been reading on Angel's website; apparently he did a radio show or something where he explained the envelope thing. So I guess he was prepared for something like that, but honestly it's probably just to get more publicity for himself. Also, Criss did a seance on this season of Mindfreak, complete with three frames of an "unexplained" form appearing and disappearing. Then at the end he says he doesn't believe in ghosts.
Ideological bigot? I think Jim Callahan may have hit the nail on the head.
